I think Aaron Jones also made the play calling look better by turning a 2 yard loss into a 6 or 8 yard gain. This year it looks like Jones might have lost that burst.

IMO we need to lean way more into running the football setting up PA. Also need quick hitting crossing routes over the middle. Our oline can't protect the QB long enough for these slow developing passing routes that KOC has a hard on for. Needs to stick with the run too, he seems to panic and revert back to the pass if even one running play gets stuffed.

I was never big on the "character" and "leadership" BS, people usually say that about a player when they lack the skills to be successful at the next level. Basically what they said about Tim Tebow and Christian Ponder

I would also add JJ has an extremely slow release.

I have a feeling Wentz will be a mixed bag, and behind this OL, and Jones and Addison out, will probably struggle, but might do ok against Cincy at home.

But I have a feeling it might not be long before we see Brosmer, maybe due to injury. But then again, I thought Darnold would get hurt last year, and he never did, and went 14-3.

Could you imagine how exciting it would be if Wentz led the team to 14-1 the rest of the ways ?

I also like what Brosmer showed, would like to see what he offers, but realize he could just be another preseason warrior.

My theory is that McCarthy got benched more than he is badly injured. Rumors have it that Carson Wentz looked very good in practices leading up to our last game. They pulled the trigger on McCarthy quickly after the game. Usually there would be a 1-2 day period of evaluating the injury before announcing the backup as the starter. McCarthy has an ankle sprain, not a dislocation. Dude played the rest of the game with no limitations.

The look on O'Connell's face in the fourth quarter was one of...."oh shit, what have I done?"

I'm probably in the minority but I still think Wentz has some good to great football left in him.

I was jabbing at the term bust of the century.

I'll admit that I didn't read back over several posts to get all the context etc when I responded here.

So Sorry I missed the sarcasm.

But I am certain from the history of this place that someone did already give up on JJ McCarthy.
