Unless they are seeded fourth or higher, the Gopher basketball team will have to play a higher seeded team in the second round of the tournament. (if they make it past the first round) It still feels like an early exit coming. That doesn't do enough for me. I am not on the Tubby bandwagon.

Big wins in consecutive games at home. Some momentum. Go on the road.

Down 2 at Nebraska, with 21 points, at the half.

    Lose at Nebraska. Embarrassing.

Stayed with the "senior" lineup too long. Worked against total crap Nebraska.Tried and failed. Great idea

Mav shoots the 3 to tie at the end. MAV.

BRILLIANT set up. Just Brilliant. What a great coached team.

The Magician strikes again. Perhaps one of his defenders can remind me how much he has improved.

NCAA bid on the line, vs. shit team with absolutely no depth, and our much improved, most athletic player can't even score one single point?

The future of Nebraska basketball is brighter than ours.

This team has no ability to impose its will or its style of play on anybody. However the opponent wants it to play, it obliges gladly -- especially on the road.

Play a rotten NW team with a junk 1-3-1 defense and little interior presence? Meekly toss the ball around the perimeter with little effort to get it inside.

Play a rotten Nebraska team with few B1G caliber athletes? Never run (zero -- ZERO -- fast break points) or show much desire to assert your physical dominance.

What is wrong with these pantywaisted numbskulls? What is wrong with this clueless and utterly insipid coaching staff? What is wrong with this maddening program?

Rodney picked the wrong school and the wrong coach. If he had chosen the PAC-10 with a school like Arizona, he likely would have been far more successful. Tubby's system absolutely exacerbates Rodney's flaws -- of which there are many -- and highlights few of his strengths. At this point, I have no idea why an uber-talented and skilled kid like Tyus Jones or Rashad Vaughn would want to come and be showcased in this pathetic offensive system. Go play for Coach K -- at least he knows how to use your talents.

I'll say this much: I'm as comfortable with Maverick taking the three as anyone. Not sure if that's good or bad, but he has shot well this year.

    But yeah. Sigh.

Oh, and this little tidbit out of ESPN 1500 headline:

The loss ensured that Tubby Smith will fail to finish above .500 in conference play for the sixth straight year.

    Fire-able right there.

"They outplayed us, outworked us, outcoached us and were very deserving of the win," Gophers coach Tubby Smith said. "We just didn't do some things. Shooting was a big part of it. They shot better from the free-throw line and seemed to want it more."

    Head coach admits being outcoached.

Too often Tubby is just sitting saying nothing. Must be shocked his talented team is playing like garbage.

Get blown out first half, close to 7, and then back to the same/lame losing formula. Bad shooting/turnovers/no defense.

If Tubby stays after this year, he's a magician.

    Wow
It seemed simple to predict this collapse a couple weeks back ,...
But when it eventually happens, it still stings.
    Yuck.

Obviously results don't matter. There's always tomorrow. Now that Mbakwe's ten years of eligibility are over..........we'll be even better.

    We peaked in November.

Who is a better coach, Painter or Tubby?

Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think the conference is all that good. After the top four, these are not good teams. And all of the top four have serious, multiple flaws. I highly doubt that any Big Ten team makes the FF.

Listened to Sid yesterday (briefly) while driving.......caller asked about Tim Miles......

Sid says who has the better record. Then goes on to say how Nebraska is building a new arena and how committed they are to BB and how uncommitted the U of M is since they still play in the Barn.

I don't know Sid but I think the U of M should have alittle advantage trying to recruit players that play an urban game into the largest city in the Big 10 (not counting Norwestern playing in a suburb) as opposed to recruiting players for an urban game to come and play in Lincoln Nebraska....

Yeah, Tim Miles has all the advantages coaching in Lincoln as opposed to all the disadvantages Tubby faces in that rural Twin Cities metro area.

You have to take evrything Sid says with a bucket of salt. Salt that seasoned with soy sauce and brined in the Dead Sea for years.

Yeah, I know.....but I think a significant number of listeners buy into what Sid says.

I have never understood why someone else can't put on a show and compete against Sid head to head. He has been senile for the past 15 years.

Good start. Then Austin Hollins 2 quick fouls, leaving too-slow Welch to hurt on D and plug up the offense.

Now 2 fouls on Mbakwe. No ball movement. Welch & Oto just hold the ball, clueless.
