Student section knew it was going to happen.

Announcers were saying how, late in the game, the barnyard was barely harassing the FT shooters of Maryland.

They're NIT bound at this rate.

If that

Friend of mine says if they don't make the NCAA Pitino will be fired.

It's his group of kids. How short is the leash?

Some faithful not very happy with young Mr Pitino down the stretch tonight
A tough Double-OT win over Iowa.

Good that they were on them. I watched 2 minutes of the game.

IA 3pt play
IA 3pt FG
IA steal/basket

turned it off. figured it was going to be another 2nd half collapse ending in a L.

The Gophs have far too many times allowed big runs like this. Inconsistent.

Pitino is safe for another year. After the stink some members of the Board of Regents made over paying out Claeys and his staff, Coyle isn't about to try to slide the cost of a Pitino buyout (much, much bigger than Claeys) past them.

I would have a hard time believing that if Pitino takes a single digit team from last year to likely making the NCAAs this year he would be fired.

Probably more likely to get Coach of the Year than get fired.

Sounds like we benefited greatly from a couple of absolutely atrocious rulings at the end of regulation. Iowa was screaming for a time out and the refs either didn't hear or ignored them. As a result Minnesota tied the ball up and based on the possession arrow were awarded the ball with 20 seconds left and tied the game to send it to OT. The problem is Jordan Murphy clearly had one foot out of bounds when he tied up the Iowa player, meaning the ball should have been awarded to Iowa. We got butt blind lucky. No two ways about it.

Mike Grimm, who calls Gopher basketball games on the radio, was on the other day and talked about how bad Big10 officiating has been. And he wasn't even making a point that they've been hurting the Gophers. In fact he went out of his way to say that it hasn't been aimed at one team or another. It's just plain bad officiating up and down and the Big10 should be able to do better than that.

Not watching many full games anymore.
If B10 officiating has gotten worse, my sympathies to everyone involved.

Wasn't sure that was possible.

I can barely stand to watch the Pitino's play.

You know they'll have some decent stretches, then play horrific ball for a long time.

Coffey is nowhere near ready for the NBA, IMO.

If they didn't have the old guy who transferred in, they'd be lost.

I think it's the price to pay in ball these days with so much 1-and-done. Too many kids focus on early out, and aren't ready to consistently play in a set offense.

At least not the one that Pitino tries to use.

Murphy is the biggest enigma on the team. Was our one guy last year that seemed to be able to take any matchup. This year his play has dropped---it could be the dominance of Lynch.

Mason, Coffey, Murphy, Springs, McBrayer, Lynch, and Curry at times are dominant and belong in the Big 10. Last year I could only say that about Murphy and at times Mason and King.

They really miss the 6'8" shooter that tore his knee in preseason....Fitzgerald. They are forced to be overly reliant on Springs shooting recently.

Though the Gophers (17-7) are just 5-6 in the Big Ten, they rank 23rd nationally in the Ratings Percentage Index, a formula the NCAA tournament committee uses to judge teams. And their strength of schedule ranks 16th in the country.

Following five straight losses in January, the Gophers have rebounded with back-to-back victories entering Saturday’s 11 a.m. game at Rutgers (13-12, 2-10), the worst team in the Big Ten.

Remaining schedule
02/11/17 at Rutgers
02/15/17 INDIANA
02/19/17 MICHIGAN
02/22/17 at Maryland
02/25/17 PENN STATE
03/02/17 NEBRASKA
03/05/17 at Wisconsin

Win one more?

That's setting the bar pretty low.

I expect us to win our remaining 4 home games (we are the favorite in those games) and it would be gravy but it would be nice to knock off a Maryland or Wisc on the road.

I think we need 4 or 5 of those 7 including the Rutgers game they won today......Penn State, Indiana, Michigan are the most important...

We need to take care of business in the Barn.

If we can do that we deserve to be in the dance.

Otherwise we will be an early exit.

need to get our mojo back for the B10 tourney.

Seeding is important.

Must win game tonight!!!

Wish I lived closer. I need to take in one more meaningful game at the Barn before I cash in my chips.

Gophers look horrible so far. 14 points with 5 minutes left in the 1st half. This team is very Jekyl and Hyde.
