I think he should have gotten the 8 games:

Sources: Roethlisberger ban 4-6 games

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be suspended for four to six games on Wednesday for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, according to multiple sources.

When the suspension is announced, it will contain conditions that will allow it to be reduced based on Roethlisberger's behavior and compliance with clinical evaluators.

Commissioner Roger Goodell's verdict will reinforce a message that NFL employees will be held to a higher standard than the law.

Steelers employees were bracing Tuesday night for what they suspected would be an eight-game suspension, but two sources said it would not be eight games.

According to the NFL, water pills and sexual assault warrant the same penalties.

During the deposition of  your client who is alleged to have raped a 16 year old, it's probably not in your clients best interest to say to the judge "your Honor, I've known this man for many  years...".

While funny as hell, it's probably not the best way to introduce someone in a position like that.

If this wasn't an uncapped year, would the Raiders be able to cut Russell? All of his salary would have had to be on this years cap if I'm not mistaken

All of the prorated balance of his signing bonus, yes. And they could have cut him after June 1st, and pushed half of that cap hit into the 2011 season. If 2010 was a capped year.

If LT is going to go with the defense that he didn't have sexual intercourse with the girl:

http://www.tmz.com/2010/05/11/lawrence-taylor-rape-masturbation-sexual-intercourse-new-york-law-nfl/

We're told Lawrence will not deny he was in the same room as the 16-year-old prostitute, but his lawyer will argue Lawrence did not have sexual intercourse -- an element of third degree rape.

As one source put it, Lawrence engaged in a "masturbatory act" and that was it.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/05/12/lts-legal-defense-becomes-more-

On Friday, the lawyer for Hall-of-Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor took pains to point out that his client did not have "sex" -- as in "sexual intercourse" -- with the 16-year-old prostitute who was in his hotel room. But Arthur Aidala conceded that the evidence would show that there was "some contact" between the two of them.

shouldn't they pay attention to stuff like this:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/ny_crime/2010/05/11/2010-05-11_lt_hookers_giant_fear_he_paid_me_300_for_sex_but_i_dont_want_to_ruin_his_life_se.html

"He paid me $300 cash to have sex with him," said the petite, curly-haired teen whose pimp brought her to LT's hotel room. "I got it over with as quickly as I could. Afterward, all he said was turn off the TV before you leave."

.The teenager said she had another concern. "The condom got stuck in me," she said. "I told him, 'I'd better not get pregnant,' and he said, 'It's all right - I'm fixed.'"

Tough call from where I sit. NFL great, crack smokin' never had to follow the rules guy vs. 16 year old prostitute. I'm glad it's not my call. I do feel sorry for the girl, and I don't ever remember feeling sorry for LT.

With a perfect criminal justice system, we'd get the truth. Unfortunately, ours is nowhere near perfect. LT, because he could play football, can now afford to pay for a quality defense. Sadly, not all those accused have that going for them.

Very likely that a quiet settlement is offered. The State has no case when the victim no longer wants to talk about it.

Meanwhile, poor Raymond Towler serves 30 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit.

We have the best justice system in the world? Justice is blind? Innocent until proven guilty? A jury of your peers?

I know, wrong thread.

I thought they had a statement directly from LT that he had sex with her but didn't know she was only 16.  That's not the case now?

Not news but I thought it was funny.

Raiders press release:

The greatest wide receivers in professional football have passed through the portals of the Oakland Raiders or have been coached by Davis.

Lance Alworth Willie Gault
Art Powell Andre Rison
Warren Wells Bob Chandler
Fred Biletnikoff Jerry Rice
Cliff Branch Tim Brown
James Lofton Randy Moss

Now Darrius Heyward-Bey, the Raiders’ top pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, is prepping to join that select group. Heyward-Bey has enjoyed a workmanlike offseason where he has put in time and energy to prepare for his second NFL campaign, when many of those whose names mentioned blossomed in professional football competition.

The list of wide receivers should make any pundit or so-called expert think twice before putting negativity on Heyward-Bey. No one has come close to the excellence at wide receivers that have worn the Silver and Black. These performers have been the greatest players who have ever played the game.

That's AWESOME.

I wonder how many of those guy who "blossomed" in their second year put up rookie stats like this:

11 games, 9 receptions, 124 yards, 1 TD, 6 drops.

Maybe next year he can strive for a 2-1 catch to drop ratio?

Just suspend this chucklehead for another season. Love how Vick's attorney trys to scare off anyone from talking about this too much.

------------------

A spokesman for the Virginia Beach, Va., restaurant/bar where a 30th birthday party was held for Eagles quarterback Michael Vick said the establishment has surveillance video that conflicts with the account of Vick's attorney of the moments before a shooting early Friday morning.

A man identified in media reports as Quanis Phillips was shot in the leg as the party was breaking up. Vick's attorney, Larry Woodward, said Phillips, a co-defendant of Vick's during his 2007 dogfighting case, was an uninvited guest who was thrown out of the party before the shooting. Woodward has said Vick was gone long before the shooting.

Allen Fabijan, a spokesman for the bar-restaurant, the Guadalajara, told the Daily Press, of the Newport News-Hampton area, that the video was turned over to Virginia Beach police yesterday morning. Fabijan told the newspaper that Vick "and his entourage" were in two cars that left the front of the restaurant at 2:07 a.m. He said shots rang out 3 minutes later.

"I'm not saying that Michael Vick did the shooting. But he did not leave [long] before," Fabijan said.

Woodward, reached yesterday by the Daily Press, said: "I stand by what I said, that Michael was long gone before the shooting, does not know who did the shooting and had nothing to do with the shooting. Anyone who says any different better be very careful."

If a person or persons, get in a car and drive away, and three minutes later "shots rang out"..is it unreasonable to assume that the vehicles and their occupants could be as much as a mile  or more away?

