Cedar Rapids, IA - The Midwest League announced the rosters for the 50th MWL Summer All-Star Classic, scheduled for June 17, 2014 at Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, MI, and the Cedar Rapids Kernels had three players selected to the team. The All-Stars were nominated and selected by the field managers of the 16 MWL teams.

Three Kernels were selected as reserves: Bryan Harr was selected as a reserve infielder and Kohl Stewart and Yorman Landa were selected as pitchers.

No team from either division had more than two starters. South Bend had the most players selected with six (two starters, four reserves) while Peoria (one starter, four reserves) and Wisconsin (two starters, three reserves) each had five from the West
.

Landa is a bullpen guy, currently on the DL.

The move from NBritain to Hartford won't really affect me, except for higher ticket and parking prices. NewBritain is only maybe 15 miles from Hartford. And, it would be a return to my childhood, when I grew up watching Hartford Chiefs in the Eastern League.
--But, there are many unusual aspects to this deal. The city of Hartford supposedly will pay the entire costs of the stadium on their own, and Hartford is in bad economic shape. The consultant's report touting all the economic benefits to the city has a number of really bizarre assumptions. The NewBritain owner just bought the team a couple of years ago, and apparently had planned this move from day-1. He's an absentee owner, whereas the prior 2 owners (Bill Dowling, and Joe Buzas before him) were hands-on guys.
--Hartford has been burned before: NHL Whalers move to N.Carolina came just after team was bought by a Detroit guy; NFL Patriots used a fake move to Hartford to force state of Massachusetts into building new stadium. In both cases, then Governor John Rowland was made to look like a fool; he won't be involved this time - he went to prison on bribery conviction, and now faces a 2nd prison term for political campaign illegal activities.

I get the sneaking suspicion that Florimon will soon be foisted back upon us, whether we like it or not ....

If Escobar wasn't hitting, it would have happened by now.

Despite the TEN errors he's committed in AAA.

For a 2nd round pick, college starter, Eades is having a tough go of it in pro ball.

Eades was supposed to be one of those mid-rotation at best level starters, but was supposed to be able to advance through a minor-league system quickly. Not too promising at this point.

Interesting information. Thanks for the insight.

At some point Chick Correia has to be cut loose and Myer brought up.

Quote from Twins scout to McMurfy at t-ball game two weeks ago on Meyer.

Actually, know that they think they're in it, he'll be in soon I bet.

ugh, could not find a recent Madelero blog, but guess what?
He is a HUGE Twitter guy.

Hey newspaper guy, Twitter is a competitor to your fish wrap, way to speed up your walking papers.

Anyways, read the link. He sucks.

One more reason Twitter sucks.

Mandelero loves it.

Much easier writing 130 letter Tweet than standard length opinion or beat columns.

Lavelle

There's a real chance that Miguel Sano will be able to DH some minor league games before the end of the season.
