The Giants have designated reliever Neil Ramirez for assignment and selected the contract of fellow reliever Bryan Morris from Triple-A, according to a club announcement.

Ramirez inked a minor league deal with the Giants over the winter and then made the team’s Opening Day bullpen. Things didn’t go well for the 27-year-old, though, as he threw 10 1/3 innings with the Giants this month and allowed 15 earned runs on 16 hits.

Ah, the Neil Ramirez days. I so miss them.

Toronto's turn

The Blue Jays have claimed righty Neil Ramirez off waivers from the Giants, per a club announcement. San Francisco had recently designated him for assignment.

I guess you don't have to turn your kids into left handed pitchers. Even right handers who suck can pitch forever.

Alex Meyer tonight in Seattle as he starts for LAA. Had 6.16 ERA in 4 starts (19 IP) for AAA Salt Lake.

About as expected

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (5/9/2017 10:48:18 AM)

Tonight(Monday), Trevor Plouffe homered off Ricky Nolasco.

Winning pitcher of that game? Former Twin Liam Hendriks. Loser? Deolis Guerra.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (5/9/2017 1:34:55 PM)

This backs up Stiegs' statement about pitchers you can totally suck as a pitcher and get paid handsomely for it.

The Mariners announced that they’ve traded right-hander Casey Fien to the Phillies in exchange for cash. Because Fien wasn’t on the Mariners’ 40-man roster, Philadelphia does not need to make a corresponding 40-man move. Fien will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, per an announcement from the Phillies.

Might be the most chocked-full post of "former Twins" info, ever [:-]

Are you sure JJ Hardy didn't drive in Aaron Hicks, who bowled over Kurt Suzuki, with Danny Valencia advancing on the play. The throw from Ben Revere sucked, btw ....
Denard Span stood and watched the entire thing with a scowl on his face, too.

And Bobby Kielty ran naked through the outfield.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (5/16/2017 7:29:20 AM)

The Rangers have placed center fielder Carlos Gomez on the 10-day disabled list due to a right hamstring strain that will sideline him for the next four to six weeks, the team announced on Monday.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (5/17/2017 10:16:04 AM)

Henry Sanchez, one of the all-time great high school sluggers in San Diego County history, died this week in Lodi after a four-year battle with cancer. He was 30.

Sanchez, who stood 6-feet-4 and weighed as much as 250 in his prime at Mission Bay High, was a first-round pick of the Minnesota Twins in 2005.

“He had two surgeries to get a softball-size tumor under his throat. He had radiation and chemo, but the cancer had spread to his organs and came back with force.

“He hated hospitals, hated the emergency room, hated all the fuss. But last Friday, he told his mother it was time to go to the hospital.”

Sanchez suffered from a rare soft-tissue cancer called synovial sarcoma.

Danny Santana still looking for his first hit with the #Braves after 5 games (0 for 13).

That's horrible. I remember him and the cancer story. So sorry it ended the way it did.[:@]

Wow. Papi not letting up on us.
In-depth interview on First Take this morning.
"Minnesota a losing organization, not for me. Only people I respect was Molitor and Puckett and they had moved on"
Trusts that his "guys" Adam Jones and Cc Sabathia are telling the truth, but still doesn't think racists exist in Boston.
Because of course, HE never heard it. Duh.

He'll fall off soon ........ (the naysayers cry of hope)

TJSweens -> RE: Former Twins News (6/2/2017 8:06:28 AM)

It's not my cry of hope. I'll just believe it when I see it through the end of September. He had runs here while he looked like an All Star and then just seemed to lose interest. Maybe he has finally matured and will sustain it.

McMurfy -> RE: Former Twins News (6/2/2017 10:21:26 AM)

Hicks in Left, Buxton in Center and Kepler in Right would have been good for the next 10-12 years.

TJSweens -> RE: Former Twins News (6/2/2017 10:39:21 AM)

And if he were still on the Twins last year when he hit .217, the reaction would have been "why is this piece of shit still on the roster".

And he'd probably be batting .217 this year if was still with the Twins.

.217 on last years team moves you up in the batting order.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (6/3/2017 2:40:45 PM)

Wilson Ramos is aiming to make his Rays debut in late June, after completing a 20-day minor league rehab stint, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times writes.

Ramos has reportedly been making solid progress in his recovery from the ACL and meniscus tears he suffered in the last week of the 2016 season.

But it would have cut into our John Jacob Jingle Meier Schmitt Murphy jokes.
So I'm kinda torn ....

Mr. Ed -> RE: Former Twins News (6/15/2017 1:30:51 PM)

With top prospect Matt Chapman set to be officially called up on Thursday, the A’s are preparing to designate third baseman Trevor Plouffe for assignment, The Chronicle has learned.

Plouffe, signed to a one-year, $5.25 million deal during the offseason, is batting .214 with seven homers and 14 RBIs and six errors in 58 games and his playing time had been diminished the past two weeks. He started just one game on the team’s just-completed road trip to Tampa Bay and Miami.

Chapman, 24, was the A’s first-round pick in the 2014 draft, 25th overall. He is likely to be the everyday third baseman Ryon Healy, who has been playing the position more often lately, has made eight errors in 18 starts there. Healy probably will return to splitting time between the designated hitter spot and first base.
