It's okay; the Packers and Rodgers will disappoint again just like they have been for several years now. And they will blame injuries again.

Just like 2010 when they had all kinds of injures and won the Super Bowl.

I think it's in the Vikings best interest that Ponder has a big game tonight. Even if he does, I think the team has moved on from him. If he has a big game, other teams might offer more in a trade

I honestly don't think it will make much of a difference. Unless he throws for like 450 yards 3 tds and no INTS and looks like a QB prodigy in the process...

There's about three years of game tape on the guy. The fact that he got 0 playing time in two straight preseason games is a glaring warning claxon. Even Blaine "sucks more than Ponder"m got playing time this preseason (and predictably sucked).

If Ponder gets us anything it will be a miracle imho.

I was reminded yesterday why everyone around the country hates Packer fans. I was volunteering at the Minnesota State Fair in a children's play area and at my station kids were spinning a wheel with all of the letters of the alphabet. Whichever letter the wheel landed on, the kids were invited to think of a word that starts with that letter. There was a family of a mom and two boys, the youngest about five and the oldest about ten. When the little one got the letter "V" he was trying hard to think of a word, so I prompted him by saying - "How about the football team? They wear purple." He was pretty little and still had the deer in the headlights look, so I suggested the answer "The Vikings!"

Big brother reared up and got right in my face and SHOUTED at me - "NOOOOO. The Packers rule!"

He was furious and by the way in spite of his young age he was as tall as me and probably had 75 pounds on me. I backed up I was so startled. The mom reacted as if this was no big deal and they moved on.

It's that kind of arrogant, in-your-face, I'm-better-than-you-because-I-wear-clothes-that-look-like-cheese mentality that the kids could only learn from their parents and their peers. You're at a state fair in Minnesota, it's very possible the subject of the Vikings is going to come up somewhere. Get over yourselves Wisconsin transplants, and quit teaching your kids to be such assholes because they just might grow up and then where will it have gotten them?

Ok, you didn't think I was just going to let that go without a comment did you? I've got my own "Viking fans are assholes story". I was at a Twins/Brewers game at Miller Park a few years ago. Some guy (around age 20 I would guess) was wearing a jersey. A Joe Mauer jersey? No. A Justin Morneau jersey? No. A Randy Moss jersey. Not only did he look extremely out of place but loudly was proclaiming how great the Vikings were and how the Packers sucked - at a baseball game.

Moral of the story - fans suck everywhere!

Hey - you found him. I heard there was a jerky Viking fan out there somewhere.

I was going to one-up that story but decided that I made my point. Even my husband, the Packer fan, is really disgusted with the behavior of his fellow fans. Let's just say that he is done dishing out good money to attend games at Lambeau. His nephew, a college student and a lifelong resident of Green Bay, Wisconsin, confided in me recently that he hates Packer fans. He still roots for the team, at least as much as he roots for any sports team (negligible), but he is always embarrassed by the behavior he sees from fans.

If they didn't spend so much of their energy trying to tell everyone what great fans they are the proof of the opposite wouldn't be so glaring. Most fan bases spend their energy cheering for their team and enjoying the games and/or kicking a rock when things don't go so well. I just don't know any other fan base that spends as much time trying to convince the world that no one is better than they are as Packer fans do.

Love this post
Every once in awhile I need Lynn to get "fed up" with stuff.
I feel better then.

And that behavior is VERY typical in my dealings as well.
Kerry's probably the calmest, most-likable Packer fan I know.
Most are crazy-obnoxious. The one group I try to avoid at all costs. We don't have a lot of ammo in the bin to use against them.
Cannot wait until one day we do. Payback won't be pretty. Even if I am in my late 110s by that time.

If you ever got to Lambeau you'd see many Packer fans are very nice. I often see tailgaters inviting other teams fans to join them for a drink or too - when the other teams fans aren't obnoxious. Of course there is a big enough group of fans who are going to be drunken assholes to everyone. I know it's hard to believe but I've heard numerous stories from Packer fans about how they were treated like shit at the Metrodome.

I'm jealous.....

They, you, had Bart Starr.......while we had Fran, it was also the same Fran that hosted an SNL after losing again in the Super Bowl and made a joke out of it.........

before we go any further, I'd like to say something about the kind of people here on "Saturday Night". They asked me to do this show a week before the Superbowl, and, uh -- I thought if we lost the game, "Saturday Night" would be well within their rights to, uh, call me the next day and cancel. Well... [ he chuckles ] I was wrong, and, uh, they called me at Half Time.

Now, I want everyone to know -- especially you Vikings fans out there -- that the Vikings aren't dead yet. [ the audience cheers ] Uh -- we're a team, uh, built on pride and discipline. And, next July, we're going back to Mankato, Minnesota -- we're gonna work harder than ever. We're gonna put on those bonnets and purple jerseys, and strap those little shoulder pads on, and I guarantee ya' that... we'll BE in that Superbowl next season!

Now, I am going, yeah yeah yeah....and then

And I predict... we'll lose again.

I could have killed him right then and there.

Then you get Brett Farve.....maybe cocky, arrogant but you get a super bowl.

We get an old Brett Farve to get us close but we "missed it by this much"

you get Aaron Rodgers......we get Christian Ponder.

Yeah.........I am jealous.

Needless to say, after four super bowl losses......I don't think Bud Grant is the god of football coaching.

Win the big one Bud.....you had your chances.

That's why TK will always be special.

And Gardy is crap.

I'm jealous of the gifts that the Packers continue to get from the refs, but I've always assumed they paid lots of money under the table for those.

Kidding. Just kidding. Kind of. Not so much.

Yeah, one bad call. Of course if they hadn't given the Packers a total gift PI call earlier in the game the Packers would have punted instead of getting a new set of downs and scoring their one TD of the game. Had THAT not happened, Seattle would have been kneeling at the end of the game, not throwing a hail Mary.

Tossing up one questionable call doesn't exactly even up YEARS of gifts.

Gosh - Scott and I pointed out the same call. That was why it was so ridiculous that Packer fans whined for MONTHS about that call. They were perfectly fine with a bad call earlier in the game when it favored them but somehow thought they were victims when it went the other way later.

Has anyone brought up the fact that the Packers shouldn't have even been in the playoffs in the Super Bowl year. If I remember correctly a game that was so bad the NFL apologized for the refereeing (the Vikings game) allowed them in the playoffs at all that year.

Damn nice preseason.
Finished it off in style with a smothering.
Just like our physicality and mind-set sop much better than it has been.
We start for real next week, but it sure seems we've taken some real positive strides.

Tonight was the perfect example of how a "good" QB will WIN you games, and a "serviceable" one will lose you games.
Look at Ponder, made some ok throws, made some plays, moved the team ... UNTIL IT REALLY COUNTED.
Could not finish drives. THATS been Vikings football for years. Cassel and Bridgewater finish drives, they get the big first downs, they move the chains. Ponder comes up just short and we keeeek the field goal.

My boy Thielen with a nice TD, hoping he hangs on and makes it.
You start thinking at the start of the game ... "gonna be tough to cut down" but then at the end ... theres some real bone-heads still running around out there.
There were about 4 or 5 unknowns on D who basically cut themselves that last quarter.

On to the regular season. Don't understand this "hope we can beat the Rams". Don't like that attitude out of the fan base.
If we can't, especially with their recent issues, then we aren't that relevant.
