Crap punter

1 burned Safety

1 dropped TD by a TE

1 false start at home on the 2 pt conversion

and 1 blown miss of a hit on the helmet of the qb

In the end, it is just another nail in the coffin.

Oh and why was Thielen trying to return a punt from the 10?

Whoops.

Hit to helmet not called. Season basically over. NFL is a joke. Being a sports fan in MN is a joke. We all should do something better with our time and money.

I've been a closet Thelen supporter for a long time. But tonight it looks like he'll be the goat.

Poor decision on the punt return
Started thinking he was something he's not.
And it burned him/us.

You guys nailed it ...
Horrific OLine play again
Horrific punting
Horrific refereeing
Equals another loss in a string of them.

Not only was the OBVIOUS, BLATANT, there-for-everyone-to-see hit to the helmet not called ... but I guess now .... (first time I've seen this in 55 years)
They can now decide who has control of the fumble through replay.
Total BS
Elliott is given back the ball early, even tho the Vikings stand up with it.
Later, Thielen fumbles, regains it while on the ground momentarily, just like Elliot did, yet when the Cowboys stand up with it, its theirs.
No consistency in calls, no real guidelines, just let it flow and don't question, I guess.
They did give us some n ice make-ups on the holding calls that cost the Boys all night, but still.
The blurred lines between what is a good block and what is a hold get blurrier every week.
Frustrating to watch.

The inconsistency is maddening.
Corriente messes up another one. He's good at that.
Wrong angle then to see contact if all he can see is the left arm.

The umpire is back on the other side, staring at the linemen so he's oblivious to it.

Cowboys are not all that. There are teams that can, one will, beat them in the playoffs.
Overall, the kid hurt the Vikes running more than passing.

Bud Grant always had a rule on Punts, Stand on the 10 yard line, if he ball is going to come down beyond you...let it bounce. The WORST thing that can happen in that regard is your offense gets pinned deep. Theilen never should have fielded that ball.

He made some nice catches in the game too, so that mitigates his punt return failure.

Special teams in this game were terrible. Only the kick coverage units and Forbath were good (and even he almost missed one). Seriously, Did Locke forget how to kick the ball far?

Bradford got abused repeatedly on the hit that knocked him out of the first half it sure looked like the defender led with his helmet. and then the blow to the head on the two point conversion...Wow. Can't believe they got away with that.

Our Defense exposed Dallas. with the exception of Harrison Smith biting on route on the Bryant catch, they locked that offense down. They played a fantastic game.

This offense is so terribly anemic.

There is talent on it at the skill positions...but come on. you have to be able to move the ball better than this. Even with a shitty Oline.

We may as well start looking at what the Vikings need to do in the offseason, because even if by some miracle we make the playoffs it will be one and done...this offense is one of the worst if not the worst in the NFL.

We need a new RB as either a replacement for or heir apparent to AD.
We need a lot of help on the offensive line.
An open competition for kickers would be great.
and Punter too.
And I would have no problem whatsoever with the Vikings dedicating every action this offseason with fixing this offense.
Get a few new Olinemen. Get a new RB. Draft a Dak Prescott in the fourth round.

I would have no problem if every draft pick next year was used on offense.

And every Free Agent pickup, or trade (Joe Thomas anyone?) is focused on the Oline...

What a nightmare

Before the bye 5-0. After the bye 1-6.

Awful

The D played great. I'm wondering, though, what has happened to Barr? He hardly makes many plays.

Locke should have been whacked after a poor 2015 season.

Use McKinnon in the passing game more. I liked the 5 wide set. That TD is a play they need to use again.

I suppose its because our Oline is so awful... but no screens? Ever?
Jet showed some signs of life finally.
Asiata too.
Dallas is nothing to be afraid of, imo, either.

Barr is doing whatever they ask of him. That may not show up in the stats...but maybe his job last night was to cover Witten. Witten has no catches. He only touched the ball on the onside kick attempt.

Locke has had some very good games this year so it just makes me wonder what the hell happened in this game. why couldn't he get off a good punt yesterday?

McKinnon is like David Palmer, he's third down back. Nothing more. We need a better option if AD is not going to be one. and if AD is going to be one, we will need his heir apparent on the roster.

Barr's impact is reflected in how little plays get run to his side or how infrequently his man gets targeted. Teams have rarely screened to his side since he was a rookie. They figured out pretty quickly that he tended to blow those plays up.

Eerily similar to the Joe Mauer argument.

No, not even targeting Whitten would be like a Cy Young award winning pitcher, intentionally walking Mauer every time. The best TE this side of Gronk and Barr erased him from the game completely.

When you read stuff like - Where's Barr? What happened to Barr? Barr was a bad pick!...it's nice to see someone that gets it.

Whee, we beat the 2-11 Jags.
Thielen with all the important catches.
Idiotic play calling at times.
Jag receivers making catches on balls thrown everywhere but on target.
Winning out would be fun, no matter what it gets us.
Looks like beating the Pack and their wonderful limping warrior will be damn-near impossible tho.

Jason Witten had a long streak of games with a catch snapped by the Vikings. Barr shut him down completely.

Agreed.

First half great position to try and score. Kick field goals. Frickin SETTLE.

Then macho up and try to stuff Asiata down their throats.
Finally, when behind, they made an effort. Just don't get that.

The 5 wide was great last week. Guess you can't do that 2 weeks in a row.

21 was important out of the back field too.
Barr made a couple of plays, so it's good to see him on TV

I have no problem going for it on fourth and goal from inside the two yard line. but they need to be able to push and not allow penetration. They blew up our blockers and our RB had no chance. AD would have been toast on that play.

The Vikes were so obvious on those last 3 plays.

They could have just as well told the Jags what the play was.

Well they certainly telegraphed them. So in essence, they did tell them.

What worked was the fake hand off roll out throw to Rudolph for the last score icing the game. They should be mixing more plays like that in because it is more for this team and it keeps the defense off balance a little and just that little bit could have been enough for Asiata to score at least on one of those carries.
