And they're actually trying to limit his innings.

Threw 94 pitches in 5innings. Not economical by any means.

As SMF said a few days ago, this Colon love and "he has something left in the tank" stuff continues to boggle my mind how anyone can think that. And several on here do. Crazy.

1. All star last year
2. Yes, he's had an off year, but...
3. Maybe his 3 1/2 month slump is over, because...
4. He's looked very good until he tires, possibly because he hasn't pitched much in the last month. Needs to build himself back up.

The fact that he's pitched until 44 makes him a freak of nature. I don't believe he's gone from all star to completely washed up in that short of time. Sure, I could be wrong. But we signed him, so we owe him a chance, and based on his first two starts he has earned another start. Plus, after the trade deadline, we may need him if Erv & Garcia are dealt. Maybe you'd prefer Santiago in the 5th spot. Not me.

I agree with all that. Colon will be giving us 6 solid innings per start soon.

SoMnFan -> RE: Players and prospects III (7/29/2017 2:51:57 AM)

Ok, now you lost me again ....

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (7/29/2017 6:27:29 AM)

By us, do you mean the St. Paul Saints?

Because that's not happening at the major league level. He's done.

Stewart struck out a batter an inning again!? Could it be? Dare we hope? Has the new regime found some people who can develop pitching?

I realize he's 27 years old and only in AA, but what are the chances of Brainerd native Nick Anderson making it to the big leagues this season? He would have to find his way onto the 40-man, which would be the biggest hurdle.

Check out his numbers this season:

W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV SVO IP H R ER HR HB BB IBB SO AVG WHIP
4 1 1.08 32 0 0 0 6 6 41.2 25 5 5 0 1 9 0 46 .175 0.82

My son played against him in high school. He also played against Eric Decker who plays for the NY Jets in the NFL. That was Matt's brush with fame. Decker was an awesome pitcher. He should be throwing for the Twins.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/1/2017 3:53:49 PM)

Anyone watch the HOF ceremony on Sunday?

Was pretty cool watching Pudge speak to his son DRod for a minute or so during his speech. For those that missed it, basically said "Son, now you see what you need to do. Work hard and keep grinding....And keep pitching inside."

Pretty neat to see, and neat that the Twins let him be with his dad for his special day. Pudge's speech was the best IMO.

He may have nothing left, but I must admit I'm pretty pissy that Decker signed with the Titans here (because of his wife, I'm sure). Would have much preferred him to the train wreck that is Michael Floyd.
