Bingo Dave
Be proactive once.
Neither is an answer to any question we need to ask.
Cut the losses and move on.

"We're competitive"

And Correia just had a good outing. Why would they want to dump him? (Baaa, Baaaa)

After 3 consecutive decent performances, he still has the worst ERA of any starting pitcher in the majors. baaa, baaa.

Keep running him out there, Eating innings, get someone desperate to trade for him.

Please.

(Not really, but there is no way if they're 'competitive' that they'll dump a vet for rook pitchers right now.)

The Twins Way:

revor May's last 4 starts for Rochester: 26 inn., 0 earned runs. #MNTwins official this a.m.: "Still not ready." Will be here eventually.

When a guy's on a roll like that, it's stupid to keep him in the minors. With pitchers (especially Twins pitchers), any pitch could be his last healthy one. Let's use his good stuff up here while he's going good. He'll end up getting hurt and only reach the majors a few years down the road as a washup "recovering" from an injury.

Only 1 starter they can send down to make room for him and that is Gibson. The other take waivers and twins would lose because someone would claim and twins could be still paying the contract. They need to work out a trade but to many question marks for anyone to want their contracts

DFA Correia. If someone takes him; great, you just saved some money on a guy who sucks and is gone after this year anyway.

You could also DFA Pelfrey (can't recall if you can DFA someone on the DL or not, but ignoring that); ain't no way anyone is going to take him with that deal.

They are still liable for contract.

But that's irrelevant to getting him off the team.

Dave's idea of DFAing Pelfrey wouldn't create room on the 25-man though.

So Correia has to be the guy.

twinsfan -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/2/2014 11:30:33 AM)

I do think Correia could be tradeable for a PTBNL. He shouldn't be, but there are other teams (like the Twins) that love crappy veteran innings eaters.

As long as the Tommy John epidemic continues, slugs like Correia will get their chances. Heck, if Bartolo Colon still has a gig, someone will inquire about Correia.

Chic Correia could be traded for BBTBNL (Bag of Balls to be named later). They can even be used baseballs.

Cedar Rapids must be playing a few guys as starters that they think are longterm relievers. Penilla/Jorge both seem like they have good reliever stuff, not so much as starters.

Nelson is as good of a guy as you'll find. We had him in Nashville for many years and he's a class act. Friend of a friend even married the guy. But he's a waste of a roster spot at this point. AAA lifer.

That entire 4-some of pitchers today at Rochester should be in the bigs right now as far as I'm concerned. Tonkin/Meyer/Ibarra are ready. And Guerra deserves a shot.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/2/2014 10:09:49 PM)

Something to keep a watch on that I had forgotten about. Berrios was essentially what we got for compensation in letting Cuddy sign with Colorado. We re-sign Cuddyer, no Berrios.

I get the sentiment and can certainly see the argument, but I'm still not all that heartbroken over letting Cuddy or Hunter walk given the contracts they got. Unless the risk is minimal, always good to let a player go too early than too late.

Don't know why Gonsalves wasn't given a shot at this group.

Seems awfully silly to run him out in rookie ball.

This isn't twitter.

Please desist with the fad of "hashtagging".

Otherwise, yes the Twins way is beyond stupid. Epically dumb is sounding about right now. So many players leave here and have career resurrections. so many of them will tell you that what they really needed was to escape the Twins coaching. Yet none of these coaching "savants" realize they are doing anything wrong.

Why can't we upend the cart here. Why are the Pohlads so afraid of firing people?

Cripes! BILL SMITH STILL HAS A JOB IN THE ORGANIZATION!

Time to clean house.

Keep only the newer blood in Steinbach, Bruno, Molitor and Cuellar.

Everyone else can go.

I disagree. Always room for a couple of life time AAA players. Twins have to fill the squad to make it a competitive team or they could lose the affiliate to someone else. I think the twins are on a thin rope right now.

What bothers me most about Twitter, besides turning the number and pound symbol into hashtag, is that why did other forms of media, competitors of Twitter(like TV) work so hard to get it out there. If you don't believe me, watch Deadliest Catch.

They essentially handed the deranged killer a chainsaw and just said, get it over quickly.

Twitter sucks.
I don't care what Jay-Z thought about the Super Bowl.

djskillz -> RE: Players and prospects III (6/3/2014 10:24:48 AM)

Twitter's good for quick news/insider info around major events. Like drafts (in all leagues), trade deadlines, etc. Everything else? I could care less about it.

Yeah, I will agree with that, but I still choose not to participate and wait for a website like ESPN( another competitor that chose to promote it's rival Twitter) to report it.
