As we discussed earlier this season, losing a shootout doesn't really matter, right? It's still a tie and a point. Or is it different in a tourney game?

Anyway, I guess that means they go to the 3rd place game....so that's not good.

Pretty pathetic to not win a game that should be a gimme.

Yes, only conference play for a SO loss.

So the Big 10 will use the same confusing point system as the NHL? I hate that, especially for college hockey. But I guess I would REALLY hate if they just call a shootout loss a straight loss and no points. Is that what they're doing? There are only 2 games every week. If you go on the road and play well enough to earn a tie in both games, you should feel good about it. But if you lose the shootout both games, you're gonna feel like it was a loss (need clarification on the point system). I can see shootouts in the NHL (but not necessarily like it) when you have a long season and things will probably even out or you can go out and play 2 or 3 more times that week and try to win in regulation. But in college hockey there are fewer games and shootouts are so different than regular hockey, I think it's just wrong to put so much stock into how they turn out. Makes the rest of the game seem so forgotten.

 Edit: Found it.

Taylor Cammarata (New York Islanders) led a potent night for freshmen when he got Minnesota (11-2-2, 2-0-0-1 Big Ten)

So the Big 10 is on its own point system, which is different than the NCAA. Stupid. I really despise the X-X-X-X record system.
