BSU continues to play musical chairs with its goalies. Wilkins started last night and stunk. He was pulled for Walsh mid-game. BSU is in a freefall. No wins in their last 7 games, and now tied for 4th place in the WCHA.

Can't get swept at home...especially against a mediocre team like Northern Michigan. Big one tonight.

Damn...bad goal. Could see it comin' though. The Beavers seem to have way too many defensive breakdowns. It's like they have momentary mental lapses that just kill them. Maybe that's why the Big Boys didn't recruit these players. If they have the talent, they lack the 100% focus. If they work hard all the time, they don't have the talent.

Excellent analysis Matt
THAT is what separates some of the supposedly top recruits
Lapses in discipline and focus really turn the top programs off

But then of course you could always play for Hakstol, so they have that going for them, which is, ya know, nice...

How do the WCHA playoffs work now? On WCHA.com they say the 4 winners from the 1st round of the playoffs meet for 3 games in Grand Rapids, MI. So does that mean the 9th and 10th place teams don't get a playoff game? This seems like a departure from the way it used to be done. Why not 1 vs 10, 2 vs 9, etc., and then the 5 winners meet in Grand Rapids, beginning with a play-in game for 4 vs 5? Why change the format just because some teams left the conference?

Sorry. BSU lost 3-1. It was strongly suggested we watch a movie instead of the 3rd period. Since BSU was playing like garbage I didn't put up much resistance.

BSU is technically tied for 4th place with 2 other teams, but they are effectively in 8th or 9th place because they've played more conference games than the teams behind them in the standings. Keep this up and we won't even get a playoff game.

Well that was a much needed and shocking 2-game sweep at Lake Superior State for BSU over the weekend. It keeps us relevant in the chase for 2nd place in the WCHA. Very much a longshot at this point, but I'm happy to see they showed some pride for once.

Wilkins played both games over the weekend. Looks like he's taken over as the #1 goalie, which is fine by me at this point. Walsh has been too inconsistent.

Sorry Matt, I didn't mean to let you have this conversation with yourself! That was an encouraging weekend against Lake St., which was needed after getting swept at home by UNM the prior weekend. We have to keep winning because we have played so many league games compared to everyone else. We could play well the next month and still drop a lot in the standings.

I was a little disappointed by the last month or so, so this sweep was a good pick-me-up. I think our strong start this year got my expectations a little too high and maybe unrealistic. We are super young, and a lot of our better players are freshmen and sophomores. Hopefully with improvement, we'll be contenders in the WCHA the next couple of years. I'm going to our games against Ferris St., so I'll get to see how we compare to the best team in the league. Also, I'm going to the Ralph to see BSU against UND on Saturday. Never been there before, so I'm looking forward to that.

Dream scenario: we sweep the Sue this weekend. I hope there's a big showing of Beaver fans over in Grand Forks on Saturday as we finish off the sweep. I predict we beat them in Bemidji tonight. I'm just feeling it. Rocket Club (with Chris Hawkey) is singing the national anthem. Good vibes.

Fast pace early in the BSU/UND game. Back and forth. Lots of action, but not really any shots on goal.

The Ralph was really, really nice. Too bad the Sioux play there!!! It was the same old story with BSU, we just got smoked in the first period. We played pretty evenly in the 2nd and 3rd, but we can't dig a hole against a team that good.

Couple great ones last night in the first MN Cup
That UMD/MSU clash was a war.
Gophs handled a very solid SCSU team easily.
The Bulldogs play like their hair is on fire. Should be a fun one.

That was a very good final tonight. I thought UMD really outplayed the Gophers, but a good game to watch. What a sick wrister by the UMD captain to tie it up in the 3rd!
