I keep the same mantra about officiating: It's part of the game. Yeah, there are bad calls, but those in and of themselves do not win or lose a game. Just like injuries, a good team can and should overcome them. I'm far more pissed about the shoddy OL and DL play of the Packers than anything else. Those areas had far more to do with the loss than the officating. Last night did not help MM's Coach of the Year campaign as he didn't put together all that great of a gameplan, but I still think he's done the best job. If Wade Phillips goes 15-1 or 14-2 though, I think he gets it.
I agree that the bad calls (probably) don't win or lose games, but it's every NFL fan's god-given right to complain about referees. That's football culture. Otherwise, yes, the Packers displayed many, many weaknesses. Tony Romo was given all night on every snap. He just sat back there and waited, and because our defensive secondary SUCKED, someone always eventually opened up. Woodson's injury notwithstanding, Romo should not have been able to throw four TD passes. That is inexcusable for what our defense has accomplished this year. Also, kick coverage was awful. Huge field position for Dallas after nearly every punt and kick. Major improvements are needed. Our offense was actually decent. Greg Jennings is a star receiver -- how about Pro Bowl honours? But the major offensive issue was the lack of urgency in the fourth quarter. Why in the world didn't we try an onside after field goal?!?! We had nothing to lose and everything gain!! Clock management has never been a strength of this team.
