18 year old Lachlan Wells struck out 10 in his GCL Debut, in 6IP. Is listed at 5"8/163 lbs

That's my exact measurements when I graduated from High School and all of the MLB scouts said I was too small.

It didn't matter how good my Minor League stats were.

SoMnFan and I could never be Generals in the same Army.
He prefers to send a Navy Seal Team behind enemy lines and blow up a few key targets.

I prefer a less subtle approach.

Did not expect Vandy to lose one game, let alone two.
Congrats Virginia.

The SEC is always the paper champ.
Once the games are played, they often lose.

See Football, basketball, and now baseball.

Seriously? They've won what? 6 of the last 7 titles in football? They won last year in baseball and were very close to winning this year, and were obviously the best conference in both. Basketball? NO ONE thinks they have a good league in basketball.

Congrats to Max and Berrios. Couldn't have been two more deserving guys this year.

They haven't won 6 of 7 in Football, because they haven't won the past two.

And I'm not sure how they were "obviously" the best conference in Football.

No team advanced in the playoffs
Most teams lost their Bowl Games(but you don't count those, I know)

Oh, I'm sorry; 6 of 8? And: 1) Ohio State is basically SEC North with Meyer. 2) They were seconds away from winning the 8th. 3) Conference strength is about more than 1 game/team.

Again, Murf, I really have no dog in the fight. I kind of root for Vandy in baseball just for the connections, local, etc. But I think it's very tough to make a case against the SEC being the best in baseball and football right now. Very tough. And again, EVERYONE thinks the SEC sucks in basketball.

What more do Sano and Kepler have to prove? Wow.

Not sure why TR is getting paid for what he does (errr, doesn't do). You never hear from the guy. Rarely a word spoken from him. He doesn't do anything. NOTHING!

Really good, and fair, writeup on Gordon over at minor league ball (one of the best sites out there). Very encouraging:

Compared to other GMs I would say you are correct. When I was driving in Ulster County this morning I was listening to WFAN. They were talking about Sandy Alderson (the Mets GM). They always do on the morning show (Boomer Esiason's show). Every single day.

So Alderson HAS TO speak because he is constantly questioned. This isn't a bad thing.

They were talking about our old buddy Michael CUddyer, btw. He's been horrendous for the Mets and they have him signed through next year

I've only gotten to see him play twice live, Steve, but from what I've seen, absolutely he can/will stick at SS longterm. I haven't felt that way about any of our other guys (Goodrum/Michael/Polanco).

Berrios on the year now, btw:

3.08 ERA, 90.2 IP (15 starts), 92K/24BB, 1.114 WHIP, 77H, 0.6 HR/9, 9.1 K/9, 3.83 K/BB ratio

That's just damn impressive in the Southern League for a kid that just turned 21 a few weeks ago.
