Gotta admit that in spite of all the talk that the Gophers were going to win this one, I didn't believe it until I saw it.

So we had wins in women's hockey and men's basketball. Wish we could have made it a 3fer with men's hockey. I'm greedy.

So tough this year. You want them to win, but at the same time more wins means more time with Tubby, who is terrible.

Were the warmups the Gophers wore new or just an alternate one I've never seen

Down goes Frazier... Gonzaga is the first number 1 to fall.

Yikes. Gotta admit that Florida might be beating anyone in the country if they play like this, but we are our own worst enemies as well. I don't understand why Tubby has played Dre and Mbakwe probably only 10 minutes apiece in the first half. Turnovers, lack of any halfcourt offense (shocking, I know), and Florida shooting 300% is killing us.

Didn't like the free subbing in the first half, but I guess since no one could play D worth a crap, was just as well to try almost everyone.

Sadly the Goophers may have done just enough to save Tubby's job.

Sad ending for Mbawke and Williams....

Both of them enigmas for how much talent they have....sadly next years team with Walker and Eliason in the middle may be better.....we don't lose a wing we can't replace next year and I predict a better team.

I saw an interesting though posed: next year's team will be like the NIT team, only without Williams. Everybody will be 2 years bigger, stronger, and more experienced...and there are a few intriguing young guys (Buggs, anybody?).

Hopefully Tubby is back. I'm already excited.

The only way I could be excited about Tubby returning is if Tyus Jones, Rashad Vaughn and Reid Travis held a press conference to say they were coming to play together at Minnesota. Short of that, I want Tubby gone and I don't want him replaced with Flip.

Yep. This was a worst case scenario IMO. They beat a really bad UCLA team and then get blown out by an "ok" Florida team but still somehow Tubby ends up okay.

Florida is actually one of the best teams in the nation, and an argument can be made that they are the best. Ken Pomeroy rates them as having both the third best adjusted offense AND adjusted defense in the nation. Nobody else is top 5 in both categories. They were underrated going into the tournament, so the 3 isn't reflective at all of what they're about. Only teams in the tournament on their level are Indiana and Louisville. Florida is at least a step ahead of the other 1's and all of the 2's.

Completely disagree. Florida was playing as one of the top 5 teams in the country at one point, but they're not now. They're a good team, not a great one IMO. And they're not better than Miami/Duke/Michigan State at this point IMO.

Either way, this was a bad scenario. Stuck with Tubby for more years. They'll never win anything of note with him as coach.

I turned very anti-Indiana yesterday.
I've always felt they carried themselves to a higher standard. Not yesterday.
Cocky and chippy. Starts at the top. Creans weird, IMO.

The loss to us expedites Howlands dismissal at UCLA.

While that win probably keeps Tubby around, as others have posted.

When it shouldn't.

Slow starts, with too many players rotating so there is zero rhythm, can't inbound the ball, too slow to figure out the best defense, and later the coach yells at his best shooter to shoot less????

Please consider changes.

Crean is the anti-Indiana, to me. Knight, for all of his flaws, was about doing things the right way and building a program.

Here's my take: Tubby should hire a replacement associate head coach that's an offensive guru. Tubby can focus on defense, the new guy can focus on offense. Vince Taylor can be the head recruiter.

There has been one team that is fun to watch in the tournament...

Florida Gulf Coast.

Shooting and ball handling skills and been replaced by athletic players who clutch and grab on defense and can rebound.

Today's college game looks nothing like the Wooden teams of old where they had guards who could shoot and dribble.

Today, the only shooters are the three point shooters......

Many couldn't hit a 15 to 10 jumper if their life depended on it.

SMF wants the Gulf Coast coach in MN because of his Maxim wife.

I want him hear cause his teams play fun BB. The way it was meant to be played.

Can they win it all? No....because they don't have the strength and size that other teams have which is absolutely critical with the game the way it is called today.

Honestly, the Gophers have one kid that can dribble and shoot and chew gum at the same time. Andre Hollins.

And they can't recognize a zone defense if their life depended on it.

Tubby for coach of the year.

What a joke.

Far too much talent for far too few results IMO.

And a large chunk of the turmoil over the last few years with player issues has to fall on him. Either he's recruiting the wrong type of players/people, or he's failing to discipline them and mature them. Either way, it's his responsibility.

I mean, does anyone think that Tubby can take this program to an Elite 8 or Final 4, let alone a national title? I have zero faith in that at this point and think Tubby's done.

Time for new blood.

This is the third sweet 16 in a row for Florida....guys they are a power house.  Still no excuse for us not to make more of a game of it yesterday.  Letting their top two 3-point shooters open in the 1st half is the reason we lost.....we held them in check the second half.