Why should Vick or anyone else who "left the scene" be suspended or even considered a suspect.

Does Piling on Vick, Fit your "chuckle head" agenda?

Vick's attorney has every right to defend his client's innocence and any insinuation by "employee's", (looking for a few minutes of fame and maybe some bucks), that he had any involvement in a crime with no witnesses that can confirm or deny any assumptions by people with agenda's.

Got any Proof that Vick fired the gun?
Got any proof that anyone in his party had anything to do with the shooting?
Got any care or desire to "background check" the "chuckle head" who got "shot in the leg"?
Did he 'Say' Vick did it?
Or are you "just assuming" based on your intimate knowledge of the situation, circumstances, and personal relationship with Michael Vick..that he had to be involved?

Your "assumptions" and your tone of comment indicate everything anyone with any perception needs to know about your attitude.

It's unlikely that Vick will be connected to the shooting BUT if you PAY ATTENTION you'd get that he could be suspended for breaking his parole associating with felons/co-defendants.

And should.

But if the guy was an uninvited guest and was thrown out...Why should Vick be suspended for that guy being there?  He technically didn't break his parole...the other guy put him in that situation.

IF that is what in fact happened.

What I think happened was dumb ass was mistaken how long he had to stay away from these people.

I have a feeling he was there and everything was fine for a while but things changed X drinks later and when there was some squabble over Vick getting cake on his face. I think Phillips meant it as a joke but it started something.

Been wrong before though...

Having some **ckwad show up, uninvited, for OBVIOUS reasons, at a party, is not a damn parole violation, no matter how badly you and anyones else "desires" it to be.

I'd say that "throwing him out" was what you would expect from someone who is trying to clean up his act and stay within the guidelines of his parole.

The fact that some scumbag decided he "deserved" to "hang out" with Vic, has nothing to do with whether or not Vic is in violation of his parole.

Asshole crashed a private party, got what he deserved by being tossed out, and probably decided he would punk up outside as Vick and his new "legal" crew were leaving, and someone mexican hat danced his ass on down the road.

Vick and his entourage showed maturity and restraint by leaving a scene where "felons" were starting to try and crash the party.
But you in your "i own a pitt bull and Vick is scum" world won't see it that way, ever, now will you.

I am sure as hell glad that you are not a PO or a judge.

Did he get tossed out of the VIP section after bumping Vick's wife's hand causing cake to end up on Vick's face?

Just ran in and crashed the party and went right up to Vick in the VIP lounge and did this?

Doubt it.

At least my distaste for the man make sense.

Unlike your defense of him.

Coasts through life/flips fans off/spreads VD/brutally tortures dogs/lies/hangs with thugs4life POS...

What exactly is working for you here?

Let's take a candid look at your "issues", one by one...

"coast thru life"
Really?
an entire lifetime spent training and working to become a Player in the national football league constitutes "coasting" thru life.

You think it is "easy" to become one of the top players in a sport, such that the professional league desires your services?
you think the training and the physical abuse and potential for serious injury all through a lifetime of achieving a goal is some kind of "cakewalk"?

"flips fans off"

This is an exclusive Michael Vick act of frustration?
No coach or player has ever shown emotion or expressed themselves in a way that you apparently find "distasteful"?

Obviously a rhetorical question, because the honest answer is that "flipping the fans off" or actions similar to it, happen all the time, but lets ignore that, unless it involves certain types of players.

Brutally tortures dog"..

OK I'll have to 'give' you this, because he was convicted of charges related to the situation at his property Which would seem to indicate that dogs were "tortured".( POS, All should be euthanized until the breed disappears, baby killing, people mauling, vicious, worthless, dogs, But hey thats my opinion)

however, Michael vick SERVED his sentence in a prison, he has "paid for his crime" society has gotten their 'justice' as spelled out in the law.

I might never allow Vick to own another dog of any kind in his lifetime, but I am not gonna be the one to judge the rest of his life on a crime in the past, especially since indications are that he is attempting to "turn his life around", despite your obvious bias.

"hangs with Thugs4life POS"

So, Tony Dungy and all the players on his team and everyone else involved in his rehabilitation and reentry into society are now 'Thugs4life POS'....

Your "bias", to put it mildly, is as clear as a church bell on a crisp november morning in a sleepy little town.

You know nothing about Michael Vick, except what you read and interpret from information on the web or ESPN.

I suspect that unless Michael Vick allowed himself to be publicly flogged with a bull whip by some tattooed redneck in a wife beater tee shirt, you'd never be happy.

You have a distinct and obvious dislike for certain 'types' of players which is obvious by the way you post about those 'types' of players.

yea, you are a peach.

Are you talking about humans or pit bulls with this statement?  I can guarantee you that people have done more of what you describe over the years than pit bulls, but I digress.  The people that don't give a shit about animals and the people that do will never see eye to eye.  It's just a fact of life that we have to deal with.   What Vick did to those dogs is beyond un-humane.  People like Todd and I don't believe he actually paid his debt to society.  It's pretty much as simple as that.

Micheal Vick pled guilty (admitted his crime) and served his time.  He deserves forgiveness for that.

What I will say is that he was a phenomemal athlete, but a shit poor QB.

Danimal is right about cutting the guy some slack.

It's just a difference in opinion and I respect that.  I just believe he did all of that (and I agree, he did) just because he wanted to get it over with and get his career (money) back on track.  I don't for 1 minute believe he meant it.

I digested this for a while and can come up with nothing other than it is a ridiculous notion to argue with someone who thinks I am a peach because of my distaste for Vick yet holds the opinions he does about Favre.

Life is too short. I am glad for the chance to once in a while run into opinions that mirror my own. Glad you said something Jeff. You have been with me from the beginning though. Love ya man!
