That's what needs to happen.

Sure wish Target would pull its sponsorship of the Twins for the fan abuse the team has inflicted the past four seasons.

I agree it's insane to me to think in those terms. But I truly believe there is a large portion of people that deem what he did to be okay.

I don't think that's true. As Cris Carter said, sitting guys is the only thing that will make them pay attention. Yes, would be better without pay, but I still view it as a punishment, and I suspect guys with a lot of pride who live for playing on Sundays do as well.

There are only so many NFL games players will be young enough and healthy enuogh to play in. They don't want to miss a single one.

When Adrian Peterson is getting paid 14/16 of $1M to sit on the couch, he is not being punished. I'm sorry, he just isn't. The paycheck is more than enough to sooth his wounded pride.

The only angle I would see is that it's effecting his chase for the records. The more time he misses the less chance he has of breaking several of them.

VikingsMessageBoard.com, a longtime board devoted to discussion of the Minnesota Vikings, has shut down forever because of its owners' disgust with the burgeoning Adrian Peterson scandal. And oh, are there plenty of people to be disgusted at. Sure, there's Peterson himself, indicted on charges of child abuse. But the proprietors of the message board also offered the following note, via SB Nation:

Vikings Message Board has been shut down permanently. It will not return. There are two primary reasons.

1. The Vikings' cowardly decision to reinstate a child abuser and think that an apology will make this blow over. We will not stand for this arrogance and we will no longer be the home of any support of the Vikings. We stand for those who cannot defend themselves.

2. We will not give a voice to thugs who think child abuse is "cultural" or worse, openly advocate child abuse as a reasonable method of punishment. This ends here. Yes, a few board members have ruined it for everyone. Congratulations, [jerks].

Does Chip Kelly know something that no one else does? He is a fanatic about health, diet, conditioning. The Eagles were the better conditioned team last night.

Can we get Chip Kelly to manage our baseball team?

Sleep too.

He is also a stickler for his players getting enough sleep.

Think he would like some film of the Twins to help his players go to sleep at night???????

Yeah. thumbs up to refusing to talk about issues. Cut it all off.

Please.

ronhextall -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/16/2014 12:37:19 PM)

I am more convinced than ever that the Vikings will cut Petersen. Nobody is going to get in a bidding war over naming rights to the new stadium with AP on the payroll, that will cost the Wilfs way more than AP is worth.

Can you imagine the PR disaster if somebody like 3M bought the naming rights? A corporation spending millions and millions to name a stadium that supports an animal of a person.

He gone, I just don't see it any other way.

You're probably right but when I see the ignorant, inflammatory comments made on some boards I don't blame the guy for walking away. Besides why should he be any different - Do people like Rush Limbaugh, etc allow people to discuss issues? No, any dissenting viewpoint is dismissed and ridiculed.

Black 47 -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/16/2014 12:43:14 PM)

The statement made by the Vikings........incomprehensible. Beyond words.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/16/2014 1:15:07 PM)

at about 12:30

@JeffDarlington
Adrian Peterson just left the Vikings' team facility — followed by a TMZ cameraman who is apparently now chasing in a car behind him.

It's the exactly WRONG thing to do.. shutting down is just monumentally stupid. If anything good was to come of this AD situation it's that it has people talking about child abuse. Talking tends to lead to more action. And instead of having a dialogue the guy shuts his whole site down...

REALLY?

PALESTINE, Texas — David Cummings and Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson still talk about the frequent whippings Peterson's father administered — and one whipping in particular.

Cummings says he and Peterson were leaving football practice while in middle school when Peterson's father, Nelson, was waiting near the parking lot.

School officials had called Nelson Peterson to report that Adrian had been disruptive in class, recalled Cummings, who played football and basketball with Adrian Peterson during their youth and through high school.

"His dad asked what happened, and Adrian told him," Cummings said.

With that, Nelson Peterson unstrapped his belt and whipped Adrian Peterson in front of more than 20 students, Cummings said.

So it is what he grew up with. Which we already knew.

Not saying it is right.
Just saying that is what he sees as parenting and didn't see it any other way until now. If what he said in his statement is true, he is making an effort to break that continuity. to change the dynamic.

Anything and everything to gain an advantage.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/16/2014 1:56:02 PM)

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) will introduce legislation aimed at eliminating the NFL's tax-exempt status, she announced at a press conference on Tuesday.

Cantwell's motivation for introducing the legislation is the league's continued inaction against the Washington Redskins name.

“The NFL needs to join the rest of Americans in the 21st century,” she said, according to The Washington Post. “It is about right and wrong.”

The press conference was called by the Native American coalition Change the Mascot, which has sent a letter to 31 NFL owners urging them to take action that could lead to the Redskins name being changed.

Washington owner Dan Snyder was the only owner to whom the letter was not sent.

The letter, one of which was obtained by the Washington Post, highlights a section of the NFL's bylaws that grants the league power to discipline any owner guilty of "conduct detrimental to the welfare of the League or professional football."

The letter says Snyder has exhibited such conduct by promoting "this racial slur."

Mr. Ed -> RE: Vikes talk for Twins fans (9/16/2014 2:01:21 PM)

TMZ is now reporting that the NFL has reached out to the Montgomery Country DA’s office, however, the Minnesota Vikings have not. Although TMZ has essentially become the spokesperson for the NFL of late, a quote from the article is of utmost importance in both situations.

When the NFL reached out to the DA’s office, only what was already made public was turned over. TMZ is reporting that this is because, “the NFL is not entitled to the case file since it is not a law enforcement agency.”

Although players in any professional sporting organization should be held to a higher standard, it is easy to forget that the organization is not above the law either. While the Minnesota Vikings and the NFL have a standard they want to hold their players to, they must also fall in line in accordance to the law.

@1500ESPN_Reusse
Getting e-mails from people who want to know how many kids Peterson has fathered. Hey, Adrian wants to know, too.

@APkrawczynski
Shaun Hagglund, owner of Fan HQ at Ridgedale, tells AP he pulled Peterson jerseys Friday night. Waiting to see process play out

@APkrawczynski
Wheaties spokesman tells AP that it removed Adrian from website because his contract expired, not because of charges.

@DaveCampbellAP
Mylan makes EpiPen for allergy attacks, "has ended all activities with Adrian Peterson." Had been doing many anaphylaxis awareness spots.
