Btw .... Marney looked mahhhhhhhhvelous

And, Reeve is as close to Belichek as you can get. Best in the game. Love how she pushes.

Taurasi and Griner looked like they got hit by a truck

I think we're close to the point where Griner starts getting "the flu" on game days against us.

Lynx set to add one of the top players in Europe for the stretch run?

http://www.startribune.com/will-lynx-add-top-european-forward-zandalasini-for-title-drive/441495363/

A 6-1 forward, Zandalasini’s reputation has soared with sterling performances at last year’s under-20 European championships and this summer’s Eurobasket tournament, where she averaged 19 points and 9.6 rebounds.

Here's what I could find on her:

Cecilia Zandalasini [Italy]

You have got to love any game where Cecilia Zandalasini is on the court. She simply sweats class. She looks almost effortless in her game as things appear very easy when she does them. She is becoming the impact player her youth career suggested she’d be (2016’s FIBA U20 tournament MVP with a memorable Final game performance), which is confirmed by her 20 plus minutes and over 9pts per game for a solid EuroLeague Women Top 8 Schio team. While still only 21, there were already high expectations on her this past season both at club level and with the National Team. Though there’s still much room for progression, she stepped in and showed she was ready.

As a player she really fits the modern wing player profile (interesting size, athletic and skilled) and is a pure offensive power: she has a solid jumpshot and is more than happy to create her own off the dribble if necessary. But that is just one of the ways she is able to score or to impact the game. She can shoot in so many different situations, she can postup and either finish close to the hoop thanks to her great footwork or shoot on her defender with a reverse fade way jumper, she shoots the 3 well though not enough, she loves to run the floor, she can attack the rim with solid drives, she can draw fouls and go to the line. All key attributes WNBA teams look for.

She’s already very good but I don’t think we’ve seen half of where she is going to be at some point in her career. She is very poised, appears very focused in her game and seems a very good teammate. There is room for progression, be it her defensive game, be it her rebounding or her passing but with so many years ahead in her career it would be scary if she possessed it all already. It’s only a question of time. In her own way she reminds of other high level wing players like Torrens or Petrovic. This EuroBasketWomen will be her first and expect her to be key for Italy already, she is ready to be the go-to player for her NT for the decade to come.

Once again Fowles crushes Griner.
Fowesl: 14 pt / 10 rb / 3 stl / 2 blk / + 24
Griner: 9 pt / 2 reb/ 0 stl / 4 blk / - 24

The defense also pretty well erased Taurasi's existence. The Mercury were ready to put her picture on a milk carton.

Important win last night. Guarantees a Top 4 finish and (at least) a first round bye.

Huge game tomorrow. If we beat the Sparks, we lock up the top seed. Lose and we're 1 game up in the loss column with 3 to play.

VERY

They gotta pick up the pace. And stop watching defensive rebounds hit the floor or get out hustled by sharks.

Nice that Brunson is back but I wasn't expecting a win in gm #31 @ LA.

They had a travel adventure getting from San Antonio to Dallas to LA but was hoping to see a more focused effort.
Moore is being defended by the likely DPOY so others need to step up and be more alert. Augustus needs to do more and they have to get Fowles the ball quicker then they have been. AND take better care of the ball

Contending for the No. 1 seed in the WNBA postseason, the Lynx have signed Italian league forward Cecilia Zandalasini for the remainder of the season.

Zandalasini played most recently in FIBA Eurobasket 2017, where she scored 19 points per game and was third in field goal accuracy at a clip of 51 percent.

The 6-1 forward should give the Lynx some much-needed offensive firepower as they fight to win the last three games of their season to secure the top seed and homecourt advantage throughout the playoffs.

The Lynx are coming off a 78-67 loss to the L.A. Sparks, who are now just one-half game behind the Lynx.

Since the injury to point guard Lindsay Whalen, the Lynx have struggled to find a consistent offensive presence.

Italian league star Cecilia Zandalasini signs with Lynx

Fans should consider the Lynx’s announcing the signing of Italian forward Cecilia Zandalasini as something of a pre-emptive strike.

The team had a roster spot available, and word around the league was that Zandalasini — a free agent because she went undrafted a year ago —would get a lot of offseason interest from WNBA teams. So the Lynx, looking to the future, scooped Zandalasini up and will have her rights going forward.

“People knew about her,’’ Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve said from Indianapolis Monday.

The 6-1 forward might not play a lot — the Lynx, fighting for the league’s top playoff seed, have three regular season games remaining. But being around the team will give her an idea what the WNBA is about and give the Lynx time to gauge her potential.

Reeve said two members of the organization pushed hard for Zandalasini — assistant coach James Wade, who has extensive European basketball ties, and Lindsay Whalen, who remembers watching Zandalasini in a U-19 tournament.

“It’s nice to have a potential future backup to Maya [Moore],’’ Reeve said. “Hopefully this isn’t a flash in the pan sort of thing. This is something we feel like is a way to add a good young player that the draft can’t produce because of our usual draft position. If she ends up being a good player, this could be a major coup.’’

At least relatively speaking, the 21-year-old is a late bloomer, which might explain her free agent status. Most recently she impressed while playing in the FIBA Eurobasket 2017, scoring 19 points a game while shooting 51 percent. She averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 36 games playing for Famila Schio in the Italian league, where she was briefly teammates with Lynx reserve Natasha Howard.

Because of salary cap concerns, the Lynx played most of the season with 11 players, one short of the limit. But having to pay just a pro-rated portion of a salary this late in the season made the deal possible.

“She has length, a good shot, and there is a toughness about her,’’ Reeve said.

These women have been outstanding.
A return to being champion would ice this cake very nicely.
