Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/4/2020 7:12:05 AM)

Donato almost scored on 15 seconds of ice time also.

Suter so fun to watch.
The first Minnesotan that the refs are terrified of
Love it.
He pounds people and dares refs to call it. They don’t.

Yup he got away with a penalty late (knocking a stick out of a players hand).

And at least seven more
ANY other Wild D man does what he does, he's going in the box
I hope it drove those Nashville hicks crazy watching him abuse their forwards in front.
It was almost like Granlund was the one being punished for the trade. He had a rough night.

Donato almost scored on 15 seconds of ice time also.

Extremely puzzling why he rarely sees ice.
Sure seems effective when he does.
The mystery continues.

I was 😳 on your comment about Stalock and rotation the tv people made.

I know they’re parrot talking

But even to the casual follower it’s obvious who is better at this point.

NHL doesn’t help itself

I went to the site to see the Fiala goal

The site froze. 10 minutes later
Same.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/4/2020 7:49:32 AM)

Donato is like a power forward with the puck and also has a sniping shot....about the best defense you can get is someone that can do that. I hope we don't consider Donato a Tuch and just discard him.

He's been put behind that glass for some reason
Happened to Tuch as you say, Haula, Shroeder to a lesser extent.
They get a rep and some coaches just will not let it go.
Lets hope it changes, sometimes it does. Because I agree, he's a keeper.
And supposedly he has kept a great attitude. Hell, they did it to Fiala early on too.
Some "old" hockey guys never let go of that antiquated "he's got to earn it first" mentality

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/4/2020 8:29:14 AM)

How amazing were a couple of Fialas backchecks last night?
Would have made Bob Gainey blush
The kid attacked on the backcheck and harassed and stole pucks like a demon.
He took "complete game" to a ridiculous level last night. A couple of the Preds just threw up their hands like "F this, the kid is on fire"
he literally just punked a couple of them into submission.

He is so quick in space...he was all over the place and just awesome stick skills.....

Reminiscent of Datsyuk on a few of those back checks where he just kept hounding and lifting the stick until he got the puck.
The fun thing with Fiala is we still don't know what his ceiling is. If he has hit his peak right now, I'm ok with that. But, I suspect he has more and that is what takes you to the edge of your seat when he gets the puck on his stick.

Hutch Been awhile for them
Happy for them, better than a couple alternatives

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/4/2020 2:35:51 PM)

Ouchhhh
Hadn't looked for awhile
Thought we'd be higher in the weekly rankings
Ouchhhhhh

23. Minnesota Wild
Previous ranking: 24
Standings point pace: 89
Mats Zuccarello. It has been a rough first season in Minnesota for Zucc. The general manager who signed him was fired, followed by his head coach. The winger has 10 points in his last 23 games, although he has had a recent uptick. Momentum headed into next season is important, wherever that next season might be.

Seems odd to focus on the guy with 10 points in the last 23 games instead of the kid with 21 points in the past 14 games.

But I guess it makes it easier to justify the ranking...

Probably one of the many guys that rated the Wild at 32 to start the season......

David Levine -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/4/2020 3:52:41 PM)

"Minnesota has won 6 of their last 8 and has a burgeoning 23-year-old superstar. So how do we justify only moving them up one place?"

twinsfan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/5/2020 10:41:43 AM)

Judd Zulgad just said that Kevin Fiala has nearly eclipsed Marian Gaborik as the greatest player in franchise history.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/5/2020 10:42:54 AM)

Good morning Judd.

He's been a legit star recently
Can't miss a shift he's on, or you might miss something.
Rare in these parts.

Need at least 4 points out of this west coast swing

I love late-night hockey
Avs/Ducks was awesome last night
Ended perfectly.

God damn, Fiala is good!

Do we finally have that mythical goal scorer? You know, the kind of guy that is always on every other team but ours?

Lynn, I think Fiala will very shortly eclipse Gaborik as the best player in the history of this franchise. He can do everything Gaborik did and he can do things Gaborik could never do. He has the same speed and release as Gabby and he can control through traffic and pass the way Gaborik never could. Fiala for Granlund is going to go down as a fleecing.
