Interesting breakdown on McCarthy's problems boiling down to his mechanics. Especially when he throws left.

I have a feeling Wentz will be a mixed bag, and behind this OL, and Jones and Addison out, will probably struggle, but might do ok against Cincy at home.

But I have a feeling it might not be long before we see Brosmer, maybe due to injury. But then again, I thought Darnold would get hurt last year, and he never did, and went 14-3.

Could you imagine how exciting it would be if Wentz led the team to 14-1 the rest of the ways ?

I also like what Brosmer showed, would like to see what he offers, but realize he could just be another preseason warrior.

The last 4 meaningful games have looked the same regardless as to whom the QB is. Perhaps Det wrote the script as to how to stall the KOC offense.

IMO we need to lean way more into running the football setting up PA. Also need quick hitting crossing routes over the middle. Our oline can't protect the QB long enough for these slow developing passing routes that KOC has a hard on for. Needs to stick with the run too, he seems to panic and revert back to the pass if even one running play gets stuffed.

My theory is that McCarthy got benched more than he is badly injured. Rumors have it that Carson Wentz looked very good in practices leading up to our last game. They pulled the trigger on McCarthy quickly after the game. Usually there would be a 1-2 day period of evaluating the injury before announcing the backup as the starter. McCarthy has an ankle sprain, not a dislocation. Dude played the rest of the game with no limitations.

The look on O'Connell's face in the fourth quarter was one of...."oh shit, what have I done?"

I'm just sayin. I think dude got benched. O'Connell saw what I saw, and half the people in here saw....a kid that isn't ready to play in the NFL. All the enthusiasm and face paint in the world isn't going to help if you can't read a defense.

14-3

I think Aaron Jones also made the play calling look better by turning a 2 yard loss into a 6 or 8 yard gain. This year it looks like Jones might have lost that burst.

I was never big on the "character" and "leadership" BS, people usually say that about a player when they lack the skills to be successful at the next level. Basically what they said about Tim Tebow and Christian Ponder

I would also add JJ has an extremely slow release.

As good of offseason Kwesi had I found resigning Jones at that price very questionable. Age 31 and past injuries. 2.4 million of the 8 was from the void year but 5.6 million new money.

I think the running game is going to take a few weeks. Fries and Darrisaw just getting healthy plus a rookie at LG and just integrating the new pieces/the time it takes for an oline to jell.

No question on who is going to get the bulk of carries now.

Is the release slow or just the decision making?

My friend at ATL game said he had open guys, just didn't pull the trigger. Like Darnold against DET and LAR at the end of the year.

DET game was just multiple missed opportunities by the QB.

The next 3 are a combination of poor QB play and bad OLine play. Mostly QB.

I can't understand why KO kept calling such slow developing plays...

So surprised we didn't use the quick passing game to give us some rhythm

I think KO is worried...this kid already scratched the hot rod...time for a grounding

so far he hasn't shown he can read a defense, nor find the open WR's (which were plenty)

He can ask "where would you rather be?"

But he isn't gonna ask, "Who would you rather have at QB?"

Pretty down on this experiment right now and am looking forward to the Wentz show

Quarterbacks are coach killers. He thought he had a guy better than the guy that just went 14-3.

bust of the century?

We've already determined that after just two games, one of which he engineered a bigtime comeback and won?

A Little soon for that, methinks.

I was jabbing at the term bust of the century.

I'll admit that I didn't read back over several posts to get all the context etc when I responded here.

So Sorry I missed the sarcasm.

But I am certain from the history of this place that someone did already give up on JJ McCarthy.

No worries man. I was being silly. The dude is just 22 YO and hadn't played a meaningful game in like 600 days. I think a little patience is in order. The other guy isn't lighting the world on fire either. That was more my point.

Im not giving up but I have my concerns. He's missing more time again. Hopefully it doesn't become a normal thing. The guy needs a lot of work and sitting isn't going to be the answer
