The Oakland Athletics have signed Bobby Kielty to a 2-year $4.5 million contract in hopes that he can solidify the team's needs in left field and designated hitter.

Scott Baker will start for LAD Sunday, apparently

This is for you Matty, from Gleeman

Best adjusted ERA+ among Twins pitchers with 75+ starts since 1990:

141 - Santana
113 - Radke
108 - Tapani
103 - Erickson
102 - SCOTT BAKER

Win Probability Added for Twins starters since 1980:

15.7 - Johan
10.8 - Radke
10.2 - Viola
5.2 - Baker

Too many act like Baker was a bum.

I'd like it better if it wasn't coming from Gleeman.

Delmon Young had 5 rbi the other day.
Always been his problem, he didn't read the email saying RBIs don't matter.
Also does him no good in pursuit of the Modern Triple Crown

The Braves have released veteran reliever Matt Capps, according to the International League transactions page. Capps, a former closer for the Pirates, Nationals and Twins, last appeared in the big leagues in 2012. He pitched just 12 minor-league innings in the last two seasons in the Indians system while dealing with shoulder issues, and he had not yet appeared in a game in 2015.

He is actually 31, but that is amazing as well. He was 27 when the Twins got him. He looked at least ten years older. His makeup was "off the charts" though.

On Capps' mental makeup:

His makeup is off the charts. He will fit in very well with this ball club. We've had a great run over the last few years of adding quality people

Another interesting thing about Matt Capps is that his middle name is "Dicus"
I shit you not.

Baker DFA

The Dodgers signed the 33-year-old Baker last month after the Yankees cut him near the end of Spring Training. He made two starts for Los Angeles, allowing seven runs while striking out eight and walking three in 11 innings.

The Angels have designated catcher Drew Butera for assignment, director of communications Eric Kay announced on Twitter. Carlos Perez will be brought up to take his spot.

Butera, 31, was installed as the team’s backup this year after the trade of Hank Conger. The journeyman has just three singles in 21 plate appearances this year. Over 754 turns at bat at the big league level, he owns a .183/.238/.266 slash.

The Nationals have acquired outfielder Darin Mastroianni from the Phillies in exchange for cash, Philadelphia announced. Mastroianni was signed to a minor league deal over the winter.

It seems likely that the Nats’ interest in Mastroianni relates to their recent loss of Reed Johnson to surgery. The team has top prospect Michael Taylor available to serve as a right-handed-hitting, center-field-capable bench option, but probably prefers that he receive everyday playing time with Denard Span back in the lineup. (It doesn’t hurt, of course, that Taylor won’t accrue service time while at Triple-A.)

It remains to be seen whether Mastroianni will head right to the big league roster. The fleet-footed 29-year-old has four seasons and 306 plate appearances under his belt at the MLB level. This year, at Triple-A, he has slashed .293/.333/.362 over 64 turns at bat.

Just looky looky at those numbers.
Trust me, they're not deceiving.
