I will only disagree with one part of that statement. They did regard their slaves as human. 2/3 of a human to be exact. At least for voting purposes. I put somebody like Lincoln in the didn't know any better camp. He had less than enlightened views on the intelligence of black people, but he still saw their enslavement as an abomination against God.

The slave owners were in a far different grouping. They used their belief in their own superiority as an excuse to be brutal and cruel and to delude themselves into believing that it was OK to own another human being. When the slaves were freed, they used it as a reason to brutalize and even murder for the slightest transgressions. Those assholes passed down that culture from generation to generation. This sickness has taken on new forms, but it's still there. And don't anyone tell me they don't know better.

He's the perfect guy for this, because he's actually more white than black, but because he's not 100% white we call him black. He's also someone who, in spite of the privilege you mentioned and the hard work you didn't, should be insulated from the experiences and fear black people almost universally report in the US, but of course he isn't. You can do everything right and live in a bubble as a black person, but racism and violence is omnipresent.

No. Someone without a pot to piss in trying to make a practice squad would be a better more believable choice. They are trying to make a living. Kaep gave up trying to get his 8 figure bank account to 9 figures.

Like Sweens said, not a better choice for Nike though.

As far as constitutional rights, kneel away but it might bring consequences from a private business owner. He should be going after the NFLPA for failing to get guaranteed contracts.

Kaep is synonymous with the movement. He is its face. He is the reason that Donald Trump is lashing out at the NFL. He is the reason the NFL had to make a wimpy, limp dick decision on protests. The practice squad guy is not in any way a better choice. Kaep had something and lost it all for a cause. He went from starting QB in a Super Bowl to out of football over the cause.

So he had this happen in college but still stood proudly for the National Anthem during his successful 49er days. Unveil the kneeling as a rookie. Unveil it at the SB. The timing is suspect is all I'm saying. Not saying he doesn't believe in what he is saying but it is easier to say it when the bank account is full. So he is not giving up "everything".

And no, I didn't mean that he didn't work hard to get where he was. All NFL players have had to work extremely hard to get to the NFL.

No, bullshit smells. There are much less talented QB than Kaep with jobs in the NFL. They keep getting work over Kaep because he caused trouble for the NFL.

He's not the 1st and won't be the last talented professional sports player who doesn't have a job because they are not good for a locker room. Coaches want one thing. Everyone on the same page trying to win games. A hundred reporters asking players about non-sports related stuff hurts the team chemistry and attention to detail.

His issue wasn't in the locker room. Players from all over the league have rallied around him. The issue is with the NFL and their all American pristine image.
