I was fortunate enough to spend a week at the NFL's ProBowl HQ in Honolulu. Met some great fans from other cities, and had some interesting conversations. Bumped into a lot of players, players familes, (a lot of siblings could pass for their more-famous brothers) and some media-types. No sense keeping my Viking Grief to myself, might as well share with my fellow sufferers on here ... It's official, we have taken on the role formerly held by the Red Sox, and currently held by the Cubs. We are those fans who get the "ohhh, Vikings fan? Sorry, man" It was very interesting, and depressing at the same time. Honestly, every conversation I had went a lot like this ... "What the heck is going on up there? I used to love the old Vikings, but it's sad to see whats happened to them lately" Sprinkled in with ... "Thanks for Moss, man. He has been great for us" And the occasional .... "So when are they moving to LA, have they told you?" Nice people, actually. Fans that go to the Pro Bowl I've found are hard-core, extremely positive, and supportive. Huge numbers of Steeler backers, and many Pats and Giants fans as well. Not your usual loud, heavy-drinking bunch, but mostly family-releated groups (from what I saw). Really got tired of the sympathy. It's time for this club to sell-out for one year. One magical year. This team, this state, these fans deserve a break. We've got a monkey the size of Texas on our back right now, and we need to get rid of it.
