I like what I've seen from Hifi, but wonder where the Wolves could stash him.

No where. He signed a 3-year contract with Paris Basketball this summer.

It likely has some kind of out or buyout if an NBA club wants to sign him, but I can't see him exercising it over anything less than a guaranteed contract.

Somewhat interesting is the Co-Owner and President of Paris Basketball is David Kahn.

looking for more detail, and imagine non-monetary factors played a large role, but Tyus Jones going to Phoenix for vet minimum $3.3 M sounds like an incredible steal to me. Could the TWolves have offered vet min if they hadn't latched themselves to Dillingham?

We could’ve offered it anyways. We have a roster spot.

But he’s going to start in Phoenix.

There was no chance he’d come here.

Thoughts on Dillingham after summer league play?
He seemed to improve as it went on that's very encouraging but as a non basketball mind, to me it seemed like there is a long way to go, and a lot he needs to change or improve upon.
At his size I think his 3 point % will need to be pretty good to make the rest of his game effective?

Curious what others thought

I thought he far exceeded expectations as a passer/creator. He has a tremendous handle, but I had no idea that he has the vision, creativity and understanding in the passing game. He made a handful of passes that I'm not sure anyone on the Wolves roster can make and he seems very comfortable feeding the post and throwing lobs.

His shot wasn't falling, but that's incredibly common for most rookies in Summer League. His offense mostly seemed rushed, but I chalk that up to him trying to get others involved and the fact that he was just 3 weeks away from the draft.

Defensively he was not good. He's definitely small, but he didn't shy away from trying on defense. Its mostly just horrible technique. Most of his issues are coachable, and he's going to learn a lot from Conley about playing defense as a smaller guard.

Finch previews the season with Britt Robson. Good reading. More to come.

I particularly thought this bit was interesting.

Offensively, when I look at tweaks to our identity, I think we can re-establish some better chemistry between KAT (Karl-Anthony Towns) and Ant (Anthony Edwards). I think we can maybe give the ball to Jaden (McDaniels) a little bit more.

If they can accomplish that, great. It has its challenges though.

Wolves trade KAT to the Knicks for a bunch of nothing. WTF are they doing??? So close to a title. Why trade one of your cornerstone players? Just nuts. Terrible.

Kat trade means Twolves share a goal with the Twins. Save some money.

No where near the same. Twolves spend like he Yankees without the revenue.

A bunch of nothing? Julius Randle was an all star last year, averaging 24 pts, 9 reb and 5 assists. Donte DiVincenzo gives them quality depth at guard. Good shooter with an eFG% of .584 last year. The Wolves had tried sign before the Knicks got him. Top ot off with a protected first round pick in a year when wouldn't have one otherwise.

Was it enough? The season will tell, but this was not a bunch of nothing by any stretch of the imagination.

Big Dante fan.

Hate Randle.

He’s a bad shooter and a chucker. Not a defender. A good passer, but a turnover machine and ballhog. Also a really bad locker room guy when things go bad.

He’s also right there with D’Lo as the 2 players in the league that fall off the most in the Playoffs.

The pick from Detroit is so protected it’ll eventually turn into a 2nd rounder.

I have a feeling it is a trade to get the guy they really want....Lauri Markkenen.

Another player Connelly wanted during the offseason.

Lauri can't be traded until next offseason.

Utah Jazz All-Star forward Lauri Markkanen has signed a five-year, $238 million contract renegotiation and extension -- including $220 million in new money, his agent Michael Lelchitski of Sports International Group told ESPN on Wednesday.

Markkanen, who had one year, $18 million left on his contract, used the Jazz's salary cap space to increase his 2024-25 salary another $24 million and agreed on another four years and $196 million that include no options, Lelchitski told ESPN.

The extension precludes Markkanen from being traded for six months -- which pushes him past Feb. 6 deadline and means he isn't eligible to be moved until next offseason.

This was a salary move. Randle will be here 1 year and then opt out. Hopefully we can trade him.

I think this signifies Naz is in the long-term plans.

DiVincenzo was the prize, not Randle.

Jace frederick@JaceFrederick

Not a counting stat guy, but just a quick refresher on Donte DiVincenzo’s finish to last year:

Final 48 games (inc. playoffs):

20.1 points
39.4% from 3

Playoffs

Played all 48 in a Game 6 win over Philly — 23 pts, 7 assists, 5 stocks, +3

games of 25, 28, 35 & 39 pts vs Indy

I can't see kat fairing well playing heavy minutes for Thib's. Let alone the NY media.

Stamuse:

Donte DiVincenzo made 283 three-pointers last season.

No Timberwolf has ever made more than 240 three-pointers in a season.

I think the big (but overlooked) kicker here is that we will have Donte locked in for 3 years at something like 12.3ml per.

I always thought moving KAT was inevitable as soon as they got Rudy. You can try to put on a happy face and say “yeah yeah we can make two bigs work” for a while. But eventually something will give.

I am surprised by the timing though. I didn’t think it would happen this soon, coming off the best season in franchise history.

I don’t think Randle was cleared until recently.
