Big night for Royce Lewis and the Miracle, 13-0 win

Facing this year's #1 pick, Casey Mize, they got after it

Mize lasted 3 innings and gave up 2 dingers

Lewis went 4-6/2HRs(3)/3R/5RBi
Grzelakowski 2-5/double/BB/solo HR(also off Mize #7)3R/2RBi, Blankenhorn 1-4/Bb/Solo HR(11)/2RBI(50), Kirilloff 2-5/R/2RBI(33, hitting .371), Hamilton 2-4/BB/R

Barnes 4.1IP 6H/BB/3K
Lujan 5-3 3.2IP 0-3 IRS H/4K
Mason IP K

Chatt lost 9-4

Just 4 hits. Arraez 1-4/R/2RBi, Davis 1-3/double/Bb/R/RBi, Raley 1-3/2R, Rooker 0-4

Alcala (just off the DL) 0-1 2.2IP 2H/3R/3BB/2K/2HR Supposedly throwing 92-96mph
Jay 1.2IP 6H/4R/2K (Great #1 pick)
Ramirez 2.1IP 3H/R/BB/3K 2-2 IRS
Eades 1.1IP 0-1 IRS 2K
Smelter (Still sucks) IP H/R/BB

Eliz lost the first of 2, 5-1

Larnach 1-3/double, Robles 3-3/Solo HR(2)/E(10), Severino 1-4/double
Funderburk 1-1 4IP 6H/3R/6K
Lasko 3IP 1-1 IRS 2H2/R/1ER/3BB/3K

Lewis is looking like he might have 20+ homer ability by the time he reaches the majors. I know HS players are all about projectable skills as they get older and stronger, but it still boggles my mind that he basically hit no homers in HS. Isn't this just a little over a year since his HS graduation?

Lewis 70 RBIs in 96 games so far.

I was expecting him to be a top of the order guy with good average and steals, but not much power. I'm glad to see that he is exceeding my expectations so far.

1/2 hitter this year. Now the leadoff guy for FTM. Not often you get 2 HRs/5RBI's from your leadoff guy.

Next year? WOW! How many minor league steps is it from High A to the Majors? What about the Defense? He is really committing a LOT of errors in the minors, but less recently it seems.

Unless you are talking about Joe Mauer over the course of an entire season.

Another #1 overall draft pick out of HS. How long did Joe spend in the minors?

If he rakes at AA, maybe mid-late next year

Some believe he'll pass Gordon soon, because Gordon has much less pop in the bat.

•The Twins have released right-hander Todd Van Steensel, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN (via Twitter). It seems the organization simply ran out of room for the 27-year-old reliever, who has been with the Twins since 2011. The Aussie had spent the 2018 season at the Double-A level, working to a 3.07 ERA with 10.0 K/9 against 4.7 BB/9 while allowing just 26 hits over 44 innings

Yeah

Here is that Twins Daily article that draws timeline comparisons with Correa and Lindor, as far as production/years in the system

http://twinsdaily.com/articles.html/_/minnesota-twins-news/minnesota-twins-minor-leagues/how-soon-could-royce-lewis-call-target-field-home-r7095

Pretty interesting to see what Lewis is doing in comparison.

I definitely like him much better than banjo hitting Gordon. Lewis needs to improve his defense though and could still eventually be an OF. Hopefully he stays at SS.

I think pick 1 versus 5th can be huge.....Gordon has the family pedigree so don't give up on him too quick.

They run a pretty good program at Oregon State.

Pains me to say that, especially with their Pedophile Pitcher.

I remember nights when every team of ours would win, all the way up and down the ladder
And I also remember those nights where they'd all lose, seemingly all summer
We're kinda back to those sad days again
Yeah, it's not all about winning down there, but it's never a bad thing. tells you where you are, as much as anything does.
