Always a favorite of mine. He was even my avatar for a few weeks.

98 and 9.6 K/9? [:-]

Is he on the Toronto 'roids plan?

IF/OF Chris Parmelee candidate for promotion with #Orioles. Believed to have June 15 out; .843 OPS at AAA.
Rival such as #Rays could jump

Phil Riewer -> RE: Former Twins News (6/17/2015 9:05:24 AM)

Did I hear this right???? Parmalee hit 2 HR's yesterday?

Tonight Chris Parmelee became the second Oriole to hit two homers in his O's debut, joining Sam Horn who did that on April 9, 1990

Sam Horn rookie cards (1988?) were the bomb.

Corey Koskie played only 989 MLB games, yet has a 24.6 career WAR. He's one of just 39 3B in history with at least 4.0 WAR per 162 games

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (6/17/2015 10:52:30 AM)

Had no idea he was such a WARrior.
Seriously.
Liked him, just didn't realize what we had I guess. [:D]

twinsfan -> RE: Former Twins News (6/17/2015 10:54:59 AM)

I've read projections that show if Koskie's career had played out without the concussion problems (big IF), he would have been a Top 10 all-time third sacker.

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (6/17/2015 10:56:25 AM)

Kinda where I was going.
I remember him being pretty good.
Didn't remember him being elite.

djskillz -> RE: Former Twins News (6/17/2015 12:58:04 PM)

Yep. Highly underrated player in Twins' history. Was a stud.

Hopefully we can get these concussions figured out as a society. Our beloved club has had it effect (at least) 3 of its' major stars in a big way.

Not to mention Buxton.

Stacey King -> RE: Former Twins News (6/18/2015 12:17:53 PM)

Saw #Rockies 1B Justin Morneau. He's doing cardio, neck strengthening last 1 1/2 weeks. Believes he'll make it back but no timetable.

Stacey King -> RE: Former Twins News (6/18/2015 5:08:13 PM)

Yordano Ventura is going on the disabled list due to his ulnar nerve condition. Yohan Pino will start for him tomorrow

djskillz -> RE: Former Twins News (6/18/2015 5:15:17 PM)

I wonder if Ventura will ever be able to make it longterm as a starter. The human body is probably just not meant to throw triple digits for 200 innings/year.

very legit question. he almost throws too hard.

i wonder how hard it is talent wise and athletically for these guys to throw at 90-95% of what they got as their norm and save the 100% for a few batters or pitches a game as needed?

djskillz -> RE: Former Twins News (6/18/2015 5:22:35 PM)

Certainly. Has to be tough to dial it "down" for long stretches.

That is a bit of a concern with Meyer, who I've seen throw 98 mph in the 7th inning before.

Continues to make me wonder how Nolan Ryan did it so well for so long.Freakish.

An absolute freak of nature that boy.
Threw as long and as hard at 44 at he did at 20
And he's one I kinda doubt was juicing

djskillz -> RE: Former Twins News (6/19/2015 8:31:15 AM)

Oh, come on guys, he was juicing...

with Advil.

SoMnFan -> RE: Former Twins News (6/19/2015 4:59:32 PM)

Will forever be one of my favorite Twins ever. Truly cared about the fans, because he was one, and never has taken what he has for granted for a second. Such a tragedy he went through. Hope he can continue for as long as the ride takes him.

Looked like a player all the way out the door however. [:D]
This is one I swung and missed on.

The Phillies plan to name MacPhail as their top baseball decision-maker within the next week or so, Heyman writes in a full column. MacPhail’s title is expected to be named as the new team president, or something similar to that title. Upon MacPhail’s hiring, Gillick would shift to a consulting role similar to the one he held before assuming presidential duties in the wake of former president David Montgomery’s health concerns.
