Yup. She's still amazing when she can turn the corner. And Janel set a hell of a screen for her.

But its sad watching her try to beat the press.

Maybe the most impressive thing yesterday.

We beat the 2nd best team in the league and had no one play even 30 minutes. Only 2 played more than 24.

Depth has always been an issue for the Lynx, but they did a masterful job overhauling the bench this offseason.

I've been thinking about this same point and almost posted. Brilliant minds thinking alike. It used to be that we had to beat our opponents with points out of our starting lineup because our bench would always be outscored.
Now I've checked some box scores and actually our starters have been outscored more often than not despite us being undefeated. Now that is just a random check of a few box scores.

Real nice getting Montgomery back....is Cruz still joining the team later too?? Be nice to get one more big body to keep Brunson and Fowles fresh.

I don't think the plan has ever been for her to play in the WNBA this year.

Maybe if Whalen retires after this year, we can get her back and she and Renee can tag-team the point.

Last I heard is she was not joining the Lynx to focus on the Olympics. Seemed to me at the time that there was a possibility of her joining us for the latter part of the season. DL could easily have more up to date info.

Just asked Jim Petersen if Anna might come back after the Olympics and he said yes.

Nice to hear. That was always my understanding of the situation.

Looks like NBATV has decided to pick up the Lynx vs. Sharks battle #2 .... no local TV but encouraging Turner Broadcasting/NBATV will fit in the game @ 7:00pm ct tip.

Lower bowl is said to be sold out only upper deck on sale so should be a great atmosphere.

Maya is a game time decision.

Agreed
Great career, and this should be about it for her.
LOTS of miles

Guys not so fast. I don't see her retiring after this season win or lose. I can see her playing 2 more season as long as her body holds up.
Age has caused her to adjust her game but even though the youngsters may be quicker, money on the line I'd still go with the smarter vets Whalen & Bird over the field to run my team.

Reason I say 2 yrs; The Core4 are very close and as long as the Lynx are title contenders, Reeve is going to do what she can so they can continue to make as much history as their bodies will allow.
It's going to be hard for the 3 older of the Core4, to just walk away. Brunson & Whalen are both 34 & I can see them playing at 36, still making contributions to the team. Brunson is so under appreciated. She is the only active player with 4 rings looking to get her 5th.
Seimone wants to retire as a Lynx, the team that drafted her and I doubt Whalen & Brunson have any desire to finish elsewhere. So along w/Maya and Cheryl, Shelley Patterson & Jim Pete (till he takes a HC job) they're looking to break the record books

Also, next summer the Lynx are kicked out of the Target Center due to bulk of the re-model work. Thus summer 2018 the team *fingers crossed* should be back in the newly re-modeled Target Center.
That would be a more fitting time to call it a wrap, if any so choose. This Core4 is a historic group that should really be appreciated because you don't get to see this type of talent live up to its potential for such an extended period.
I've been enjoying every minuet because in the next 2 yrs it going to be re-build time.

Maybe the re-build will go smoothly. Renee Montgomery is looking real good and Natasha Howard seems like a genius move so far. We could keep this going for a while.

Whalen has never said a word about retiring. The only rumors of her retiring are coming from fan boards. Not that there's anything wrong with fan boards, but there is no indication that Whalen is thinking retirement.

I think it is obvious her game now isn't what it used to be. The question is how much will she let her game deteriorate before she calls it quits. Tough call to make.

A lot of game still left to be played. LA is a quality team, so they're not going to make it easy. But the Lynx have overcome far more than this.

Side note: I really wish we had a local broadcast. I am not liking this LA crew.

Something I don't know if I have ever seen before. Six threes on six consecutive possessions. The three for the lynx by Maya.

The offensive foul against Fowles was probably the right call. Then they call it wrong against Brunson when lavender jumped into her. That was huge.
