Michigan ... I mean Northwestern ... just tied it up, and also grabbed a turnover.

Lots of talented players, but not a single guy on the roster that can create his own offense.

Westbrook gets it going late again...why isn't this kid scoring in the first half?

Bostick 11 in the first half, nada in the 2nd...

Okay - 31 seconds left and we're ahead by 10. I'm just now feeling confident.

Fortunately they held Coble to 2 in the 2nd half...MSU is going to crush them tomorrow...they just don't match up well...

The good thing, Ed, is that almost no one thinks we have a chance tomorrow. In my mind that totally takes the pressure off. We're not going to win, let's just use it as an intense practice.

I think they need to be at least competitive in the game to have an outside chance of the NCAAs..if they get routed, no way.

I don't know enough to know whether they're in the NCAA or not - but certainly getting routed would be horrible for their confidence going forward. So I agree that it's important to be competitive. I just think as a fan when my expectations are low, the pressure is lower.

Ed, I think they're in right now--barring an absolute rout tomorrow OR some teams winning conference tourneys that would not get at-large bids.

So what do you think...are they better served getting 1-done in the NCAA , or Tubby getting some fire out of them(that's not guaranteed) and a long run in the NIT?

As of right now, I think they're in.  Miami losing to VA Tech (providing Tech doesn't upset UNC) might have been the clincher.  A loss by Maryland tonight might help too.  As mentioned, there are a couple more possible sleeper upset conference champs that could ruin it though.

Take the NCAA every time. The NIT should never be okay with this team any more. I really don't think playing in front of 6000 people at the Barn does much for you in terms of postseason experience.

I believe the Gophers can do well the first week of the NCAA. Other Conferences don't play the kind of defense the Big 10 does and the Gophers do play a good man on man pressure defense

Minnesota's smacking MSU in the mouth a little bit right now. I think MSU will pull away in the second half--just too much athleticism--but it's good to see the Gophers playing confident and without the fear that they played with in previous times against MSU.

It's been a fun first half. Not only have they played competitively, but they've led most of the half.

I'm cynical enough to figure the second half will favor Michigan State, but the Gophers should be proud.

Could Brent Musberger be any more biased? He's pulling for Tom Izzo all the way. Phooey on him!

Playing some good D until MSU pounds it inside. Carter is too thin to handle their big guys. But nice fast-break getting it to Bostick.

Good first half, for sure.

Did not like that charge on Sampson...then the ez putback when the Gophs didn't box out to end the half

Yeah, not a good end to the half. Those four points from Gophers up 1 to Gophers down 3 could be big in this game.

How could they call an offensive foul on Sampson while he's still coming down and gathering the ball? A no-call would have been more appropriate.

They need to get fouls on their horses again early in the 2nd half. Carter may have six boards, but I didn't like his jumper he took late in the half...and he's mis-matched vs their big guys.

Someone like Mbakwe will help in that area next year.

I agree, that was a bad call. They have to give him room to come down and he wasn't given that
