Russo and Friedman have both said that Jesper is available for a trade for a top 6 center (does anybody know why hockey writers insist on spelling center c.e.n.t.R.E?

I think it's a Canadian thing.

"The spelling of "centre" in hockey with an -re ending is used because it follows British English and Commonwealth (including Canadian) spelling conventions, which are derived from French."

I should have known the damn French had something to with it.

LOL, is Friedman based in Montreal? That may explain it.

Skor North Rumor:

Jesper, Stramel, 2026 3rd, 2027 1st for Tim Stützle and their backup Goalie Reimer.

Not a fan of that one. If the Wild are giving that much, I want a centre. Also our top 6 is overloaded with left hand shots as it is.

I also missed a piece...Hartman in the deal.

It is fabricated by Skor North after the equivalent of Adam Schefter for Canadian hockey tweeted this:

32 Thoughts (Jan 26): Elliotte says he could see MIN putting Jesper Wallstedt out there to land the big forward, or C, they are looking for. Says his name has been out there before. "We're all sitting there saying what is he going to use, I think that might be the guy." #mnwild #NHL

Another guy they mentioned was Robert Thomas.

I listened to that Pod last night. The big takeaway was the guy said "if it does go down, you'll understand it why it took so much". Basically implying it's another whopped and not some 30+ has been.

It's nice to win in regulation but that may have been the most 'blah' 4-1 I've seen

Yeah, I missed the 1st period but from what I saw we didn't really have our legs moving very well. Calgary pretty much controlled the puck most of the game but Gus was on top of his game so our early 2 goals held up.

End of first = 2 goals on 4 shots

Holy scoring barrage Batman. Wild score 7 on 29 shots and give up 3 on 42. Hughes sets a Wild Defensive lineman record with an 8 game point streak. He actually scored a goal. Those are like Halley's comet sightings.

Wins are always nice. Hughes getting a goal is refreshing. Winning by 4 despite getting outshot by 13 is pretty excellent.

There is steam about Ottawa being willing to trade either Dylan Couzenz or Shane Pinto plus assets for Wallstedt. Cozens in particular is an intriguing option. Both are about 6'3/ 205 and skilled with room to grow. If the deal were for Pinto it would likely include someone like Ridly Greig and or a first round pick.

I haven’t heard of either. Would either cost Stramel? I am almost in keeping him at all costs mode.

Wallstedt would be the only piece moving from what I have read. Ottawa desperately needs a goalie. The Wild having a 1 and 1A goalie is a luxury without a first line center. Cozens would be ideal. 24 years old with size speed and skill. He had 62 pts last year and is pace to repeat that this year.

If it only takes Wallstedt....I would be in for either...I heard slight rumblings for Pinto but zero about Couzens. I would get greedy and try to get both somehow....lol

I'm watching from Atlantic time Zone an hour ahead of Eastern.

Good thing there is DVR. Comes in handy when I don't feel like staying up.

Man are Hughes and Faber productive. Seems like they are involved in at least 50% of our scores. I'd guess a bit more.

back and forth game. 2-0 to 2-3 to a 4-3 overtime win. KK scores on the power play.

Nice win despite the Wild committing 3 mortal sins, 2 last minute goals and one first minute goal.

Hughes now has a 9 game assist streak which ties the NHL record for longest streak by a player with a new team. With 3 more last night, he became the 3rd fastest defenseman to 400. He did it 484 games, which trails only Bobby Orr (437) and Paul Coffee (464). That's damn good company.

In an interview a couple of weeks ago Hughes talked about how many more times the puck has been on his stick in the offensive zone compared to any other times in his career. By the look on his face you could tell he really loved it.

If you were a casual fan trying to like the sport, last night was a perfect game. Up and down the ice all night long, great goaltending ect..

It reminded me of the Doug Woog days right before he retired. Fast track hockey.
