Pretty boring game.  2 bad teams.

Terrible decision on the fake FG there, pretty much taking 3 points off the board for the Goophs.

This is what I have always said ...
Officiating crews go into games with pre-conceived perceptions
Didn't beat us
Didn't help
We are much better, but still have a ways to go
You see some great calls, and then some stupid ones
We had one nice play call in the red zone
All the rest have been awful
Use Gray more
Not having Barker killed us
Nelson throws a good long ball
He had a couple where our receiver simply turns the wrong shoulder

Finished tackles would have kept this game close

Unfair how athletic some teams are
Their backups like Gardner are still wonderful athletes

We've got to work on developing some screen plays to mix it up
We're now either straight pass or straight dive

I agree Pete and I also thought that Nelson made soe poor decisions but he's young and can fix that with experience

I thought we played a pretty good game....one of the better ones this year. Two fairly even teams....much, much closer than the final score. So many points determined by the officials rulings and very near misses on our part. I think we "almost" sacked Gardner a half dozen times in the 2nd qtr alone! Wish we would have thrown more & thrown deep more. Mich pass defense is overrated IMO. Nice to see the Gophers hitting hard, something we haven't seen in years. Injury time outs seemed fairly one-sided due to that. Also so nice not having to watch a hack RB rip us big yards. Maybe the run defense is getting better? Just so much better than the Iowa & Wis game overall. The final score today may not show it, but were are slowly getting better.

I thought it was 2 pretty matched teams but their playmakers made big plays at times. Ours never did. We are getting much better but we need 2 or 3 explosive weapons. Once we do, we can compete in the conference.

OCord had a pretty up and down game too. The 2nd series of the game:

Nelson run left for about 2 yards

Nelson right for about 1

Nelson draw right in to the teeth of the D

Punt.

I agree that we are improving quickly. I think the area where we've improved the most is the defensive secondary. Coverage seems pretty tight most of the time, and guys are pulling the trigger and making some plays on the ball. It's too bad both starting corners are seniors, hopefully there's some guys ready to step in and play.

I think Nelson is going to be really good. He shows a lot of playmaking ability and I hope he gets better with more experience. I also really like the way the freshman RB runs, wow is he physical. Next week is a huge game to get to that 6th win. Getting to a bowl game this year would be a big step forward. 6-6 seems mediocre, but not many teams go from 3-9 to 9-3 in one year in power conferences. I still think Kill and his staff are getting way more out of these players than our past coaching staffs would have.

That's exactly right. This wasn't 58-0. This wasn't one of those games with two obviously unmatched teams. The Gophers were the physical equal of the Wolverines. Moved the ball down the field, played tough defense. With one obvious difference. Michigan was able to come up with a few gut wrenching big plays, while the Gophers stalled in the red zone again and again.

Frustrating, 35-13 doesn't begin to tell the story. This was a winnable game, especially with no Robinson. But they didn't make the big plays and Michigan did.

If you can't get fired up over a chance to play a meaningless bowl game in Detroit...

I'll actually be surprised if they win. Too banged up.
