Dean Chance: 128 W 115 L, 2.92 ERA, 119 ERA+, 1.21 Whip, 11 seasons, 34.9 WAR 662 at bats, 44 hits, 183 ops, -46 ops+ Dean Chance could have been the poster child for the AL's adoption of the DH.

Jack Kralick pitched a no-hitter on this day in 1962. And no, Matt. I wasn't there. But I do remember it clearly. I was a year old. (And a brilliant child prodigy) .... And so were the Minnesota Twins. And Vikings. Yep, we all came into this world together. We've suffered together for all 54 years. Hopefully representatives from both teams will be there when I'm lowered into the ground. God knows it'd just be another one for those times they let me down. But not gently please. Drop me from about five and a half feet. Ya know, just to keep things normal. [:D]

But catches like the one on the video didn't require Ben to throw the ball. His slash: .278/.333/.304/.637 ops+ = 80 ops hurt with the low slg but with the hitters Toronto has, all smilin Ben has to do is get on base and if he does it 1/3 times, not so bad.

You know you won't get hurt by a long ball when pitching to Revere............ Probably a reason Mauer's obp has taken such a huge hit.......rarely hitting even doubles anymore. At this point, he has 26 walks which is only 3 less than his season with the most of 29. He has over a month to play. Why would anyone nibble in pitching to Ben Revere in any situation boggles the mind.

That's a good point. You're going to get him out 7 out of 10 times throwing it over the plate. And of the 3 times he gets on base, its likely just singles.

I found this as We start Friday night football Outfielder Jason Repko extended his hitting streak to eight games after tying the game at 2-2 with a solo home run (12) over the left field wall in the top of the 3rd inning. The 34-year old veteran finished the night 2-for-5, and knocked in the eventual winning run on a blooper to left in the 9th that was officially ruled an error. Repko has two doubles, four home runs, and eight RBI’s while posting a .444 batting average during his recent run of success

Justin Morneau spent parts of 2001-03 in New Britain. Tonight, he begins his Rockies rehab with New Britain. Hasn't played since May 13.

@1500ESPN_Reusse 95% of time when ex-Twin does something I react w/ shrug. But when I hear Wilson Ramos hit a salami, it still irritates hell out of me. Gardy wanted closer. GM Smith should've said, "Can't have him if it costs us a catcher.'' You can't trade two-way catchers.

The Tampa Bay Times has a report on it today, and Rivera says that his benching, even from his personal catching role for Chris Archer, “sucks.” Which they change to “stinks,” but you know he said “sucks.” He added: “I feel like if you are going to give the opportunity to a guy, you should stick with him and help him get through slumps . . . The first half I played a lot and I didn’t do right as a hitter. But I feel like the second half would be better, and I didn’t have the chance to do it.” The Rays, while in last place now, were arguably within striking distance of a playoff slot for a good chunk of the middle of the season. In the first half of the season Rivera hit .185/.221/.306 and struck out 61 times in 238 plate appearances. He has been even worse in the second half, and on the year his line stands at .180/.214/.279. Meanwhile, J.P. Arencibia was called up at the end of August and has hit .327/.333/.655 since then. Sustainable? Of course not. But considerably better than what Rivera has done. All of which is to say: weird time for playing time complaints.
