Police Smelled Pot in Lynch’s Car

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports officers who arrested Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch for possessing a loaded gun decided to search him after noticing the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle he occupied, police said Wednesday. Lynch and two other men were sitting in a parked Mercedes Benz with no license plates and dark, tinted windows on Feb. 11 when officers approached to investigate if the car was stolen, said police Capt. Dave Tankenson. The officers smelled marijuana and searched the car and its occupants, finding four marijuana cigarettes and an unregistered .9mm pistol, Tankenson said. Officers were unsure if the drugs belonged to Lynch. Lynch's attorney, Gerald Schwartzbach, said his client was not booked on any drug charges.


I don't think it was Lynch they pulled over. It was the Geico Caveman.

QB Peyton Manning and Harrison hold NFL records for most completions (971), yards (13,090) and touchdowns (110) of any quarterback-wide receiver duo. But Harrison, 36, has lost a step and cutting him would save $7 million against the salary cap. The 19th overall pick of the 1996 draft, Harrison has 1,102 catches for 14,580 yards and 128 touchdowns in 190 games with the Colts. He has become expendable with the emergence of third-year WR Anthony Gonzalez, who caught 57 passes for 664 yards and four TDs last season.

That the split was inevitable became obvious during the network's Super Bowl coverage. ESPN didn't bother to invite Smith, the former Cowboys great and surefire Hall of Famer, to Tampa. "We thank Emmitt for his contributions to ESPN and work ethic the past two years. We wish him all the best," ESPN spokesman Bill Hoffheimer said. Smith simply wasn't a natural behind a mike.

Last offseason, Oakland spent millions to sign CB DeAngelo Hall, S Gibril Wilson and WR Javon Walker.
Already, Hall and Wilson have been jettisoned — Hall cut during the season and Wilson after it. Now, Walker could be next.
Walker is due a $5 million bonus payment March 3. It is likely that the Raiders would rather release him than pay him. Thus, for the second straight offseason, an AFC West team is likely to release Walker.
Walker’s bonus is injury-guaranteed and he finished the season on injured reserve with a broken ankle, so if they cut him, there will be a grievance and he will win.
But it still doesn’t change the fact that he’s likely to be released this week.
If and when the Raiders release Walker, he will count against their salary cap for an eye-popping $14.16 million. It is a huge number to absorb, but the Raiders believe it is the right move to make.
Fortunately for the Raiders, they succeeded in retaining some of their own players this offseason, keeping both CB Nnamdi Asomugha and P Shane Lechler. Unfortunately for the Raiders, the curtain is coming down on their failed free-agent class of 2008.


Talk about a terribly run organization. Al Davis should be committed when you look at these contracts he's agreed to and the players were terrible(Walker, Hall). Now he signs another one with Asomugha that pays a CB like a QB.

Walker, like a lot of the ex Packers, was mad at Ted Thompson, and they are the ones that tried to screw him. He's also upset at Favre for publically commenting, but it's Thompson and the Packers that did the damage to him.

But I think he's done as well. Better than Bobby Wade, so he could start here though.
