And once again ... Wisconsin playign their best ball as the tourney nears .... REAL coaching.
Can't stand them or their coach, but respect what they get done.

Hard not to. Sometimes a team overachieves. Sometimes a team gets better as the season progresses.

Take a guess on how many games the Gophers won since January 1st.

I don't usually talk shit about coaches, especially at non professional levels, because I know the job is harder than it looks. But......would the Gophers be much worse with NO coach? Seriously, turn 'em loose playground style. I bet they wouldn't be worse.

This is a job for Tubby. That's it. Money. Pay me.

Hear hear.
For obvious reasons, both of us.
its been amazing to watch the complete lack of preparation/adjustment/strategy.
it IS much harder than it looks, on every level,,, as you say ... but there seems to be a total disconnect with this bunch.
i think every die-hard fan even has to admit that.
Disheartening to see with this much talent.

And a couple airhead TC sportscasters biggest objective was figuring out who the Gophers second-round opponent will be.
They really don't watch games, do they?
Ummm, how about you play one decent game FIRST. Then we'll go from there, ok?

UCLA is a winnable game. If the right Gophs team shows up.

Gotta agree even though we at USD are supposed to hate SDSU.

I will always cheer for our sister institution to the north if we are not in.

The Women's Finals for the Summit League Championship was classic.....

SDSU beating USD 56 to 53 after USD lead the whole game.

A very good representation by our USD women in their first season of full Division I eligibility.

Even if SDSU loses against MIchigan, I hope Mr. Wolters lights up the scoreboard. This kid can play.

But Nate is just another marginal-talent MN native...............................couldn't contribute to a great great program like tubby's got going at the U of M.

Tubby wasn't around back then but I'll always be grateful that Minny didn't offer Ben Woodside(NDSU) a scholarship.

Very winnable. Especially with Adams out.

I think we are a 3 point favorite. Seems about right.

Why? Ben had a great career for NDSU and lead them to an NCAA appearance where they battled KU pretty well.

Did the fans in Fargo think Woodside was better than what he was? Sure.

But would he have crippled the U of M program had they given him a scholarship?

Was everyone other scholarship recipient on the U of M team during this time that much better than Ben Woodside?

I'm assuming that Mark was making that statement as an NDSU fan.

The Woodside story was so cool.
His family played hockey against my kids.
Remember hearing about him. And loved watching him the couple games he was televised.
MN never offers that type of kid a chance anymore. I don't agree. i think theres always room for one.
But .... probably better for him to do what he did for him personally.
The Wolters kid from SDSU is awesome also.
Cant wait to see him get some pub this week.

Wolters had SDSU & NDSU as his last college choices. I remember how bummed the NDSU coaching staff was that he picked SDSU. Now I know why.

It will fun to see how he matches up with Trey Burke.

Colton Iverson doesn't remember much from his last NCAA tournament appearance with the Gophers in 2010.

No doubt he's hoping Seattle gets another NBA team and gives him a shot. It'd be a marri(-jane-)age made in heaven.

I've been trying not to post in here too much for fear of becoming that crazy Gopher fan that yells at clouds.

That being said: we're dancing, and that feels great. I like the opening match up, and there is no team in the tournament that this team can't beat if they play the way that they're capable of. I'm going to enjoy the ride, however short or long it may be. And I'm sure as hell not going to cheer for an early exit, because that's not what this is about. No matter how old or young we are, we've only seen the Gophers in this tournament too few times. Making this tournament, no matter how you do it, is a big deal and an awesome thing. No matter what happens: it will be great, and it will be fun. I stick around for the thrills, the camaraderie, and yes, even the heartbreak. I've grown to love this team, even if they'll let you down more than you'd like. We won't see an athlete like Williams around these parts, nor will we see a physical guy like Mbakwe. The Hollins brothers (Lionel's boys, as Ben Howland referred to them) are coming into their own. There's a lot to like here, so enjoy it. No matter what happens, this will all be over far sooner than we'd like or imagine.

I'll leave you with this: http://vault.ncaa.com/?game=306SR265_s01

(Yes, I'm insane.)
