Well, completely different time/less teams, etc., but ya.

I thought he had 4?  Was it 5?

Well then that would make Dilfer and Favre equal then wouldn't it?

How bad is Owens hurt?

The hard thing about comparing QBs besides different eras is how much, or how little, each is asked to do.  In Brady's first SB he really didn't do much.

He had Jackson like numbers in that one - 145 yards passing and 1 TD.

Even the Eagles SB he only threw for 236.  BRady won 3 playoff games where he didn't even throw for 150 yards and he won 2 more with just 201 yards passing.  That is very rare in the post rule change era (80s on up).

This just in ... The Pats are pretty good.
Back on their game today as expected.
Vikes record for points about to disappear.
Moss and Maroney are unstoppable today.

If the Giants hold them to 4 points or less we're OK.

I wasn't as impressed as you were.

Moss clearly no longer has explosive speed and Brady made a lot of mistakes.

The Giants may beat them next week

If Moss hasn't proved by now that he is still plenty fast enough to lead the NFL in  receiving than what does he have to do? He's still fast enough.

That wasn't the point.  The point is that he is not nearly as fast as he was.  Also, the last few weeks he hasn't gone up in the air to go get the ball like he did earlier in the year.  He has gone from 4.2 to 4.4 - which is still fast but he doesn't just glide away from everyone any more.

Already he has the best WR season since Rice in 87 - Jerry had 22 in 12

I remember early in the year a lot of people were talking about how the NFC East was so weak.  Now they may end up with 3 teams in the playoffs and the 4th team beat us and almost beat the Pats with their backup QB.

I'd still take Moss over any other receiver in the NFL at this point......hands down!

I would if we had a QB that could throw deep and keep the ball inbounds!

To have any legit shot at getting Moss back we would first have to get a QB that he believes can win and get him the ball.  I think any minute shot we had went out the window with that nationally televised disaster.  I am sure Moss sees that and says "same old Vikings".

The Eagles have a better shot of getting him if they keep McNabb.

Would NE let him go?  Belicek/Bady both respect him for his intelligence and fierce competetive spirit.  Moss wants those rings, I honestly believe he would play for less then market value (reasonable of course) rather then make the money and play for a pretender.   Minnesota? never will happen as long as their are links to the old regime, they insulted him deeply, no player wants to be traded from his original team at that point in their careers, and definately not a hall of famer.  McCombs is a jackass, had nothing to do with the topic but I had to say it...McCombs is a jackass and thats politically correct.

New England might let him go.  Right now I would say that he odds are 75% he returns but I could see them letting him go since

1. They probably get the rin this year
2. They have a very high draft pick to select a replacement or trade down and still get a top WR in the draft
3. They normally don't pay much for aging veterans.  They let Lawyer Milloy and Ty Law both walk.
4. Moss may want to get that one last big payday.

I think Moss may look for a team to pay a lot only if that team is a winner and has a real shot to win it all.  I am sure his preference is to stay in NE but if he already has a ring and NE is offering far less than market value he may consider another team.  I can't see NE paying him market value and moss has to realize this will be his last big contract.

I agree with JC.  It all depends on how the contract NE will offer him turns out to be.  If they low ball him too much, he'll walk, but only to the right situation.

Your correct on the NE history of spending on aging vets.  Moss is a one of kind player and unlike our foolish braintrust at the time I believe NE recognizes and respects him for it.  They also have a more mature Moss to deal with, if he was acting like he did when he was younger he wouldnt have made it through the season, of course going undefeated keeps that house of cards standing as they all are fiercly competetive.  His maturity will reason for the happiness through winning factor over the huge payday, I think he truly feels respected and is for the first time in his career.  He isnt pampered but rather pushed to excel and has been craving that his whole career ... Belicek is such a complete coach as he gets the most out of his players through discpline, dedication and committment to team, very misunderstood much like Randy.

Let's say, for the sake of argument, that Moss' true value at the end of this year is a 5 year contract for $60M with $10M guaranteed.  If the Pats offer him instead 3 years for $20M with $5M guaranteed I think Moss will consider walking for the right team.

If thats the offer and the his value is the aforementioned figure the counter would have to be high maybe over market and see the response as that is extremly low.  His agent would have to be very careful and recognize he is dealing with the Pats who value playing for them as a factor, meaning dont act insulted but hold your ground.  That said, I think Moss would sign for a three year deal worth 30 mill with 8-10 guaranteed and the Pats would be getting a bargain.  If they dont up no way he would sign for that far below market value, but with the Pats history of strong arm negotiation it wouldnt surprise me.

However never to the Packers. , he will always have Viking blood in him, of course for the right money anythings possible and then he can totally ruin the chemistry focing Favre into retirement and leave the Pack in a total dissarray.

Merry Belated Christmas Craig to you and family Peace be to all.  Thats sincere, of course so were the thoughts of a Favre retirement and disarray for the Packers but that has nothing to do with Christmas, well unless your a Viking fan.  God Bless.

ESPN just showed that the NFL network is going to allow CBS & NBC simulcast the Giants/Patriots game Saturday. I guess the pressure of the undefeated, and three record possibilities was too much. Or what ever, I'm glad I'm be able to watch.

ROTFLMAO!

Belated Christmas to you too Jason.  After how the WR corps has done this year in GB, I highly doubt that GB will even sniff near Moss.

I don't think Moss ever comes back to the Vikes unfortunately.  I think that ship has sailed and although I think Randy will always have ties with the community I just can't see him coming back here....If things were different maybe....but Randy is, after 10 seasons getting a little long in the tooth.  Chilli would most definately have to be gone and yes, there would have to be a QB here that could get him the ball.

I think however with Moss on the Vikes again with a QB of say McNabb's ability we'd see huge holes open up for AD and I think it would also allow for Rice to have an explosive season....It may be a season to remember.....if it ever happend!

Patriots Chance at Perfection Coming to both NBC & CBS --
Wed Dec 26, 2007

  • AP reports the New England Patriots' shot at history Saturday night will be available to every television viewer in the country after months of wrangling. Their game against the New York Giants, in which the Patriots could become the first NFL team to go 16-0 in the regular season, was originally scheduled to be shown only on the NFL Network. Fewer than 40 percent of the nation's homes with TVs receive the channel. The league announced Wednesday that the NFL Network feed will be simulcast on NBC and CBS. It's a major concession by league officials, who repeatedly said they would not show the game anywhere but the NFL Network. The NFL had faced mounting pressure from lawmakers in recent weeks to make the game available to more viewers.

  • I can understand them letting CBS cover it since they would have the game since an AFC team going into a NFC town. But why NBC? Having 3 Networks don't make sense. Might as well let FOX cover it also.

I know if I was a bar owner, I'd be pissed. They're lovin' the fact that people have to go out if they don't have NFL Network at home.
