Agree on both.
I see Sharks/Wings going 7, but the Sharks prevailing.
And I really hope you are right on Nucks/Preds.
Vancouver is loaded with talent, but lacks that "something".

Great crowed reaction after the preds were eliminated.
They got to see what fun it can be, and appreciated the effort.
That franchise is rising.
Big Un tonight.

I loved the fact that they showed Scott Hamilton and called him Panger

One thing that was chapping my ass was Ecklund and his man love for anything vancouver related.  They (and especially Kessler) could do no wrong.  He could smash his stick across a Preds face and it would have been "Nashville needs to learn to keep their faces out of there.  I guess it's a penalty by the letter of the law but I don't like it".

Kesler would be my all-time most-hated player if he wasn't American (and busts his ass for us internationally)
He is incredibly irritating and effective at it.
And yep, the worst part is the fawning all over him by the announcers.

Sticking to my guns, Sharks will win game 7 at home.

Happy birthday, dude.

There is a short list of teams across the major sports that have achieved "Vikings" status - perennially good and never win and/or known for their epic gag jobs in big moments. I tend to root for most* of them....in no particular order:

Any team from Buffalo or Cleveland (*Indians excepted)
San Jose Sharks
Vancouver Canucks (*excepted)
Washington Capitals
Boston Bruins (*excepted)
Toronto Maple Leafs
Chicago Cubs
Boston Red Sox (pre-2004)
Houston Astros
San Diego Chargers
Philadelphia Eagles/Flyers (*both excepted)
New York Jets
Utah Jazz
Dallas Mavericks
Phoenix Suns
Portland Trailblazers
Oregon Ducks (football)

If I had to rank the top 5 "tortured" teams:

1. Vikings
2. Cubs
3. Bills
4. Browns
5. Leafs

Thanks Guys. Appreciate the thoughts.
Good list Corleone.
Looking forward to Game 7.
Time for SJ to put some bad memories to rest, and move on.

Happy Bday brother. Here's to taking in a game together one day!

I would add the Sens to that list. Forget the past teams. The expansion Sens have had more talent (and regular season wins) than any team I can think of, and yet, nothing...

Good call Jeff.
People look at me funny when I say that too ... to me, at least for awhile, the Sens were ALWAYS almost unbeatable regular season. Just steamrolled people. And then disappeared.
They had "98 Vikings" seasons for several years in a row, in my memory.

Any team from Buffalo or Cleveland (*Indians excepted) - It was almost like God liked the movie Major League. there is no other explanation.
San Jose Sharks - Cursed for sure
Vancouver Canucks (*excepted) - this is their year. Just ask them. Lose, rinse, lather, repeat. this is their year, just ask them......
Washington Capitals - They deserve to be losers with that fanbase. I can't respect a fan base that shows up in suits and talks shit that makes no sense. I use to attend every Cap/Wild game when I lived thier. Their level of hockey ignorance is astounding.
Boston Bruins (*excepted) - Good
Toronto Maple Leafs - One day they will win and Canada will implode from within.
Chicago Cubs - I hope they never win for what they did to Bartmen. That's going to be a killer 30-for-30.
Boston Red Sox (pre-2004) - see "Bruins". I can't understand a city where if you aren't a dirty scumbag bastard, you are a nerd. Yes, Philthy...I'm looking at you too.
Houston Astros - Use to have the best hat in BBall. Not sure why I said that, only, I have nothing else to say
San Diego Chargers - Best weather in the country. Screw em'. they got it all.
Philadelphia Eagles/Flyers (*both excepted) - worst city in America. Seriously. You invented the cheesesteak and put cheese wiz on it? WTF? The only city I've been to, true story, where the info booth said "not much" when we asked what there was to do. P.S. I hate you.
New York Jets - I respect Namath. What other man would lose all dignity and get s-faced on national TV and proclaim to Suzzie Colber "I want to kiss you ~~ that's taking one for the team
Utah Jazz - ??
Dallas Mavericks - Cuban, Stern hates him. Think of the Wolves and the lotto
Phoenix Suns - ??
Portland Trailblazers - The microsoft effect.
Oregon Ducks (football) - It's the uniforms.

Liked or hated? And how does Minneapoils fit in there....we're practically just as cursed. Maybe we're being punished for "Little Big League".
San Jose Sharks - Cursed for sure

Learned something new here. Surprising when you consider how long that franchise has been there and how many times they've been "close".
Boston Bruins (*excepted) - Good
Toronto Maple Leafs - One day they will win and Canada will implode from within.
Chicago Cubs - I hope they never win for what they did to Bartmen. That's going to be a killer 30-for-30.
Supposedly, it's the best one they did. Can't wait to see it either.
Boston Red Sox (pre-2004) - see "Bruins". I can't understand a city where if you aren't a dirty scumbag bastard, you are a nerd. Yes, Philthy...I'm looking at you too.
Only becuase of the "curse" factor, nothing more. 2 WS titles later and I detest them almost as much as the Yankees.
P.S. I hate you.

