No on all of the above. You know better than to pick catchers.

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:00:17 PM)

Also, no guesses on the "young 9", Matt? That one's a bit easier. 5 left on that question.

twinsfan -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:00:22 PM)

I'm clearly an idiot. Can't believe Helton isn't Top 10.

twinsfan -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:00:44 PM)

Pudge is #2.

Entered today a mere 23 hits behind #10 on the list, 24 behind #9 Ichiro.

Yes, we've established this.

You have #7/8/10 to go.

As I said, REALLY tough to see #8/10 making it to 3,000. But #7 is doable depending on how much longer he plays.

I was referring to your No Catchers comment.

Oh, haha. Ya, Pudge is a rare breed. 2842 hits. The next closest catcher is Posada, who is 39 years old, with 1634 hits. AJ and Varitek are next a bit behind. Ramon Hernandez/Victor Martinez after that. Mauer will probably pass all of those guys within 3-4 years.

BTW, Anderson did end his career with 2529 hits. So yes, if he was active he'd be in 7th place.

I'm awesome.

twinsfan -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:10:52 PM)

I'm gonna do this without looking at any rosters. Determination.

twinsfan -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:14:17 PM)

My wife guesses Gary Sheffield.

Now she guesses Ken Griffey Jr.

Not bad.

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:14:17 PM)

2 of the last 3 (maybe all of the last 3, but not that I can remember) have been mentioned numerous times as Twins targets in recent years.

Take a stab at the "30 and under with 1000" group if you'd like too, Matt.

Not bad for wife guesses, but as you know, neither are active.

Griffey did finish a mere 219 short.
Sheffield finished 311 short.

Vlad Guerrero

twinsfan -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:16:12 PM)

Bobby Abreu

djskillz -> RE: Baseball Trivia (7/6/2011 10:17:55 PM)

Ding ding ding. 2 in a row, Matt.

#7 (Vlad), and #10 (Abreu).

Vlad has 2509, so at 36 has an average shot. 82 hits this year already.
Abreu has 2341, and is 37, so I think he has pretty much no shot.

All that's left is #8, who has 2350 at 37 years old, and thus also has no shot IMO.

Carlos Delgado?

Retired. He'd be top 20 if not.

Carlos Gomez?

He'll get there when he's around 60. Maybe.
