And we keep dropping in the Athletic power rankings.....

21. Minnesota Wild, 3-4-1
Last week: 14
Sean: 22
Dom: 20

With all due respect to Zeev Buium, a walking endorsement for an NHL version of “Red Zone” for power plays, we’re going with Marcus Johansson. If you’re a 35-year-old who’s still kicking around on the middle six of a half-decent team despite not scoring more than 13 goals since 2018, you’ve earned our respect.

Now, is that a great sign for Minnesota? Probably not. Same goes for the fact that no Wild forward has been on the ice for more of their five-on-five goals. But it all counts for something.

On that note we have another back to back this weekend only this time it's at home. First the Mammoth on Saturday and then Celebrini and the Sharks on Sunday. Odds are good we are 3-6-1 by the end of the weekend.

It's looking more and more like we are going to have very disappointing winter of Minnesota sports. We can add Gopher Hockey to the list of teams struggling coming out of the gate. Since I don't watch the NBA at all any more it's looking very bleak for MN. sports entertainment in the near future.....

To the hapless Sharks . I haven't paid attention to much outside of the Wild when it comes to hockey. Halfway through the game I was thinking "damn, this Sharks team is dominating. They finally turned the corner". Only to hear Carter mention they had 1 win on the year minutes later

I checked in on the score about a half hour after the listed start time and we were down 2 zip already so didn't bother to watch. Guerin has created a new "country club" with 30-somethings that are slow and don't care thanks to all of his NMC contracts. It is past time for a rebuild but I don't see it happening....just another so-called competitive rebuild without top draft picks. Which leads us no closer to a top team.
Rinse repeat, rinse repeat until Leipold gets tired of it and sells.....

When I watch other NHL games and see all of those young guys flying around the rink making things happen I wonder what the hell is wrong with Guerin?
I have a feeling we are in for a real shit-storm in the Olympics this year too with him at the helm.

The good thing is it took them 8 shots this game. That's a pretty big improvement

Just for 'fun' I looked up our individual +/- numbers. I've seen the games so I know they would be pretty bad but holy shit

We have ONE freaking guy with a +. Bogosian (who isn't exactly lighting the world on fire).

I thought they might magically get a win against the Jets but they couldn't hold.

Now that Kaprizov is signed to a reasonable long-term contract, do you think he would accept a trade? It's time to start over and acquire assets. This is not gonna work.

I have a serious question. If you're an NHL fan, isn't it enough to watch a game because you enjoy the sport? I'm seeing more and more of you saying you're checking out of games early because we're behind, or not turning the TV on when you see the score is not in our favor. I guess I don't relate to that. If you like hockey, you should be entertained by watching it - win, lose or draw. I get it if you're a casual fan like myself...sure, I'm more apt to watch a game that's important in the standings or a playoff game. But I'd expect die-hard NHL fans to be in on watching even if the team is not performing as well as you'd like.

You know what, I find it easier to watch and enjoy games the Wild aren't involved in. Since I consider them my hometown team and want to see them play to their abilities it is very hard for me to sit and watch them play one clunker game after another. It would be one thing if we got to see the young players taking their lumps, but it's been the same cast for many years now with no changes....very hard for me to sit through.

Keep in mind the guy that's asking that question is a diehard fan of a team that's mathematically eliminated by June, damn near every year for the past 30 years, in a season that last until October

The wild are in the playoffs every year and I am not a diehard so I don't watch the whole game but I have been catching more of the Wild games even though they have 3 wins and a few ties in their first 11 games than I watched the Twins last year.

There is more exciting talent on the Wild currently (Boldy, Faber, KK, Ek, and the rookies) then what the Twins have (Buck, Royce, Keaschall). Now that could change if ERod and Jenkins play next year. I didn't miss too many games when Keaschall was playing or when Buck is on fire.

Ho hum. Another game another loss. I'm sure Hynes is almost out the door. Will Leo realize Guerin needs to go too.

The question is, who in their right mind would want the GM job with the dumpster fire of a NMC roster we have right now?
I'm afraid it is going to take a lot more of getting booed off our home ice and dwindling attendance before Leipold sees the light and gets rid of Guerin.

At this point we can only hope. Guerin got rid of one country club team and created a new one full of middle 6 and 4th line grinders that he prefers.....

Wow, I logged on and was about to ask "how much runway does Hynes have left?" and you guys already took care of it. Well done.
