Gophers rated #1 of the losers of the coaching carousel to this point.

Well, if a contributing editor to Pitchfork says it, it must be true.

Despite the seeds. Amaker can outcoach the hell out of Enfield IMO.

No I think he just got lucky.

Counsel, I believe this evidence is relevant to the national perceptions of the current job search.

I will grant you that the musical publication industry has totally soured on this coaching hire and Teague in general.

The Mackey article lists JB Bickerstaff as a potential candidate. Apparently NoGood talked to McHale about the search. Edit: Bickerstaff apparently hasn't been contacted.

Wow. Talk about rolling the dice, if that ever came to fruition.

That's just latching onto another bullshit rumor. Teague contacts arguably the most illustrious alumni of the Gopher basketball program. If McHale touts JB Bickerstaff that doesn't mean Teague is interested or make him a candidate

Amaker is not a 1-time run. He's had really good teams the last 3-4 years at Harvard. And he's recruiting well too. Even at Harvard.

I know you hate the word luck. It's just for lack of a better term. Circumstances have been decent for Enfield is maybe a better way to put it. His team barely made it into the tournament at all, then had 2 relatively friendly matchups for their position.

If you're going to give him credit for their run and Sherwood Brown's energy and play then you better detract for him to lose to teams like Lipscomb (twice), Mercer, Stetson, Maine, and ETSU, which are all terrible programs right now and were well below .500 even in the A-Sun.

Just saying I would not hang my hat on him at all as this "future stud coach". Maybe it happens, but it's not "likely" IMO.

How does losing to Northwestern, Purdue, and Nebraska on the road and almost to Iowa at home compare?

Even Duke and UNC has a few stinkers each year.

Phil, you always do these strawman arguments. NO ONE is arguing Tubby is a good coach. I've been maybe his most vocal critic on here for years.

I would actually say those are better losses than Mercer/Lipscomb/Stetson/UMaine/ETSU, but that's not the point. The point is to get a BETTER coach than Tubby.

As to UNC/Duke, umm, no, you will never see them lose 6 games even close to as bad as those. And the point is also: who did he beat? He had 3 quality wins all season, including 2 in the tournament.

It isn't a strawman argument.  Just saying, Florida Gulf Coast as a team and individuals improved as the season went on and it has nothing to do with luck.  They were ready come tourney time.

The two Hollins and Mbawkee probably played at a high level off and on the whole year.  Walker improved as his knee improved and maybe Ingram improved as the season went on.

Coleman and the rest regressed....that isn't luck or a strawman argument.  Tubby didn't improve any individual play as the year went on.

When Gulf Coast brought someone off of the bench they produced....we had 3 starters on the bench against Florida and got no production.

What I am saying to anyone that says Alford, Endfield, etc. are not good coaches?  They are in a list of 20-30 that did more for player/team development than Tubby.  I realize many did not like Tubby...I honestly backed him until he floundered with a team that should have made the sweet 16.

Them vs. Tubby is not a good argument for them being good coaches.

The strawman is you arguing that Tubby is a bad coach. EVERYONE in here agrees with that.

Actually I think Enfield is a good coach while stating the obvious that Tubby wasn't working and hasn't produced.  Tubby was a good coach but even he stated he had to re-dedicate himself after his prostrate issue a year or two ago.  I think Tubby lost his edge and I hope he gets it back with Texas Tech.  I wish him well.

I would have gladly accepted Enfield, "the shot doctor", as our next coach after are all our clanks last year.  Shooting coach for the Celtics and top assistant at FSU and 2 years as head coach.......pretty good resume and USC got him for 1 million/year.

And I'm not saying Enfield "won't" be a good coach. Just saying I think his reputation is more than his overall results to this point.

He has probably 3-4 years now at USC to rebuild their program.  Expectations are lower at USC to start and rebuild the program (but higher than Florida GC) and also lower than the U of MN or UCLA jobs but to get a team to the sweet sixteen in his second year as head coach, that is the epitome of results for that program and coach.

Skillz, who do you want to be the next coach?

Not a lot of "great" options IMO. I just don't think anyone's banging down the door to come to the U with their lack of history of success or recent success, and facilities. I'd take an assistant at a big program, as mentioned before, or I think they could do worse than Flip. Apparently that ship has sailed too.

You could be right SMF. If Teague really wants the fund raising boost that goes along with Flip, they could revive talks and try to work out a compromise. I just don't believe a staff of Flip, Ryan, Don Zierden and Gerry Sichting is going to wow a lot of recruits. Who knows at this point.

I'm really becoming more intrigued by the Dwayne Stephens idea. Seems like a good combination of Midwest familiarity and B1G experience with a young and hungry coach.

KSTP Channel 5 is saying to expect an announcement within three days. What they really and truly know...I have no idea.

The thing about Stephens is that he would already be known to the big 3. He has been recruiting Jones and Travis on behalf of MSU as it is.

It doesn't always work, but I like the "blue chip" coach assistant idea too. Who better to learn from than guys like K, Izzo, Boeheim, Pitino, etc?

One thing to say about Enfield......his team was fun to watch.

Love teams that push it up the floor.

Contrast FGC with Wisconsin.

And the view in the stands when FGC is not too bad either.
