Aaron Hicks promoted to AAA.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 10:00:37 AM)

About fricking time. Anyone (Buxton) taking his spot at AA?

Buston can't hit High-A pitching, so I doubt he'll get promoted to AA.

Rodriguez was sent back to AA. Hanson was as well, with Herrmann activated.

Melotakis went on the 60 day DL.

You're kidding right?

TJSweens -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 10:42:24 AM)

No, Byron Buston is a BUST!

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 10:46:15 AM)

.250 .327 .427 .754

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 10:47:27 AM)

That would translate to about:

.178 .245 .318 .563 in the majors. Yikes.

TJSweens -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 10:50:23 AM)

Did you just post DrewBu's career numbers?

Basically yes.

I see Buxton out again; still being cautious with the wrists? Ed?

Harrison hitting a little bit too. .873 last 10 games. .758 on the year. He is just 21. I still have high hopes for him. Kepler, also 21, hitting well of late too. .831 the last 10 games for him.

No way in heck that Buxton will be ready to play for the Twins in 2015. As I predicted back in April when Buxton got hurt, his entire 2014 season was lost.

Brice Zimmerman @ZimMiracle
Byron Buxton not in tonight's lineup and just 4-for-23 (.174) in last six games; all Miracle losses.

BUST!

This Buston stuff may actually be coming true. [:@] You and Todd were right all along.

In all seriousness, this season has been a disaster for him. To spin it any other way is absurd. Will he drop out of MLB's Top 10 prospects by the beginning of next season? Probably not. But if he struggles again next season with injuries or just mediocre play, I'm officially off the bandwagon.

Umm, I think I have said all along that Buxton was over-rated.

While wrists are always a concern, it's not like these are injuries that show he's "fragile" or something. They're freak injuries; a slide and HBP on two different wrists. When he's healthy he's still EASILY the best prospect in baseball. And he will be a special player for the Twins by the middle of next season.

Not even a slim chance of this happening.

Dustin, what makes you think Buxton is that great? He exceled at a low minor league level. Great! So do lots of scratch golfers in sub regional and national pro tours. But there are lots of levels professional golfers as there are in professional baseball. Sergio Garcia is the third ranked golfer in the world but has never won a major championship. It happens sports that some athletes never make the turn.

Yup. Can you say Aaron Hicks?

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 12:03:54 PM)

He's excelled at every level, Mark. He was basically the best player in BOTH of his leagues last year. This year it's just injuries. He's hit when healthy, again. What do you think? It's some vast conspiracy by every scout/GM/analyst in baseball that he's #1?

He is the single greatest all around baseball talent I've ever seen in person, at any level. And I say that without a hint of hyperbole.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 12:04:19 PM)

BTW, still waiting on you to sign on for that bet, Mark. It can be signature lines/beers, or anything up to several thousand dollars. Or anything in between.

Matt, is "Buston" a joke term that you and Sweens are using? Pretty clever. [sm=tisk.gif]

Well, if injuries are bringing him down then that is his plight. Reminds me of another one of your favorite Twins organization players. Avoiding injury is part of every sport. Some players just cannot cut it that way. Bad luck or whatever you want to call it. Although we have had the luck discussion on here many times and it has been proven that luck is a myth so it must be something else.

$50 wine and dine bet. Now which one of my predictions are we betting on? Is it Aaron Hicks or Byron Buston? (pardon to Matt and Sweens potential plagiarism) OK, I will make it clear. $50 wine and dine bet on both of them being busts.

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (8/5/2014 12:13:29 PM)

Defining bust for this bet will be a challenge.

Remember, Mark claims Mauer is a bust, while Dustin claims Mauer is a HOFer. That's a wide gap to close. [:D]

Buxton has basically never been hurt in his life before this year. A little early to call him "injury prone" at this point don't you think?

[&:][&:] Well anyone that thinks Mauer's career is a bust somehow is just on another planet. I don't think Mark actually believes that.

I'm in Mark. $50 wine and dine. For parameters, the ones I mentioned: Between the two of them they will play in a minimum of 2 Major League All-Star games over the course of their careers. I think that is Buxton's absolute floor for me. That work?
