Whoever is pursued now is looking at himself as no better than their 3rd choice.

If the potential coach is going to be turned off by the fact that other names were discussed, then he's too soft for the job. We don't want Danny Valencia coaching this team.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they went after Fred, I think it was media saying that. Fred doesn't seem like the type of coaches they attracted to their Villa 7 pgm. The story came from Ames and possible his agent feed it to get his guy the raise.

I'll go out on a limb and say they hire either the Marquette or Wichita St coach. They have ties with both

No they offered Fred the job and Iowa State gave him a new 10 year deal.

How do you know it's a fact? I didn't hear Fred mention it or Teague

Not according to Hoiberg.

If true then we have some conflicting reports. Last night, Srib.com and the local news stations were all saying the job was Hoiberg's if he wanted it. If this is a simple case that they simply contacted Hoiberg and the media ran wild with it then I feel a lot better.

Fred denied being offered the job in his press conference:

Stevens also apparently going nowhere:

Butler coach Brad Stevens will remain at the school, despite being sought after for the UCLA job, reports ESPN.com.

Stevens led the Bulldogs to two straight national championship game appearances in 2010 and 2011 and this season led the team to a 27-9 record before they were eliminated by Marquette in the third round of the NCAA tournament. Stevens has a 166–49 record in six seasons at the school.

“We value him and he’s an extremely important coach and staff member,” Butler athletic director Barry Collier said.

Mentioned this in a Twins' thread, but I really think the only place Stevens even considers is a place like Duke; one of the 5-6 "it" programs but still a smaller school. MAYBE Indiana.

And I'd even doubt that one. I think he'll be a Butler guy for life. Hometown boy and he's a god there. Plus I think he has enough confidence in himself (especially after TWO finals) that he thinks he can win at Butler longterm. He built the program so he has ownership in it. He'd rather be a Coach K than Roy Williams. Not even Shaka can say he's built his program because both Capel and Grant had success directly before him. Ditto for Few with Monson.

Flip is not a bad choice.

Common reporting Andy Enfield is the new Gophers coach. That's the FGCU guy, right?

How many different guys has he 'reported' being the coach, by now?

And Chad Hartman reporting Flip has emerged as top choice. A lot of this is like throwing darts so if they are correct, they look smart. If someone else is picked, nobody cares

He's playing the "whomevers left" game.

Enfield's team is still in the tournament, at least for now. I think the Flip smoke is more plausible.

I think it's Flip. Hmm -- who possibly could Danny B and Chad Hartman's sources? Either that, or Flip is trying to force Teague's hand...

Sid did mention Flip in morning article. I think he just wants someone he already knows. To old to make new friends

If Flip gets the job, I'm done. After watching the exercise in futility that was Flip coaching the Wolves for years, I am not going to waste my time following a Gopher team coached by Flip. If Flip is picked I don't want to hear the term Villa 7 ever again.

I can understand why. I just think some young pup waltzing in here with no clue of the HUGE issues holding back this program is a recipe for disaster.

And if it's Flip? Shovels are going in the ground for a practice facility ASAP. That's huge.
