Stewart SHOULD get the pump, IMO.
I've had a couple kids I've worked with for years, who dealt with this.
The pump is a godsend, once it's regulated and used correctly.
Lots of ups and downs with these athletes with diabetes. Feel bad for them, it's a pain in the ass.

Should be noted that Josmil Pinto caught Trevor May in his dominant, 120-pitch, 11K, 3-hit, 8.1 IP win last night

Did anyone hear Perkins on with Mackey and Judd yesterday? I wonder if he's just being a mouthpiece for the Twins or if he really feels this way, but he was not high on Pinto as a catcher at all. Mackey asked him how close Pinto is to being a ML-caliber catcher. Perkins said "He's not close at all." He went on to say that he's not good at framing pitches at all. Needs a ton of work. Reading between the lines, it sounded like he doesn't think Pinto will ever be a starting caliber catcher in the majors.

Perkins should know about not being starting caliber in the bigs [8|]

It's not often you hear a teammate rip on a fellow player like that. It was really weird.

I guess people are different than me.
If I'm pinto, next time I'm up, and I run into little Perk, we're gonna have a little "chat."

It is his 9th season of pro ball. If he hasn't turned the corner by now it may not be in him to be a catcher. Steinbach up here working with him evidently didn't help him polish it up.

Worst thing that happened to Pinto was Suzuki's hot start. Pinto never got a sink or swim crash course two weeks straight of starts baptism under fire this season.

Hopefully someone else heard that...and he pursues it.

That's pretty cheap.

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/17/2014 9:52:36 AM)

Speaking of little perk, take a look at that goofy barbershop, commercial the Twins pitchers do ...
I've always just assumed Perk was normal sized, maybe like six foot or so ....
I realize Pelfrey is related to Chewbacca, and the other two clowns are decent sized, but Perk looks like their little brother.
He's half their size.
PUNK

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/17/2014 9:52:55 AM)

Suzuki hasn't rated very high on that either.

And you can bet that Perkins wouldn't say that about him.

Do you think it's OK what Perkins said?

Is Pinto really that bad?

How did May pitch so well with Pinto behind the plate last night?

And neither one can throw out a base stealer. But you only hear about Pinto's problems in that regard.

No he should not have been blunt like that. If it went down like you said it is flat out wrong.

Or they can laugh at AJ
And his ring, and his wins, and his ....
It's just more "buying into the BS" that the Twins preach.
Don't want to work with a young catcher? Rip his abilities, get your media to buy in, get your mouthpiece players to back it.

Are you referring to Perkins?

I believe the correct term is PUNK ASS BITCH or PAB

Stacey King -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/17/2014 10:03:48 AM)

..and I don't know if Pinto is that bad but...

I think I read that Pinto is allowing a wild pitch or passed ball about twice as often as Suzuki. There is some site or stat that tracks that and if Pinto is doing that badly with wild pitches/passed balls a Manager is going to be very uneasy playing them longterm. And a staff is going to be uneasy burying balls in the dirt going for strikeouts when needed.

Not a good thing when it comes to the bottom line of wining games and hard to overcome over a season and be a winner.

Pinto also caught Deduno a ton more than Suzuki.

Yes that is a chore. Were not doing him any favors in that regard. Again you would think Gardy would do just the opposite if truly interested in Pinto's development. Otherwise it seems like you are setting him up to fail and confirm your beliefs.

I've always found that to be a wonderful managing technique in the field and in any workplace, for that matter. The old set 'em up for failure is a great way to build morale.

Wasn't this done, because Suzuki was asking NOT to catch Deduno? Thought I read something like that.
