Doogie

Buxton update, per Radcliff: "Nothing to update. Rehabbing in Florida." Also: no timetable. Won't be one 'til healthier.

Buxton camp update: he's feeling better. Will resume baseball activities when pain-free. 100% belief he'll play again this year.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/27/2014 5:10:29 PM)

NB off to a 2-0 lead on Ortiz rbi triple/Vargas single

I used to call Diamond the second coming of Duensing. Boy was I wrong. Duensing at least is a serviceable bullpen arm. Diamond is nothing but a piece of coal that had too much pressure.

It seems like Kepler has two hits every game.

Can you imagine having 3 outfielders playing outfield every game?

Kelpler has overall, had a slow first 2 months, still hitting in the .230s

But I'd still consider moving him to AA in the 2nd half. Time to get movingup the ladder or become a minor-league lifer, which is the majority of OFs in the 2 levels above him.

Danny Ortiz is the only OF in the higher ranks, that is worth a shot at the ML roster, right now.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/28/2014 1:25:31 PM)

Could be a little bleak in the Phils future.

Their Hi-A Fla State League team(Clearwater) is playing FtM today. down 3-0

on the year, they're

10-40 [:-]

Mr. Ed -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/28/2014 1:38:26 PM)

If only Walker can figure out the strike zone a little better.

10th HR today in a tough league to hit the ball out.

Jim Frenette -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/29/2014 10:12:09 AM)

Meyer was pulled after 6 innings and only 85 pitches. Time to stretch him out already

Stacey King -> RE: Players and prospects III (5/29/2014 10:14:36 AM)

He has thrown 852 pitches this season, an average of 85.2 per outing.

He has 51 2/3 innings through the first two months, putting him on track for around 125-130 by the end of the minor-league season in early September.

His pitch count by start looks this way: 79-83-77-100-100-92-69-79-88-85.

Ok they have let him throw 100. I just didn't understand that they would like a starter to go 7 in the majors but not at AAA

I guess they are more concerned right now with pitches thrown more than innings.

He's 24 years old. His high IP so far in a season is 129.

Something to consider, a mlb ace has to pitch 200 in a season. If you go on a post-season run you're looking at 230- 250 innings you need from your #1 or #2.

He's 24 years old already.

2013 Draft look back.

2nd rounder, Ryan Eades a righthanded college starter from LSU

thru 9 starts and 58IP this season at LoA Cedar Rapids the 22-yr old Eades is

3-6 with a 5.71 ERA.

Almost 5 walks per 9 and a WHIP of 1.71

Twins also wanted to replenish the catching stock in the system.
decided to go with Stuart Turner, from Ole Miss, the nation's best defensive draft eligible catcher.
Were some major concern about his bat, so he may have been over-drafted in Round 3.

Early returns on the 22-year old Turner at HiA Fort Meyers thru 121 ABs

.223 BA with a .599 OPS

And sadly Eades was drafted as someone who could move through the system quickly. Just like Wimmers. [>:]
