OK, and also one last one, also in honor of Rickey:

All-time TWINS stolen base leader?

Mr. Ed -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:13:13 AM)

Torii Hunter

Knobby

Ding Ding Ding.

That was quick.  Really pretty amazing considering the relatively short time he played here.

Wrong on the other guesses though.  Keep trying.  Matt's OBP question really is a great one.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:23:21 AM)

Knobby was an easy one.

OBP....i'm giving up...

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:30:41 AM)

Elliot got it on OBP.

Dumbfounding huh, Ed?

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:31:23 AM)

Can anyone get the runs/BA top 4 in each?

Mr. Ed -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:35:58 AM)

Runs

Killer
Carew

BA

Carew
Kirby

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:37:17 AM)

2 more on each, Ed.  At least one of which should be really easy in AVG.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:41:26 AM)

Average

Oliva

Runs
Knobby

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 11:42:28 AM)

Wrong on both counts.

OBP should give you a good indication on the AVG, Ed.

A third baseman now that Wonder Boy should be.

Nick PUnto

He's number one in trips to the pitching mound by a positional player other than the catcher.

Matt Dahl -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:04:57 PM)

Sorry I wasn't here to monitor the answers.  Tax returns got in the way.

Thanks for telling me my question was a great one, Dustin.  I agree.  I am great.

I figured Mauer would be tricky because of the plate appearance minimum...and also because what's right in front of your eyes is sometimes easily overlooked.

Carew and Knoblauch...pretty easy.

Lawton shouldn't be all that surprising, but when you consider all the great players who have played for the Twins, his name certainly doesn't top many people's lists.  Roids don't directly help plate discipline...it has to be learned.

Matt Dahl -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:06:53 PM)

AVG
Carew
Mauer
Puckett
Knoblauch

Oops...wrong.  I just checked.  Didn't know the true #4 had enough Twins plate appearances.

Matt Dahl -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:13:57 PM)

RUNS
Killebrew
Carew
Puckett
Oliva

Guest -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:15:21 PM)

My OBP choices were

Carew
Knobby in that order and then I had
Killer with a ?

This before I looked.  I had dismissed Mauer....I didn't know he had met the 2000 at plate appearances.

Matt Lawton was the surprise at fourth.

But Killer comes in at 5th with all those walks.

He must be the all time leader in ops with his 514 slugging and 378 obp.

And refresh my memory....why did Shane Mack sign a 3 year deal with the Japanese league after the 94 season?????  Was the Twins offer so pathetic?

Again, I get #4 wrong.  Oliva must be #5.  Oliva had 34 fewer runs than #4.  Not shocked by #4....but a little bit surprising.

Oliva is #5 after the #4 guy.

Matt Dahl -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:22:48 PM)

Piggybacking off Miles saying Killebrew must be #1 with OPS...

Name the Top 5.

Killebrew is #1 by a mile.

I am very surprised by #4 leading #5.  Similar players, though it seems like #5 had so much better batting averages than #4, that his OPS would be higher, considering similar power.

Guest -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:38:10 PM)

One guy that has to be in there is Shane Mack.

I am going to try:

1.  Killebrew
2.  Mauer (yeah, I know his slg is tiny)
3.  Mack
4.  Carew
5.  Oliva

And I didn't look at an OPS chart.  I will now to check my answers.

Guest -> RE: Baseball Trivia (1/16/2009 12:40:18 PM)

Matt,
After the ops, ask for the adjusted ops+ ranking.
