A few things they have going for them, hiring-wise: basketball-focused AD, not a total scrap and rebuild job, a chance for an up and comer to prove themselves in the best conference in the land.

Trying to be realistic, but the talk of Buzz or Marshall or Pastner is thrilling and only somewhat absurd.

"I want to thank the University of Minnesota and the people of Minnesota for giving me the opportunity to lead the Golden Gopher basketball program for six years," said Smith in a statement. "Our staff did things the right way and will leave knowing that the program is in far better shape than when we arrived. The people of the State of Minnesota embraced Donna and me from the beginning and we will always be grateful."

No on Hoiberg. No way on Stevens. Possibly on Grant (though his team is still in NIT). It doesn't seem like Teague would go for a guy like Flip. And Buzz is still in the Dance.

So...Shaka?

I'm not sure he'd leave for any other college coaching job. He's too much of a folk hero in Aimes.

@APkrawczynski: It's not Flip. I'm almost certain it's not Hoiberg. Beyond that, I do think most anything is possible.

And you know that any coach is coming here with the promise of a practice facility.

Her tweet could be right...said that there was an oral agreement. Could mean the coach is still coaching right now. (Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz)

I would think the only way Hoiberg leaves Iowa State would be for the money and the head coaching job of the TWolves. He wouldn't leave Iowa State for the Gophers.

I would be damn near comatose. I haven't lived a good enough life to be rewarded like that.
