Drafted for need, with a lot of needs, and IMO picked up a couple of talents.
I was pulling for Jefferson. He seemed to have "it" to be the #1 playmaker/nonQB on a team loaded with them in 2019

The dback apparently is a lifting stud, so strength shouldn't be an issue.

Get some line help in the 3 picks today.

All the gnashing over in Packerland will subside when they pick at least one WR today.

My wish would be to take a couple of the extra picks and deal for Trent Williams AND draft an o-lineman today.

Winner: Vikings
While many people expected the Vikings to take a receiver and a cornerback with their two first-round picks, not many people predicted how Minnesota would be able to fill these spots on Thursday night. With the 22nd pick, the Vikings fell into selecting former LSU receiver Justin Jefferson, an extremely prolific college receiver who caught 111 passes for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns during his final season in Baton Rouge. The acquisition of Jefferson should help replace the loss of Stefon Diggs, who was traded to Buffalo earlier this offseason, and it comes after many people projected the talented receiver to be gone in the teens, and certainly after the Eagles had made their pick at No. 21.
Minnesota was then able trade their 25th pick to the 49ers in exchange for the 31st, 117th and 176th picks. With the 31st pick, the Vikings were able to select TCU's Jeff Gladney, the sixth-best cornerback in CBS Sports' prospect rankings. A first-team All-Big 12 selection last season, Gladney paced the conference with 14 pass breakups in 2019. He would have been a fine fit for the Vikings at No. 25, so to get him plus two extra picks is a coup. Minnesota will likely use at least one of the extra picks they acquired on Thursday night to further address their secondary, a unit that lost Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander during free agency.

Watched the draft on ABC/ESPN last night.

One thing that struck me from the 4 hours of it:

Your Mercedes Benz dealer understands you in these difficult times and wants to try to help.

Um

In these difficult times, I'm trying to buy a Mercedes...times aren't really very difficult in the first place.

BAD ad. But what else are they going to say?

Yeah, I know they sign free agents.

But could they really have wanted a big tackle that was barely on anyone's draft charts over a couple of these guys?

Loved the comment that the 2 picks traded for 2021 picks was a great job by RS to help the next GM out.

I've heard a similar ad for Lexus

Our #1 concern/blah blah blah is you

Um....well, if you're buying a Lexus, it's not exactly tough times.
These attempts at being all "touchy-feely" and such are pretty weak.

SI.com did a 2021 mock draft

Vikes taking a DL from FLA State

Trey Lance going to the Patriots

Scott would you be unable to walk for a bit if that happened?

The guy from Oregon State?

D+ grade being drafted; meaning there were much better guys out there.

Frame lacks thickness and density
Core strength is below average
Just a modest push can bounce him back into the pocket
Plays with excessive amount of forward lean and waist-bend
Below average upper-body power
Pass-pro base is a little too narrow
Below-average recovery athleticism and strength

And yet he blocked the opposing pass rushers better than every other OT in the nation. D+ grade according to who? I doubt that was the report from PFF? I'm not a big PFF guy but for 500 pass protection snaps he gave up 5 pressures and only 1 sack. That's 1 pressure per 100 attempts and 1 sack per 500. That's less than half a pressure per game and 1 sack per season. Did you possibly list only his negatives and not his positives? Now he's obviously lacking some traits that teams are looking for or he would have been drafted earlier, but I am highly encouraged by what he has done while actually playing football games.

From PFF

New Vikings additions:

Blake Brandel OT from Oregon State
90.0 overall grade
93.1 pass block grade
82.5 run block grade

#1 Graded Pass Blocker in college football.
#6 graded OT overall.

I"m not a subscriber to PFF so this is all I could find right now.

Channeling his inner Moss

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/justin-jefferson-vows-to-make-teams-that-passed-on-him-“pay”/ar-BB13r7hw?ocid=spartanntp

Henry Ruggs went 12th overall to the Raiders. The Broncos drafted Jerry Jeudy with the 15th choice. The Cowboys had CeeDee Lamb fall to them at 17. The Eagles selected Jalen Reagor at No. 21.

Justin Jefferson‘s unanticipated wait ended with the 22nd choice when Vikings called his name.

“I mean, yes,” Jefferson said Thursday on The Zach Gelb Show when asked if he was surprised by the wait. “I felt like I was the best receiver in this draft class, and being the fifth receiver off the board, it kind of was a shocker. But also having that on my shoulder going into this next season with Minnesota, I’m definitely excited to show the world what I have.”

Jefferson made 111 catches for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns in LSU’s national championship season.

He vows that every team that passed on him will pay for their mistake.

“Every single person that picked a receiver instead of me are going to pay,” Jefferson said. “I’m going to show them that I am the better receiver than the pick that they had. . . . I’m definitely excited to go into Minnesota and [compete] for [a] Super Bowl.”

He should make all the teams that didn't pick him pay, not just the receiver pickers.

Moss very much had it in for Dallas. They had 2 picks and needed a WR. I think they even told him they were going to draft him.

Shula dead. Well he lived until 90. Not a bad run. I remember Shula talking about the Super Bowl that year. He said it's going to be boring. We're going to control the ball with the run and our D is going to shut them down. The final score was 14-7 and it was never in doubt.
