Wisconsin/Penn State for the B10 title

Bleh

Not the 2 best teams, but the top end strength of the conference is impressive.

I disagree.

OSU picked a bad day to flounder at Penn State.

Not impressed w/Wisconsin either.

I'm impressed with Ohio State. Very young , but could compete with just about anybody with the possible exception of Alabama.
Michigan played toe to toe with Ohio State and is a physical and well coached team. Tough matchup with most anyone.
Wisconsin played both of them within a touchdown. Beat everybody else on their schedule.
Penn State I'm not sure of yet, but heck they are the 4th best in the conference.
I hope Ohio State represents the BIG 10, but Penn State can throw a wrench into everything.

Sitting here thinking...it could be much worse. We've been too hard on the Gophers football program this year and most other years. We are pretty consistently better than Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, Maryland and Rutgers. We're about even with Northwestern and Iowa...maybe JUST a bit behind Iowa these last few years...but similar success/failures.

Looking forward to beating Wisconsin today.

You and I need to have a talk, young man.

BTW- Bravo to the OC to keep throwing it deep when ML is throwing watermelons to guys quadruple covered and WR's who need telescopes to get a proper read on the long ball.

These whole f'ng "Kill" regime needs to go. I can't believe the top of Gopher football, in my lifetime, was Glen Mason's teams.

Been having this thought all year as well.
Glen Mason had us at a much higher-level of respect than anything we have done since.
I miss GlennMasonFace. There, I said it.

How sad that is. That is a pretty low bar. The program just flops along, year after year.

We get to a bowl game. Wheeee

So

What

After the 4th INT, we kept watching.

Wife:" why are you still watching?"

Me:" I want to see history. 5 INT's in a half has to be some sort of record."

To me the worst part of this is that attitude of being just good enough to make it to the post season has filtered down to the other men's sports as well. When was the last time the hockey team was the team to beat? They are now happy to just make the tourney.....so sad what has happened to a once great program.

Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.
More

One statistic encapsulates an excruciating meltdown that cost the Gophers a chance to swing Paul Bunyan’s Axe for the first time in 13 years.

In the second half, Leidner completed two passes to his teammates and four passes to Badgers defenders.

That’s right, two completions, four interceptions.

His four picks doomed any chance the Gophers had at an upset and sent them home empty-handed again after a 31-17 loss at Camp Randall Stadium.

To be fair, Leidner’s receivers deserve blame too after dropping a handful of catchable passes. But Leidner’s mistakes were killer, especially by a senior with his level of experience.

In Big Ten games this season, Leidner threw 11 interceptions and only three touchdown passes. He threw an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter at Penn State. He threw an interception on the final drive at Nebraska.

He tossed four interceptions in the second half Saturday after his team played inspired in the first half to take a 17-7 lead.

Leidner’s first interception changed everything.

And 8 wins in the season with the easiest schedule ever possible ... and Claeys is happy and excited to hear where the bowl game will be.

8 wins is not good when you have a cupcake schedule.

After looking at our schedule we had zero signature wins.

Plus, we avoided OSU, MSU, and Mich

It said in the story as well, that 8 wins was the BARE MINIMUM one should have expected.
Thanks, Tracy and Mitch, thanks again ....

That's what I don't get.

closing in on SIXTY years

And there is no effort to get there again.

Minimal to None.Maybe

Just like the Twins and the WS. Closing in on 30 years
Just like the Vikings and the Super Bowl. now 40 years
Just like the MN Pro Hockey and the cup, now at 35 years

Just don't get it.

I'm worried that Daily Gopher is an accurate sample of the fan base.

2 post game threads. Incredibly positive about Claeys and even Leidner - who some call one of the best Gopher QBs ever. Anyone that is critical of either or suggests other coaches get shot down.

Gopher Football. Where a lousy 8 win season is celebrated.

I've got a good friend who is a very important Gopher booster, and I'm fortunate enough to get texts from him during each Gopher FB game.
He's level headed, smart, much more compassionate and intelligent than I am ..... he is connected.
And even he's been off the Mitch and Tracy wagon for a long time now.
There's nothing to defend, really.
EVERYONE said this was the most-loaded roster we've had in a long time.
And it produced the BARE MINIMUM as far as expectations should have gone.

Leidner is the first Big 10 quarterback since Randle El to throw for 7,000 yards and rush for 30 TDs.

Basically because he's played over 140 games in his career.
