Correia in the game for a Coors Field mop-up beating for the Dodgers. Taking it for the team.

for LA so far this year his ERA is 7.23 with a 1.61 WHIP

sounds about right.

As for appreciation, many loved the way Morneau hit, especially around his MVP year. But he also had a hard time staying on the field......freak injuries? Many of them were......but some players just seem prone to freak injuries. When his concussion at second occurred, he was absolutely raking at the time. Then a guy knees him in the head at second.....purely accidental and boom, a concussion........and his helmet was on at the time if I recall.

Look at his stats, new, old whatever between 2011, 2012, and 2013, compare those to his stats between 2005 and 2009 plus the fact that he only played in 81 games in 2010 and tell me who wouldn't say that he was done?

Concussions take a LONG time to heal sometimes. The human brain is not to be messed with. That's all it was with Morneau. And it's what gives many of us hope on Mauer that he will return to 2013 form. If he hits like he did in 2013 (which is very similar to his entire career) in 2015 and beyond, not only will he be earning his contract, but this offense will go from "very good" to "great". IMO.

Rick Anderson needs to go. As do Ryan and Gardy.

Vance Worley had eight shutout innings yesterday, giving him 2.93 ERA and 75/22 K/BB ratio in 104 innings for Pirates.

Pirates have gotten 417 innings of 3.15 ERA from Francisco Liriano and Vance Worley for total cost of less than the Twins paid Mike Pelfrey.

Good buddy Pirates fan sends me these updates almost daily unfortunately. Rick sucks. We'd be a playoff team almost without doubt with a rotation of:

Liriano
Garza
Lohse
Worley
Gibson

The bullpen would look really good too with the innings those guys would be providing.

Wilson Ramos

And did we let a one David Ortiz leave.....no, we must have gotten a ton for him....surely we must.

The organization still thinks back to the trade of AJ for Nathan, Liriano and Bonzer and the rule 5 pickup in Santana and think we are just sooo much smarter than everyone else.

By the way, Wilson's line: 83game 321ab's 30 runs 87 hits 12doubles 11HR's 46rbi's
.271 .305 .411 .716

obp is too low but 11 homers and 46 rbi's in 80+ games. And he is now an ancient 26 years old.

But when he was here, he wasn't good with the pitchers and didn't call a good game.

Yes, there is some shortage of talent right now......

But when Gardy and RA return for 2015, that will be one more year of trying to develop our young talent with nimrods like Gardy in charge.

Right-handed slugger Josh Willingham has decided to retire following the conclusion of the 2014 campaign, according to a report from Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. According to Berardino, the 35-year-old Willingham has told people close to him that he is “100 percent retiring,” although agent Matt Sosnick tells MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes (Twitter link) that “Josh and [his wife] Ginger haven’t made a definitive decision.”
