Lynn, that post should be framed accompanied by a pulitzer prize

I liked the commercial

I think it was very brave for Nike to pick Kaep

A little surprised Nike didn't insist Kaep to get a hair cut. I think Kaep would resonate better if he were in a suit and tie and lose the mop hair.

Thank god they didn't...

Collin Kaepernick's Nike commercial is pretty dang awesome.

Love it. I'll never understand how someone could love America and hate Colin Kaepernick.

Its crazy. He's literally doing what our country was founded on.

Slave labor? Huh? I missed that completely.

LOL Bigo. There definitely was that. However, I have incredibly high regard for our founding fathers. Regarding slavery they just lived in a time where very few people knew any better.

I'm trying to read over most of this shit, but what in thee flying fcuk did you just say? Didnt know any better?

Ian I'm saying most of the world didn't realize that slavery was wrong. I wasn't there and I don't know this for a fact, but that is the way I understand it.

Then you understand nothing. These slave owner cocksuckers KNEW that shit was wrong. They didn't view black people as humans and even treated animals better than them.

And they rationalized their actions by trying to show how black folks were intellectually inferior or were genetically best suited to be the help. So you're saying all of that was out of ignorance, where once Lincoln signed the EP, they all realized they were ****ed up?

What's next, slave owners owned slaves becuz their friends were doing it too? Please quit while you're behind. Dont insult me or as anyone else any more. I'm begging you.

I will only disagree with one part of that statement. They did regard their slaves as human. 2/3 of a human to be exact. At least for voting purposes. I put somebody like Lincoln in the didn't know any better camp. He had less than enlightened views on the intelligence of black people, but he still saw their enslavement as an abomination against God.

The slave owners were in a far different grouping. They used their belief in their own superiority as an excuse to be brutal and cruel and to delude themselves into believing that it was OK to own another human being. When the slaves were freed, they used it as a reason to brutalize and even murder for the slightest transgressions. Those assholes passed down that culture from generation to generation. This sickness has taken on new forms, but it's still there. And don't anyone tell me they don't know better.

Making him conform, taking away part of his individuality, essentially "whitewashing" him would be the antithesis of what they're doing.

The guy has lived a more privileged life than 99.2% of all Americans. Privileged upbringing, free college through sports and 20+ million in the bank.

It was a pop culture choice. Flavor of the year type choice. Thousands, maybe millions more deserved if Nike would do some research and find a black athlete that never got the chance because of racism.

Having a very well known person give up his career for what he believes in is a way more powerful and potent message than using one of the anonymous people he's going to bat for.

The very fact that someone so privileged cares enough about the issue that he's willing to go to bat for his constitutional rights is the story.

Colin Kaepernick's wealth and fame don't protect him from police brutality. Here's proof

From another link:

In your mind, have you been pulled over unjustly or had bad experiences?

CK: Yes, multiple times. I’ve had times where one of my roommates was moving out of the house in college, and because we were the only black people in that neighborhood, the cops got called and we had guns drawn on us. Came in the house, without knocking, guns drawn on my teammates and roommates. So I have experienced this. People close to me have experienced this. This isn’t something that’s a one-off case here or a one-off case there. This has become habitual. This has become a habit. So this is something that needs to be addressed.another link

He's the perfect guy for this, because he's actually more white than black, but because he's not 100% white we call him black. He's also someone who, in spite of the privilege you mentioned and the hard work you didn't, should be insulated from the experiences and fear black people almost universally report in the US, but of course he isn't. You can do everything right and live in a bubble as a black person, but racism and violence is omnipresent.

But dream big anyway, and follow that dream.

No. Someone without a pot to piss in trying to make a practice squad would be a better more believable choice. They are trying to make a living. Kaep gave up trying to get his 8 figure bank account to 9 figures.

Like Sweens said, not a better choice for Nike though.

As far as constitutional rights, kneel away but it might bring consequences from a private business owner. He should be going after the NFLPA for failing to get guaranteed contracts.

TJSweens -> RE: Other NFL News (9/7/2018 1:19:46 PM)

Kaep is synonymous with the movement. He is its face. He is the reason that Donald Trump is lashing out at the NFL. He is the reason the NFL had to make a wimpy, limp dick decision on protests. The practice squad guy is not in any way a better choice. Kaep had something and lost it all for a cause. He went from starting QB in a Super Bowl to out of football over the cause.

Bill Jandro -> RE: Other NFL News (9/7/2018 1:21:33 PM)

Hard not to think Kaep isn't an idiot. Opting out of his final 12ml season only to find out no one even wanted him?

His hair dew says it all

Giving up his career for something he believes in is a bad joke. His career was over because he isn't a good football player and is a toxic locker room presence.

So he had this happen in college but still stood proudly for the National Anthem during his successful 49er days. Unveil the kneeling as a rookie. Unveil it at the SB. The timing is suspect is all I'm saying. Not saying he doesn't believe in what he is saying but it is easier to say it when the bank account is full. So he is not giving up "everything".

And no, I didn't mean that he didn't work hard to get where he was. All NFL players have had to work extremely hard to get to the NFL.

No, bullshit smells. There are much less talented QB than Kaep with jobs in the NFL. They keep getting work over Kaep because he caused trouble for the NFL.

He's not the 1st and won't be the last talented professional sports player who doesn't have a job because they are not good for a locker room. Coaches want one thing. Everyone on the same page trying to win games. A hundred reporters asking players about non-sports related stuff hurts the team chemistry and attention to detail.

His issue wasn't in the locker room. Players from all over the league have rallied around him. The issue is with the NFL and their all American pristine image.
