I hate Rodgers on the field, but he is sooooooo good.
Most QBs last night would have peed themselves

He did. You just couldn't tell because the pants are the right color to cover it up.

He never threw to Richard Sherman's side of the field. You limit yourself like that and you will lose almost every time.

I have no doubt that Christian Ponder would have had no fear throwing to Sherman's side of the field. That does not make him in any way better than Aaron Rodgers.

We finally disagree on something!

I've loved Petey since he was Buds shoe-shine boy

Pete Carroll is a monumental douche bag. When other douche bags see Pete they say "man that guy is douche". If it wasn't that whole beating the Pukers thing, he wouldn't have any redeeming qualities at all.

Shocked. [&:][&:][&:]

I was just taken aback because you are the first person I've ever heard express love for Petey. I don't think his wife even does that.

There's a shitload of Seattle people who'd disagree with you.
No one else here felt pain seeing Seattle lift that banner?

How the hell long does this franchise have to wait?
Maybe we worry too much about being nice Boy Scouts.

Maybe the Vikes marketing bunch should contact the Twins, so Olberman can harpoon them for not having been in the superbowl for almost 40 years.

I did feel dirty cheering for the Seahawks last night. But when it's the Packers, I would maybe cheer for Putin over them.

I would hope for a tie between the Pack and ISIS

That was my initial thought, but I couldn't quite bring myself to that level. Pure evil.

A big reason Ponder failed was he was afraid to make tough throws. Rodgers was afraid to make tough throws to that side of the field last night. If he's so great (and I do think he's pretty damn good) why was he afraid to throw that way from time to time? It allowed Seattles Safties to cheat to the other side of the field and it basically strangled the Packers passing game...which you know pretty much strangles their offense entirely, even with Lacy.

I don't disagree with you there man. I always thought Roger Hedrick was a moron wrapped in an idiot for picking Denny over Petey. The man is an asshole, but he wins .... a lot.

Maybe because Sherman had the guy on that side of the field covered?

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 9:37:20 AM)

I gotta say that he should have at least thrown over there a couple times

Except maybe on the Favre-like throw he made in the 2nd half where he was running to his right and tried to throw a bomb (late) to the middle of the fileld. Davante Adams was wide open behind Sherman for an easy touchdown. Definitely not Rodgers best game.

djskillz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 9:38:26 AM)

Sherman's very good. But he's not even the best CB in football (Patrick Peterson is). Rodgers has to do more.

Yes he is - just ask him.

If Rodgers sucked last night, sign me up.
Light years ahead of what we've had at QB lately.
He's in a different league. You can ......not like people, and still respect the fact that they're damn good at their job.

I did say they would be tough throws..but he did make his own job more difficult by not throwing over there.
Jarius Wright beat Sherman with a double move. Put Cobb over there facing Sherman and use some of those moves and see what happens. If Wright can beat Sherman, others can too. He's not shutting smaller quicker guys down and why the NFL doesn't notice this is beyond me. He can be beat.

Packers lost partially because they allowed themselves to believe that they couldn't throw to that side of the field. They did as much to beat themselves that the Seahags did to beat them. Seahags just know how to take advantage of it better than most...

He is.
One of the top five in the game right now.
That doesn't mean he can't play scared.
It looked to me like he allowed hype of Sherman to dictate his game. The truly great QBs dictate the game, they don't have it dictated to them like Rodgers did last night.

SoMnFan -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 9:46:02 AM)

The best news, ESP for us to see ... Was that the Packer defense still cannot make the first tackle.
They never tackled the runner with the first guy.
Costs them yard after yard after yard.
Lynch is good, but he made them look helpless.

No, he was not.

And top five in the game is underrating him.

The problem with the Packers O last night was the o-line, a concussed Lacy, an exceptional Seattle defense, and (possibly) a slight fall off in receivers behind Nelson and Cobb.

On board with that -- ultimately, the Packers offense will put up huge chunks of points, but that defense still needs help.

Bingo

That Seattle defense puts on pressure like a bunch of monkeys on crack
They make good QBs look like crap and they also make great ones look confused and average

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 9:57:57 AM)

Dan Marino knows a thing or two about franchise quarterbacks, having been one himself. And Marino didn't hesitate when asked who his franchise quarterback would be in today's NFL.

Not Drew Brees. Not Tom Brady. Not Peyton Manning. Not even a young quarterback such as Cam Newton or Colin Kaepernick or Nick Foles.

“To me, and I love Tom and I've known Tom before he started playing and Peyton and all those guys, but Aaron Rodgers makes all the throws and plays you can make,” Marino told Yahoo Sports at an opening of a new Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza location, of which Marino is an equity partner, in New Jersey last month. “He's a guy if I was starting a franchise, he'd be the one I'd want to start with.

"He can do so much and he brings so much to the table as a quarterback. He's a good leader. To me, he's the best in the league right now; the guy I want to build my team with.”

MDK -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 10:08:58 AM)

If the NFL is trotting out its new Thursday night football to be televised on CBS with this huge ad campaign featuring every star on CBS including the Big Bang actors.....

Why was the game last night (which I think was Thursday night.....I might be wrong.....)

Why was the game on NBC????????

You're exactly right. They can't make the first tackle. Often they can't make the second or third tackle. Peterson should get half way to 1,000 just in the two Packer games.

Steve Lentz -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/5/2014 5:37:21 PM)

Wilson appears to me to be one of the smartest and classiest QB I've seen in a long time. I hate that he played for Wisconsin, but I have nothing but respect for his play at QB.

I will never underestimate the abilities of Rodgers. He is as good as anyone right now.

True - just didn't have one of his better games. Playing against the best defense in football had something to do with it.
