If it weren't for the out of their minds (and total anomaly) start to the PP, we could very well be winless.

Minnesota Wild Prospect Spotlight: Charlie Stramel
Stramel
By

Wild.com
October 30, 2025

This week’s Minnesota Wild Prospect Spotlight focuses on Michigan State center and former first-round pick, Charlie Stramel. Through six games, Stramel has recorded six points (3-3=6) and a plus-5 rating, ranking T-2nd in goals and T-3rd in points, goals and shots for the Spartans. The 6-foot-3 centerman has recorded a point in five-of-six games this season, including a two-point (0-2=2) outing on October 10 vs. New Hampshire. After dropping their first game of the season, the Spartans have reeled off five wins a row and are the top ranked team in the country.

Stramel’s hot start to the season is coming off the heels of a career-year last season, where he posted 27 points (9-18=27), four GWG and a plus-13 rating. Stramel’s former teammate, Hobey Baker Award winner and current Edmonton Oiler, Isaac Howard, labeled Stramel as “One of the best players I’ve ever played with.” After two seasons at Wisconsin (2022-24), Stramel has seemed to settle in and find a key role at Michigan State playing for Adam Nightingale who was his coach for two seasons with the USNTDP (2020-22). Nightingale named Stramel an alternate captain prior to the season, proving how much he’s counting on the Senior center to help lead the Spartans this season.

Michigan State will look to retain its spot as the No. 1 team in the country when it hosts fourth-ranked Penn State on November 7 and 8 in a top five, Big Ten battle.

Read more about Stramel and the rest of the Minnesota Wild prospects here.

Stramel may be a legit middle 6 prospect. The kid is big, strong and fast and a true center. Everything the typical Wild forward is not. On the Wild, being mid 6 quality should get him slotted on the top line.

He will need a few years in Iowa before he slots anywhere for the Wild. Just ask Guerin....

Wild management is getting more delusional by the day. Hynes says "we need to get tougher on D". Really? You think so? You rolled in to the season with

Spurgeon
Brodin
Faber
Buium
Middleton
Jiricek
Bogosian

Only 1 1/2 of those guys can be argued as being 'tough'. You brought this on yourselfs Billy.

That's the problem. They want this team to play a heavy hard game but they aren't built for that type of game. There is a reason our older D are injured half the time, they can't handle the beating any more.

Ahhhh, the ole "players only" meeting buys Hynes another month or so. Well done boys

I care more about finally winning a game than I do for Hynes' short-term prospects. We SO needed that win.

At least they played a watchable game for a change. They actually even made 3 consecutive passes without flubbing it away more than once!

I'm super excited by what I've seen from Buium. He's still a newborn deer tripping himself up out there at times but he's really got good instincts on O.

I read or heard someone call Faber a big Middle LB of a defenseman. I went what? He is not the type to hit. Middleton annd Bogosian are more physical but not any more than average.

Jiricek may be less of a hitter than Spurgeon. lol

I just decided to start paying some attention to hockey. I see we are 4-6 and it sounds like we started way worse. Yikes. Could somebody give me a basic recap of the season for us so far?

Weird win. That last second goal by Nashville was a KILLER. Like a knife to the heart kind of goal. But the way we won in OT was great. The Nashville goalie CLEARLY pushed the net intentionally, and the review had it right. Goal and win for the Wild.

Whew.

Glad to get the win but Nashville looks similar to our team....

Yeah, it's not like we beat a monster team, but we're pretty desperate for any wins at this point.

From what I read the bus played well...they are starting to play better.

I think the goal was try to get Zeev up to speed first and it seems to be working as he has improved a ton in 10 games.....now the same needs to be done with Yurov and Jiricek.

Yes, Gus is owed a steak tonight. He kept us in it, especially in the 2nd. We couldn't even get it out of our zone for the first 10 minutes. It was a relentless cycle and shots coming in. He stood tall.
