I realize he's 27 years old and only in AA, but what are the chances of Brainerd native Nick Anderson making it to the big leagues this season? He would have to find his way onto the 40-man, which would be the biggest hurdle.

Check out his numbers this season:

W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HB BB IBB SO AVG WHIP
4 1 1.08 32 0 0 0 6 6 41.2 25 5 5 0 1 9 0 46 .175 0.82

My son played against him in high school. He also played against Eric Decker who plays for the NY Jets in the NFL. That was Matt's brush with fame. Decker was an awesome pitcher. He should be throwing for the Twins.

He may have nothing left, but I must admit I'm pretty pissy that Decker signed with the Titans here (because of his wife, I'm sure). Would have much preferred him to the train wreck that is Michael Floyd.

Michael Floyd might be a train wreck but his skills as a wide receiver are the third best we have.

Garver is said to be very good defensively.

Has enough pop

15 dingers/21 doubles

He's increased his value with play at first and LF this year.

6'1/220
Double figures in HRs 3 of the past 4 seasons in the system.

Career minors average .267, OBP .261

Not sure who to comp him with. No one in MN's past comes to mind.

less average with the pop of Harper is the best I can come up with. Better OBP

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/1/2017 9:02:08 PM)

Not bad comps

Steve Lentz -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/1/2017 9:33:46 PM)

Garver has been playing some LF lately.
Gleeman likes his pop against LH pitchers, but said he is probably a once or twice a week catcher.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/2/2017 8:06:46 AM)

It will be interesting to see how many they bring up for a cup of coffee. TR was more worried about the per diem than getting the kids used to the show.

.261 OBP is horrible.

But it's almost impressive that he found a way to get his OBP lower than his batting average. It can be done.

Gonsalves solid in Chatt 3-1 win

Gordon 1-3/BB/Solo HR(8)/SB(13)
Now, I believe Gordon should be stealing more bags. 13 isn't nearly enough for a "speedy" leadoff guy. HE's also been hitting a wall. Back up to .282 with his 1-3

I actually did not think it was possible.

It requires having almost no walks or HBP, with a high number of sacrifice flies. If a player has 2 hits in 6 at bats with a sacrifice fly, his batting average would be .333, but his on-base percentage would be .286

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2017 3:45:06 AM)

Thank you, Matt.
