Are you still happy we signed Luiz, Joe?

He is pure garbage wrapped in poo and he's from Chelsea

It's a team Jeff follows when he's not crapping on the Loons.

No. He seems to be bad at defense. He and Mustafi in the same backfield is almost laughable. Tierney better get ready to go soon! I really like Guendouzi's game in the middle so far. He's gotten better from last year.

No, that would be asbestos, my man. Arsenal is kind of like the Vikes of European football. Always decent, but always breaking your heart.

Emery finally out. It easily 2 weeks too late. Should have happened before the international break so we had more time to get ready. Freddie in for now. We'll see how it shakes out.

It sucks to see someone lose their job, but Unai was not ready for prime time. Pochettino is a big upgrade, but he has to show some interest in being at Emirates. I hope this changeup leads to a big run towards the number 1 slot.

Where are you seeing Poch? That would be a massive upgrade but I doubt it happens.

I saw his name on a target list of managers the board was interested in, but I doubt it happens, either. Rodgers and Arteta were on the list also. There are some interesting stories on Gooner News about the whole situation. We will probably stay with Ljungberg until the offseason.

Agree. It's the Freddie show until the end of the season and then my guess is Martinez (which would be blah)

Defense is still terrible. Ozil is playing faster, so there's that I guess.

The D will remain terrible when you have that lineup. They all need to go (Chambers can stay as a sub).

The captain is back Joe. Looks like Arteta just signed a 3.5 year deal to become manager. Will be on the pitch for Saturday's match.

What I like is that he met with Josh K for the interview and they talked direction and, most importantly, transfer budget. I doubt anyone accepts this job if he's told there isn't much or he didn't hear what he wanted. Just stay at City if that were the case. He had a good gig there.

Agree on your points. Arteta was a great player and so far, he has said all the right things. He seems to have plans for the team going forward. I watched the game today and he seemed to be watching everything, from attitudes to energy. I can't wait to see what they do with the budget. That will tell us a lot with regards to the overall club's future plans.

I know that it was a loss yesterday, but I thought the club looked good. Arteta seems to have a plan and the team seems to be buying into it. They were more compact on offense. Defense is still a problem, though, but that could be personnel related. And, where's Pepe? Was he a very expensive mistake?

Yeah, the first half was really good but the 2nd

Arteta laid it out. We aren't in good enough shape to play that way for 90+. We wore down and are so thin defensively that we could sustain against a team like Chelsea. It will take a couple transfer periods to get out of this. And, that assumes, we are allowed to spend.

We need to start by selling Laca and making sure Mustafi never sees the pitch again. That guy is a walking disaster. I know Leno had a gaffer but he's been spectacular all season. Hard to be down on him for that. Mustafi on the other hand has at least 3 a game.

Pepe is hard to figure out. Meaning, why they spent so much on him. He's so bad defensively he can't start. So why pay 80 million to get him? He's been so mismanaged it's hard to see him break out of this and become useful. What a waste.

Why do they play soccer in the winter?

They tried playing it in the summer but it ruined Beckham's makeup so they thought it would be better served in winter.

I think the correct answer is the players want to take summer vacations.

I'm not but it'll tell us a lot about how this season plays out. We have no choice but to trot out AMN-Ruiz-Sokratis-Saka as a backline with absolutely no legitimate subs if things are going wrong or there's an injury. That is beyond scary. There isn't 1 team in the league that would trot that out unless there was no other choice. But thsink about the injuries.

Starters out: Bellerin/Tierney
Backups/secondary starters out: Kolo/Chambers/Holding
Mentaly out (and I would get on a plane and fly there to punch Arteta in his helmet/hair if he even went this route): Mustafi

Defensive mids for cover would be Torrera again and Xhaka over Guen. Ozil at the 10 with Pepe and Auba deployed as wings with Martinelli upfront. It's not the best lineup we can have and our subs are not an option. We are so razor thin right now it's scary. I'm not sure who gets that last mid spot.

Honestly, I would love for Arteta to go traditional 4-4-2 with Auba and Laca upfront and service/wings being Pepe and Martinelli but he's not going to go that route IMO.

D is the biggest issue right now, by a long shot. I read that Arteta has been given money to sign two backs, so that could help a lot. I like the 4-4-2 idea, with Pepe out there. He's got to get some playing time.

So far, so good. 7 shots on the half, and only gave up two the other way. Best Arsenal I've seen in a while.

Was a really good win off of a bad 2nd half. The Arteta era is starting off really well. Would have been great to get 6 out of Chelsea/UTD but a Leno gaffe lost the first. We had all 6, but it's ok. The shape of this team is so frustratingly better it's making it hard to feel sorry for Emery. He clearly didn't have it because the team isn't just playing better, they are finally bonding. He tried everything he could to get them set better but they just didn't respond. Now they are. It's night and day.
