Good observations but I don't see mcDaniel ever as a good HC

He's a great OC. Time will tell but he has a different attitude than other coaches. He turned that offense around when he got there, plus he made Orton look all pro at times in his system. He' stubborn and has to learn some things on how to deal with players but he's bold and that's how you beomce a great coach in this League.
Bold only works if your system wins

Each year his team folded up like the proverbial cheap suit

Like Shanahan and Belicheck, he has to go somewhere new with a more humble attitude and start winning before displaying that much attitude.

He ran off the two most talented players on the team

HOW BAD IS THE NFC WEST?

Wow

They could have back to back under .500 division winners!

I am not buying the Alex Smith at all

Perhaps, I soo the 9ers surprising some. They have a good squad and if Smith can have some continuity with the OC and the players then who knows. But then again it is Alex Smith and he hasn't proven anything much less mediocrity. but they do have a good defense and strong ground game with some good receivers and a terrible division.

Someone wrote in on Bill Simmons mail bag asking if Smith was the Jason Voorhies of the NFL.  Every year he goes to camp and sucks the life out of an entire org and never dies.  It's amazing.

He needs to learn how to treat certain players. His teams did fold but they were terrible to begin with.

Plus those two players he replaced haven't had much success in Miami and Chicago while Orton and Lloyd have done quite well and they've gotten some fraft picks as well. Not to mention a terrible season will give them a good chance in getting Luck or Barkley.

Where was Orton?

3rd rank defense vs the 23rd ranked defense, not to mention the Bears were great at forcing TOs while Denver was one fo the worst.

However Cutler is a franchise QB while Orton isn't, but if he isn't going to listen then you move on McDaniel sent a message. And that message was a stroke of genius for 6 games.

The message he sent was of arrogance and stupidity

Talent, not messages, win in the NFL

Yup. You have to earn being a dick as a HC.

When McDaniel or Childress try to act like Belicheck, they just come off as pathetic.

Yes but Belicheck had this attitude early on, it didn't work in cleveland but it did in NE. McDainels has thee rapport of devising schemes for the highest scoring offense in NFL history, and he did quite well with Cassel as well. I think he understands what it takes, once he learns how to interact better with players and have them respect him he will be a top coach in this league.

I loved it when NFL Network caught him on the sidelines following a false start by the O-line near the goal line on a Thursday night game. He had his line all sitting around him on the sideline following the drive. "We're only trying to WIN A MOTHER**CKING GAME HERE!?!?!?"

lol

And NFL Network didn't bleep it either.

Here's one you can take to the bank.

Vikings over Eagles NFCCG

Pats over Steerlers AFCCG

McNabb and Ponder knocked out, game goes into OT. Webb gets in and runs a long one in for the win.

McNabb returns to Philadelphia in the playoffs and upsets the heavily favored Eagles....Troy goes to work the next laughing inside as he watches all the Eagle fans ask why didn't he play that way for us - conviently forgetting that at one time he did and they got their just rewards!

I like the end result, but I don't think my heart could take a game that goes into overtime. How about if we win the game 59-0, and Webb still takes a couple in for TDs?

1 Sun, Sep 11 San Diego Chargers @ San Diego
L 17-34 SD too much firepower, offense not totally in sync to keep up, could get ugly, something like 34-17

2 Sun, Sep 18 Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Tampa Bay W Close win 23-20, we ride Peterson to victory, 32 carries 170yds 2 TDs

3 Sun, Sep 25 Detroit Lions vs Detroit W 27-24 Same as above Peterson goes for 150, McNabb throws for 3TDs

4 Sun, Oct 2 Kansas City Chiefs @ Kansas City W 20-13 Defense stifles Cassel forcing 2 TOs, struggle offensively but scrape by with help of short fields.

5 Sun, Oct 9 Arizona Cardinals vs Arizona W 27-16. Give up 350yds to Kolb but hold Cards in the red zone. Defensive TD makes the difference.

6 Sun, Oct 16 Chicago Bears @ Chicago L 20-17, lose a close one as Cutler plays mistake free football.

7 Sun, Oct 23 Green Bay Packers vs Green Bay W 31-21, Statement game! Sack Rodgers 5 times, Harvin has the best game of his career.

8 Sun, Oct 30 Carolina Panthers @ Carolina W 24-6 No let down here as the D dominates.

9 Bye
10 Mon, Nov 14 Green Bay Packers @ Green Bay L 24-21 Lose a close one on controversial PI puts Packers at the 1 late.
11 Sun, Nov 20 Oakland Raiders vs Oakland 23-13 Raiders struggle to get in the EZ, sack Campbell 6 times.
12 Sun, Nov 27 Atlanta Falcons @ Atlanta L 24-17 Catch the Falcons on a 3 game home stand, Ryan throws 300+, valiant effort by McNabb thwarted by late TO.
13 Sun, Dec 4 Denver Broncos vs Denver W 24-20 Tougher game then expected, Peterson the difference.
14 Sun, Dec 11 Detroit Lions @ Detroit L 34-13 Team unravels, McNabb getss pulled after being sacked 7 times.
15 Sun, Dec 18 New Orleans Saints vs New Orleans L 31-24 Bounce back but lose against a good team, Saints make one more big play offensively.
16 Sat, Dec 24 Washington Redskins @ Washington W 16-13 Tough road game McNabb makes a couple clutch throws for winning FG drive.
17 Sun, Jan 1 Chicago Bears vs Chicago W 27-10 Bears pack it in, as Cutler is injured and Hanie is harassed.

This brings us to 10-6. Winning 5 out of 6 before the bye seems optimistic but the tough games during that stretch are in the dome. The first 5 games prior to Chi and GB back to back will be massive. I can't see us beating the Chargers but who knows AD was breaking records last time we played them

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic about the team this year than I had been.  Unfortunately, the NFC North is probably going to be the toughest division in the NFL this year.  If they avoid injuries and manage to surprise some teams, I think they have a shot at 9-7.  On the other hand, if they suffer any key injuries or have too many breakdowns, I can see them easily falling to 5-11.  I'll take the middle of that range for my guess: 7-9