One of Monday Night Football's finest moments.
Utah Jazz - ??
They tore their fans' hearts out repeatedly for a decade. Never won a title with the Malone/Stockton core.
Dallas Mavericks - Cuban, Stern hates him. Think of the Wolves and the lotto
I think we're about to see a replay of the 2006 Finals in a few weeks. In just about every respect.
Phoenix Suns - ??
The Suns are huge in PHX and have been on the cusp several times, losing in heartbreaking fashion each time. Plus they've had notoriously cheap ownership cost them several other opportunities (see: 2004 Vikings).
Portland Trailblazers - The microsoft effect.
Oregon Ducks (football) - It's the uniforms.

Also, good call on the Sens above...totally forgot about them.

Yeah, I put the "??" on Phx and Utah because I couldn't think of a reason they would be cursed like they are.  Stockton's shorts came to mind but I was afraid they'd stay there

Going to be a whicked 3rd, 2-1 Sharks. Stop me if this sounds oddly familar to the Wild.

Wheeling and dealing at 2-0. Then, they score. That was at about the 5 minute mark of the 2nd. From that point on it's been all Detroit and SJ is playing the "hang on" trap. You guys know the pattern. Hope to God your keeper won't finally break down while all you do is take FO's in your own zone, lose them, and then chase until you get the puck, promptly lobbing it out of the zone. Rinse lather and repeat and you get tired legs, never a real change (partial if your lucky) and doom.

I'm shocked Detroit didn't tie it up. Not a big gamble here but I bet they do.

Holy Hell, now THAT was what Game 7s are all about.
Detroit went down swinging. Like a champion does. They are so loaded. I don't like them, but they are like the dominant Yankee/Celtic/Laker/Steeler - type teams ..... they never go down easy, they are full of professional assassins.
Fantastic crowd, all night.
And the Sharks had a really tough task, and got it done. Gritty bunch. Not a big Thornton fan, but he refused to lose a couple nights in this series and made the difference.
Niemi was outstanding.
That was a Ali-Frazier type fight, two supreme heavyweights duking it out for pride and presitge. Both were depleted by the end, and unfortunately, that means Vancouover gets the big advantage.
I don't expect much from SJ in either of the first two games up there. Wish I could, but I can't.
Damn, that was fun.

Western Final
Vancouver has been resting 5 days, Sharks will limp in after a brutal 7-gamer with a powerhouse.
I don't expect much fight in the first game, hopefully SJ will rebound by Game Two and make this as good a series as it has the potential to be.
Sharks are damn good when they attack. When they got tired and had to play defense, they were killed by Detroit. Its like the Sharks are two different teams.
The attacking one is the leagues best, the one on their heels, not good at all. Vancouver is loaded and will have an edge in over-all roster depth.
Niemi could win a game or two, and make the difference. Hoping it goes 7, and hoping the Sharks pull it off, but I have to go with comon sense and say
Canucks in 7

Eastern Final
Both teams may be rusty. Seems like forever since they played. Edge to Tampa in offfensive skilll and roster depth, edge to Boston in grit and overall defensive capablities.
Looking for a typical Eastern grind-it-out style most of the series, both teams can play that style.
2 older, fun-to-watch tenders who will be giving it their all, as their careers wind down. Don't see an advantage in either. I think Thomas will have more problems with Stamkos/St Louis/LeCaviar, than Rolo will have with anyone on Bostons side. As effective as Chara can be, playoffs really expose his weaknesses, he is slow to turn and slow to react at times, due to his size.
Tampa needs to steal Game 1 or 2 in Boston. if they do, they'll roll.
Lightning in 6

Why in the hell are we not in this discussion every year?
You'd think we'd be a natural.
They have all been very succesful, and we need to get involved. I'd think TCF Bank would be perfect for it, bowl shaped, field is fairly tight to the stands .... don't understand why we never go after this.

Good recap man.  It was fun.  The really cool thing is that I kept my streak of being wrong alive

No matter who won there would be good plot line moving forward.  I was kinda interested to see how Bertsleezy would get accepted back in Vancouver.  That was like a kick in the nads vs a shot to the nose (Heatley vs Bert).  No easy way out of that one.

I'm glad for Marleau (that f-ing Wild killer).  Seems like a good guy and doesn't get enough credit IMO.
