Wild win again.
Stalock comes up big and has 40 saves.

Fiala sucks; only an assist today.
Kunin tries to score and gives Parise an open net.
Suter scores on long slap shot.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 7:30:56 AM)

Awesome win!
Held on
Thank god someone has figured out Stalock is the guy
FSN still struggling with it
Sharks score 5 in the third with Dubnyk in there last night

On to LA !

Stalock with the playing time is improving; different goaltender even from the beginning of the year....easiest change in hockey to make is play the backup goalie more.

We don't need a new #1....we just need to get Kaapo up next year.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 7:41:15 AM)

I'm the biggest Stalock lover in the building and even I would not have believed these numbers ….
He's putting up top 5 goalie numbers over the past couple months.
And as usual, the boys play hard in front of him.
You know a stinker is coming, but that's true with any goalie.
We just can't panic when it happens.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 9:12:22 AM)

The worst thing that could happen right now is for Stalock to have a bad game and they use that as an excuse to give the reins back to Dubnyk.
If they just give Stalock a one-game break I'm fine with that, but the last thing we need is to say Dubnyk is our #1 still and we are going to ride him from here on out.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 9:29:09 AM)

So win last night
Play Saturday afternoon
Sunday Night

Stalock in all three?

I’m guessing not.

I'd actually give him one off.
Maybe Sat
But it'd be an easier decision, if Krappo was here instead of NTG

Sent out a dozen angry texts last night
FSN's whole pregame talked about "yeah, its great to see Stalock play well, he might have even done enough to be considered for equal playing time once our Lord and Savior Dubnyk returns to form"

HE AIN'T RETURNING TO FORM IF YOU MEAN "GOOD".
Its never happening. Get the hell over it.
ANY chance we have rests in Stalocks pads.

Mr. Ed -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 9:44:19 AM)

You’ve said guys play hard in front of Stalock.

Is it that noticeable?

Stalock has to be playing with a lot of confidence.

That is definitely noticeable, even to the casual fan who isn’t wearing blinders.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/6/2020 9:47:33 AM)

Even the FSN sheep have seen that
The boys love the guy
They'll die for him
Not sayignthey don't respect Dubnyk, but every team has their guy
STALOCK is our GUY
You're dumb or blind if you don't see, it Greenlay, LaPanta, and every other FSN clown.
Or maybe, just maybe, you have an agenda?

Have you ever seen guys diving in front of shots when Dubnyk is playing? I haven't......

"It's exciting. I think this year, he's won the most games of his career," said Wild defenseman Ryan Suter, who had a goal and an assist in the game. "And he uses a lot of energy. It's fun to play for him."

"Goaltending has been huge and [Stalock] has been solid," Suter said. "We're kind of feeding off that right now. We just need to continue that effort."

Sorry for him.
As for the team, they’ll be better off. He runs outta gas this time of year.
Age is cruel that way.

stfrank -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/8/2020 8:41:14 PM)

Getzlaf just found out Greenway is one guy he probably doesn't want to start a fight with.

bstinger -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/8/2020 10:53:59 PM)

Watched a full game for the 1st time all season. Fiala seems to have some sniper to him. Nice to see.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 7:05:15 AM)

Awesome to get two points on a night we did not deserve them.
Reverted back to some old bad habits, and had no goalie.
But found a way

Fiala. What can be said
The guy is the best player we have ever had, already.
The Ducks were petrified by his speed and shot.
It was a 1-man OT period.
Even the guys we have who would never admit they weren't the guy, know this guy is the guy.
Remember the old saying. You gotta give something up to get something back. Granny was good. Fiala is outstanding.
Love what Rask and Galchenyuk have brought this year. Could easily have just finished the year quietly, but those two are coming up with the biggest goals at the biggest times.
Dubnyk was awful. Dropped the head before the shot was even on him.
To play 4 periods, knowing you can't give up a clean look, is exhausting. Hopefully Stalocks off game is over for awhile again.
Get back in net and ride him to the finish line now.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 7:12:12 AM)

The amazing thing about Fiala is that he isn't playing with a great center either (just him and Parise playing well off of each other)......Staal & Kunin are 2nd/3rd line centers. Leave Kunin with Parise and Fiala for now though---he is heating up too.

I really am liking Galenychuk now....we might have to try to keep him if price is right.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 7:47:50 AM)

The FSN guys ALL tip-toeing around Dubnyk last night was pathetic.
You do realize the first three goals were all shots that HS goalies stop, no?
Do you know how hard it is to play a tough game when you know you cannot allow the other team to shoot?

It feels like we may have played him perfectly (Galchenyuk) … he is realizing he is on the edge of extinction, or a long career.
Honestly, how he finishes the year will determine if he continues on in a great life, or life gets real tough, soon.
He's obviously caring, and working, to be a part of something.
He got crucified upon leaving Pittsburgh by most of his peers, that cannot be fun and you have two ways to handle it.
As a smart GM, you can get something out of guys like that.

He has serious skill; way more than Rask and Rask has proven he can fill in also. Just another solid trade. I would rather have Galchenyuk than Zucker; not sure about Rask over Nino but it opened up a spot.

SoMnFan -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 3:05:02 PM)

If this really is the evolution of a superstar, Fiala proved again that it's more than just the physical skills he brings to the table. He's also quickly learning what it takes to excel as a professional too.
That means bouncing back from tough games and making sure one bad night doesn't turn into two bad nights, or three.
"It's such a hard sport, such a hard league, so if you have a bad game, you just have to drop it," Fiala said. "Especially now, in the situation we are in, if we would've just kept on, we would've maybe lost this one as well. We have to drop it mentally and physically and just go for the next one. It's tough to do sometimes, some losses hurt more than others. Obviously [Saturday] hurt a lot, but I think we did a good job of dropping it and going for this one."
Fiala led the Wild in shots on goal Sunday with four and skated 20 minutes, 52 seconds, nearly three full minutes more than the next highest forward.
When he jumps over the boards, his teammates expect good things to happen. So does interim coach Dean Evason.
"We try to get him out there as much as we possibly can," Evason said.
That's one of the reasons why Evason called his timeout right after Fiala drew the tripping penalty on Josh Manson moments before the game-winning goal. It allowed Fiala the opportunity to be on the ice and score the winning goal.
Just 24 hours after perhaps his toughest game of the season, Fiala more than made amends. It's an encouraging development in another long line of them for Minnesota's most impactful player.
"You could be mad as much as you want," Fiala said. "You learn that year-by-year, more seasons ... in Switzerland there's 50 [games]. In juniors, even less, so you have time to think about it. You practice, you can think about, it doesn't really affect you badly.
"But here, you just have to think about the next game. You go so quickly, just this week we had four games. If the first game is bad, and you think about it four days later, that's two games gone. This league is too fast, the games are going too fast to think about that stuff."

Great stuff on our boy.
As much as we all thought BB was a pretty damn good coach, lets realize he wasn't sold on Fiala.
Lets realize at the start of the year, he was still sending out Parise, Suter and Koivu for all OTs
It seems insane at this point, that he didn't even use Fiala some nights. For any role.

Phil Riewer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 3:20:39 PM)

Three big mistakes on BB's recent resume....Dubes, Fiala, and Haula/Tuch.

Cost a lot of wins.

kevinemmer -> RE: Wild 2019/2020 Season (3/9/2020 3:39:27 PM)

C'mon Evason,

BRING UP KAAPO!!

Dubes to presser please.

(NTG is horrible, we can't take any more!)
